Re: Men's Basketball 22-23 - 1 year ago
I fear Princeton making a continued run in the tournament could mean their coach Mitch Henderson gets offered a higher level opening, and Brian Earl, a Princeton grad leaves Cornell to take his place.by Ken711 - Other Sports

Re: New athletic director Nicki Moore - 1 year ago
Cop at Lynah I actually asked Andy about this project back in June or July and he said the cost of construction had increased to a degree that the project was not viable until the costs came back down I guess I don't understand how are the costs going to come down? Unless, perhaps they scale back the size of the project, construction costs are always going higher every year.by Ken711 - Other Sports
Re: New athletic director Nicki Moore - 1 year ago
dbilmes Besides turning around the football program, our new AD has plenty of other challenges. This column in The Sun by a student-athlete paints a depressing picture of Cornell's sports facilities and blasts the relocation of the baeball field from central campus. "Collapsing pools. Broken and molding locker rooms. A legacy team being pushed from central campus. These are just some ofby Ken711 - Other Sports

upprdeck Cornell wins tomorrow to get to 7-5 Penn/brown would mean either all 3 tied or Cornell in 4th Princ/yale Princeton win could make a 4 way tie for 2nd. Will that ship sailed along with whatever mojo the team had this last of the season.by Ken711 - Other Sports

Re: Men's Basketball 22-23 - 1 year ago
mountainred ugarte mountainred IMHO, in the Harvard, Penn and Princeton losses, it was the defense that really let them down. agreed. can't close out shooters and when they try they leave wide open cuts to the basket. I watched the first 5 minutes of the second half and turned it off because it was sad. Opponents are hitting 56.8 % of their shots inside the arc. That is horrid, like bottom 10by Ken711 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell football 2022 - 1 year ago
billhoward CAS Lehigh today named Yale’s OC as their new head football coach. And now Cornell fans wait with bated breath to see if Kevin Cahill (Springfield '01 '04) could have become the Ivy's (read: Cornell's) next Al Bagnoli. Bagnoli went 86-19 as Union HC in the 1980s, was snapped up by Penn in 1991-92, went 148-90 and 9 Ivy titles through 2014. In hindsight, with Cornell HC openings after tby Ken711 - Other Sports
Re: Women's Basketball 22-23 - 1 year ago
billhoward Ken711I hope another of her goals is for the men's football to reach some level of success. a) That goes without saying, so it wasn't noted. b) The very thought of a new athletic director arriving perhaps led the football team to increase its win total in 2022 by 150%. No other Ivy football team can make that claim. My friends at Princeton are more distraught at (going 8-0 then) losiby Ken711 - Other Sports
Re: Women's Basketball 22-23 - 1 year ago
billhoward scoop85I don’t think our women’s team will be much of a factor in the Ivies, and frankly Dayna Smith is a mediocre (at best) coach. She struck gold when Meduka came to campus, but the team hasn’t been especially competitive in the league since she graduated. This may be one of the goals of the new athletic director: If men's basketball, lacrosse, ice hockey and soccer make the NCAAs, tby Ken711 - Other Sports
Re: New athletic director Nicki Moore - 1 year ago
billhoward Nicki Webber Moore from Colgate Ivies now have five female athletic directors. And not many more in their total history. Now Brown, Harvard, Penn, Yale. Soon Cornell (Jan. 17). Previously Columbia, Dartmouth. Let's see whether she makes any changes in the football program after next season.by Ken711 - Other Sports

TimV It's striking (to me, anyway) that Andy's weekend summary covers everything EXCEPT football. It is included, way down near the bottom of the SID's list. I look forward to the next AD at least acknowledging there is a problem with the football program.by Ken711 - Other Sports

George64 billhoward Archer will get another year, I believe: * There's nobody to take (or demand) a resignation, or start a search. Outgoing athletic director Andy Noel is in the process of winding down his Cornell tenure and he's not going to saddle the successor with a coach not of her choosing. According to the press release, “Noel will serve in the position through the end of the 20by Ken711 - Other Sports

billhoward Dartmouth at Cornell, Schoellkopf Field, Saturday 1 p.m. A winnable game, as is the finale at Columbia. Unlike the Princeton, Penn games of the past two weeks. The bottom four – sorry, the four teams competing to finish fifth – all are 1-4. Cornell can finish as good as 6-4 overall and/but the best Ivy finish is 3-4. Other Ivy games, all Saturday. Re: New baseball field site approval received - 1 year ago
New baseball stadium to be named Booth Field. Cornell’s new baseball stadium on Ellis Hollow Road will be called Booth Field, honoring Richard L. “Rich” Booth ’82 for his extraordinary leadership and generosity – much of it anonymous – over the last four decades. The Cornell Board of Trustees approved the naming of the new field earlier this year. Hoy Field, where Cornell’s baseball team haby Ken711 - Other Sports
