Cornell Football Association No Longer Donating Money - 4 years ago
Sorry state of the Cornell Football program. The CFA has received the following communique from the Cease-and-Desist-CFA-letter-final-06-19-2019 and we wanted to inform you of this and subsequent actions which have been taken by the CFA Board of Directors. On November 14, 2015 and with the University’s consent and encouragement the CFA proceeded forward in the formation of a not for profitby Ken711 - Other Sports

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell football team will host defending Ivy League champion Princeton on Friday, Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. on ESPNU as part of the Ivy League's ESPN football package. The contest will be one of seven games that will appear on ESPN linear networks during the 2019 season. This is the 12th-consecutive year that the league will feature a national football television package. IVY LEAGUby Ken711 - Other Sports

Read this on the Ivy League Sports Board. Patrick Burkinshaw has transferred from UVA to Penn. Patrick was the number 1 rated goalie coming out of high school (if you believe rankings). Transfers are always a double edged sword because there are others in the program that must be dealt with and I'm sure they'll all compete for the starting spot next fall and spring. billhoward Good story. Hold their feet to the fire. Sometimes athletes who've grown up being stars (else you wouldn't go on to the next level) have a too-high sense of their worth and importance, and gripe too much. But all they've learned about teamwork and pulling together makes it seem as if the players would not speak out unless there was an issue. Cornell loses to Brown 75-51. Out-scored this weekend 116-163. With a 5 game losing streak this team is trending down at the wrong time.by Ken711 - Other Sports

Re: Indoor Practice Facility - 5 years ago
billhoward rss77 Was told by an insider a couple of years ago that an indoor practice facility would facilitate playing February and early March lax games inside rather than brave the unpredictable Ithaca weather. There are indoor practice facilities that are an inflatable bubble on an existing field such as Harvard, Princeton and I believe Penn. Columbia also has a practice bubble. Trotsky I'm not sure our rivals' making massive commitments to discretionary parts of the university experience implies we "have to" as well. We could, for example, let them spend themselves into oblivion while directing our own resources towards education. That's true, you don't "have to" if you don't care to be competitive when it comes to competing in varsity sports wiby Ken711 - Other Sports
Indoor Practice Facility - 5 years ago
Cornell continues to fall farther behind the other Ivy schools with athletic facilities improvements. With Ithaca weather being just as bad as Hanover, NH, it's all the more reason for Cornell to finally build one.by Ken711 - Other Sports

CAS Hofher was followed by Pete Mangurian, who went 11-10 in the Ivies from 1998-2000, including 10-4 in his last 2 years. Following Mangurian’s departure, Andy Noel, who became AD in 1999, has selected 4 coaches. Their combined Ivy record is 38-88 (2001-2018). Andy’s tenure as AD has seen Cornell football go from a consistent winner, contending for titles, to the bottom of the league. Fieldby Ken711 - Other Sports

Brown just hired who I thought they would, James Perry the head coach at Bryant. Perry has a lot of experience in the Ivy League as a player, QB coach and Offensive Coordinator at Princeton. Smart hire by Brown.by Ken711 - Other Sports

Swampy Ken711 Brown is doing it the right way following the process that Columbia undertook which put their football program on the "winning track" not the "effort track" that Cornell seems to feel is adequate enough. ugarte my big fear is that dalton banks is much better than the guy replacing him and then we're really going to see what a bad team looks like I would bet heavily on your fears. Cornell will have to rely heavily on Harold Coles in a run-based offense because there are no QBs with Banks' passing skills on the roster. If Cornell finishes better than 2-5 in the Ivy League they will be lucky.by Ken711 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell football 2018 - 5 years ago
CAS So Brown fires a coach who won 3 Ivy titles & hires a consultant. Brown has financial constraints similar to Cornell. A big contrast to Andy’s inaction with a program that has lost 75% of its game in 6 years under Dave Archer. Wait, Andy did send an email out. It will be interesting to see what happens a year from now when Cornell ends next season with another 2-5 Ivy record.by Ken711 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell football 2018 - 5 years ago
CAS Yes. Add in improved fundraising & school spirit. Columbia homecoming this year had the fourth highest attendance ever. Fix football, don’t accept running a doormat program Brown is following the Columbia model by bringing in an outside consultant to do a top to bottom review of the football program, in addition to headhunting for their new head coach.by Ken711 - Other Sports

Tom Lento Ken711 Trotsky I do not have the luxury of retaining members of our coaching staff, both head coach and assistants, based on my personal affection for them or their effort. Massive effort is a baseline expectation. And, I do not make personnel decisions based on the demands of others, who while invested in our success, do not have the opportunity to gain full internal program detail.by Ken711 - Other Sports
