Re: Cornell football 2017 - 6 years ago
CAS In 4 years under Coach Archer, Cornell is 9-31 overall & 6-22 in the Ivies. Best finish has been a tie for 6th place. I think he signed a 5 year contract, so there had better be an improved record over 4-6 and tied for 6th place, or there could be a change coming after this season.by Ken711 - Other Sports

CAS Red picked to finish last in Ivies, in media poll announced today No surprise. I really think this is the make or break year for Archer.by Ken711 - Other Sports

Cornell home games start times pushed back one hour to 1:30. At least it will make for better tailgating.by Ken711 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell Football 2016 - 6 years ago
CAS Cornell recently posted its 2017-8 operating & capital budget plan on the Cornell web site. It lists expected capital projects for the next 10 years. There is no mention of any plan for either a covered practice field or a Schoellkopf west stands replacement. Does anyone know the status of either? Send an email to Ryan Lomabardi VP for Student and Campus Life on the indoor practice fby Ken711 - Other Sports

Jim Hyla Ken711 sjact Kerwick out So Andy basically has given Milliman a two year try-out to see if can become the permanent head coach.....interesting. It didn't turn out so great when Kerwick was the interim coach following Deluca, hope it's better this time. From the article: The release says Milliman will be interim coach through 2018 season. That's next season, no? Yes one fuby Ken711 - Other Sports

billhoward CAS Fwiw, Pendergast had 5 Ivy wins in his 3 years at Cornell. Archer has 6 Ivy wins in 4 years. If you're drawing trendlines, Jeff Archer in year 3 would have had to win the opening game by 2 points *and* lose the entire Ivy slate while being held to 7 or less in the majority of them. Archer is also working to overturn Cornell's history of unsuccessful football, 60 years of it, withby Ken711 - Other Sports

CAS ...of course that was way back in 2003. Yes, but Andy was the AD then.by Ken711 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2017 - 7 years ago
scoop85 CAS It's unlikely a coach at Cornell would get fired regardless of how poor their team's record is. Bill Courtney even was extended for a 6th year despite his team's losing record, which including a 2-26 season in his 4th year. True, but Tim Pendergast was let go as football coach after 3 years following a humiliating blowout at Penn Correct.by Ken711 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2017 - 7 years ago
billhoward upprdeck The team that finished the year doesn't lose to Penn and Hobart. it started moving in the right direction , now can it take another step next year. So we're agreed the coaches should not be hanged this year. (Lacrosse only; football, hockey, basketball could go either way.) I wouldn't include basketball. Football is a make or break year in my opinion, finish at least 5-5 orby Ken711 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell Football 2017 Schedule - 7 years ago
billhoward Ken711 That's a tough early schedule, with the first two games away, Cornell could easily begin with an 1-3 or 0-4 start in a make or break year for David Archer. Feels as if we here on the forum have called every year a make-or-break year for Archer. Also Matt Kerwick. True. And it falls on the deaf ears of the athletic administration apparently.by Ken711 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell Football 2016 - 7 years ago
Cornell officially announced their new OC and RB coaches that posted about previously. Interesting that now Cornell is down to 7 assistant coaches, where as other Ivy staffs have 9, unless they plan to fill the DB coaching assistant position later. ;by Ken711 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2017 - 7 years ago
It used to be the football was terrible, but you could always look to hockey, and then that nice stretch with basketball, and if all else failed, you could always look to Spring and lacrosse. Ahhh the good ole days.by Ken711 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell Football 2016 - 7 years ago
CAS Have to wonder why the Cornell football website hasn't been updated to reflect the new coaching hires. Spring practice has begun. The new offense hires are known Villapiano and Nice), but I have no clue on the new DB coach to replace Travis Burkett. I agree, the football website and their Inside Cornell Football website, are both way behind on recent information.by Ken711 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell lacrosse 2017 - Penn 10-9 - 7 years ago
billhoward Ken711 billhoward The Ivies have no cap on what they can pay the coaches. They could, with endowed chairs of coaching, match most of the highest paying schools in hockey-lax-wrestling. Or we identify the climbers who'll give Cornell 5-10 years on the way up. Correct. Harvard pays their basketball coach Tommy Amaker $700,000. Nice list except it appears to date in original form toby Ken711 - Other Sports

CAS Is there an offensive coordinator on the staff? Last year's OC is gone, & the football website doesn't list one. Yes there is. Joe Villapiano who was an assistant on the Harvard staff for the last 10 years.by Ken711 - Other Sports
