Jordan 04 We're officially going full-nit now, but the Ivy League Sports story says "53-man active roster". Only 46 of the 53 suit up on game day. It's not terribly easy to find, but numerous references list him as one of the 7 inactive.Good point, thanks.by Josh '99 - Other Sports
Re: Ivy Standings - 10 years ago
Following the four-point weekend over Yale and Brown, Cornell have built up a big lead in the Ivy title race. Two points from the remaining three games (@ Princeton, vs. Dartmouth, vs. Harvard) will clinch at least a shared title (with Dartmouth, the only other team that can reach 15 points) and three will guarantee an outright title. No Ivy games for Cornell, Dartmouth, or Harvard (barely in tby Josh '99 - Hockey

Jordan 04 billhoward Game day roster shows Walters suited up. He wears #19 Pretty sure I saw a couple references to him being inactive. Either way, Congratulations to him.Walters story on Ivyleaguesports.com Walters was on the active roster for the game, though I don't know that he played even during garbage time (read: the second half). BMac Does anyone know if our players' families tend to go to Estero? I have to wonder whether the situation is very different for Maine because their players are close enough to drive home for the holidays, whereas ours are from all over and their families come to Florida instead. Check out Maine's roster: Versus ours: Thread drift: Maine has a player from Sweden named Bill Norman.by Josh '99 - Hockey

billhoward No losses in the new year (4-0-2) and ~9 games unbeaten. No January swoon this time around. Even if it's not true that we have a terrible January every year in the past, it has seemed that way.Didn't we address this last year? No matter how much you keep repeating it, we don't have any kind of a tendency toward January swoons.by Josh '99 - Hockey

RichH Ronald '09 Rita Dafatone SCRIVENS From Backhand shelf: * BEN SCRIVENS. Ben Scrivens, man – he set the NHL RECORD for saves in a regular season shutout last night (regulation). 59 saves in a 3-0 win. The Sharks attempted 100 shots on the Oilers net, all told. Damn. Ronald '09 #NYR Rangers will dress David LeNeveau as the backup goalie tonight vs. Isles— Katie Strang (@KatieStrangESPN) January 21, 2014 Huh, how about that. Lundqvist is ill (unspecified, flu maybe?). Mixed bag for LeNeveu in his couple of games with the Wolf Pack. 2 GA on 26 shots in a 4-2 win over the Adirondack Phantoms (that still sounds weird) on Friday night, 5 GA on 36 shots inby Josh '99 - Hockey

Re: Alumni in the pros - January 2014 - 10 years ago
After killing it over 8 games in the ECHL with the South Carolina Stingrays, David LeNeveu is back with the Hartford Wolf Pack, where he previously played for a stretch in 2007-08. With Jason Missiaen having been sent down to Greenville, the Wolf Pack's incumbent starter, naturally, is Dov Grumet-Morris. Trotsky I was hoping for Scrivens to go to the Isles, but that must have made too much sense. The Isles seem to already be evaluating Nilsson and Poulin as successors to Nabokov, so being in a three-way competition might not be ideal for him. On the other hand, it'd be easier for a young goalie not to have any media attention or expectations of success.by Josh '99 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the pros - January 2014 - 10 years ago
semsox Scrivens traded to Edmonton for a 3rd round pick, after they sent Dubnyk to Nashville for Matt Hendricks earlier in the day. Tough break for Ben, but he should get more playing time.I speculated last offseason (though maybe just in my head and I never actually posted it here) that winding up in Edmonton might be an ideal situation for Scrivens. This was before they signed Bryzgalov (a freby Josh '99 - Hockey

Trotsky Josh '99 Trotsky A great second half should get Ryan attention for all-ECAC and perhaps even all-American. Greg Carey at 1.85 points per game is probably the ECAC's only shot at Hobey this year (but Gaudreau will probably win -- factory school bias). Re: Harvard-Yale @ MSG - 10 years ago
Trotsky billhowardMuch as we dislike Harvard and Yale, the more college hockey played in NYC, the greater the chances that sooner or later we'll have a Frozen Four in New York, Brooklyn or Newark. Revive the Columbia program. We last played them in NYC at the 181st Street Ice Palace in 1921.The redeveloped Kingsbridge Armory will include a 5,000 seat arena about a mile from the Columbia athletby Josh '99 - Hockey

Dafatone So we haven't scored on a penalty shot in forever, and we haven't lost a shootout (or at least, not one in recent memory). Sounds about right. You don't score on penalty shots by having awesome goaltending, but you do win shootouts that way.by Josh '99 - Hockey
