Re: 2020 ECAC Prelim Round - 4 years ago
billhoward Trotsky Princeton ties Dartmouth with 2:45 to go. They're into OT and Union won 3-0 at Yale. If Princeton goes on to victory tonight and tomorrow, I worry: Would the Lynah visitor section have enough seats? Will they bring 2001's Supermom back?!by French Rage - Hockey

upprdeck all this worry and then we found out the games will be played with empty arenas As long as the ice is NHL width...by French Rage - Hockey

RichH Swampy billhoward adamw If it wasn't for the fact that I'd be scared of losing, I would LOVE to see Cornell-Penn State in the NCAAs. The contrasting coaching philosophy is off the charts interesting. I like the bracketeers who put Clarkson and Penn State in the 2-3 or 3-2 slots in Allentown, and Cornell in Albany. Gives Cornell the possibility of reprising the 1970 final. As for not runby French Rage - Hockey

Trotsky In the 9 games following the Q loss, Cornell was 9-0-0, scored 40, and allowed 12. Are we still concerned about what Schafer told the team after the game?by French Rage - Hockey
Re: Opponent News 19-20 - 4 years ago
Trotsky Flunkies get statues; innovators win championships. I'm OK with Schafer never winning another COTY if we win a NC. And I bet he is too.by French Rage - Hockey

People who sets the odds for horseraces aren't going for perfect predictions, though. They're going for what will cause a distribution of bets that make the most money for the house.by French Rage - Hockey

RPI's ECAC record pre- and post- New Year certainly lend credence to the RPI coach making a big impact once the season got rolling.by French Rage - Hockey

Swampy Quint Kessenich has 4 Ivies in the top ten this week. We're #7, behind Yale (#1) & Princeton (#5), and ahead of Penn (#9). Whew! A league that has 4/7 in the top ten ain't chopped liver. Quint noticed how much better we are this year on faceoffs. But our work is cut out for us in our league. Our hockey prospectives will be so encouraged by this success elsewhere in our athletic deby French Rage - Hockey

Trotsky The seniors lost just 7 of 44 ECAC RS road games. Daaaaaamn!by French Rage - Hockey
Re: Opponent News 19-20 - 4 years ago
RPI is 8-3-1 in ECAC play in 2020, with 2 of those losses against us, since the new year. I'm wondering if they're getting hot come ECAC tourny time. (Perhaps not having to work on spreadsheets has unburdened them.)by French Rage - Hockey

KenP Swampy Dafatone scoop85 Even if CLK were to say, lose to Harvard, and we ran the table until the finale, running the script confirmed that CLK would hold the tiebreaker if they beat us in the last game and we end up with the same points. The head-to-head would be a split, but CLK would have 1 more win. Unless some weird thing happened where they pick up two or more ties on their way to thaby French Rage - Hockey

Trotsky CHN reporting 7 teams are leaving the WCHA to form a new conference. Wonder if Arizona State will make it an even 8? Bowling Green owns the "CCHA" label so they could revive that name. Wait, with that many teams leaving who's left? UAA, UAF and UAH are the Leftovers. Ahh, the farther away schools. If Cal and USC wanted to revive their programs now would be a pretty gby French Rage - Hockey

ugarte Jeff Hopkins '82 Trotsky Jeff Hopkins '82 Brown ties Sucks 1-1. Yale beats Dartmouth 4-3. Cornell wins the Ivy title. Not yet. We are 6-1-1, 13 points with 2 games to go. Harvard finishes 5-1-4, 14 points. 1 point next weekend to win a share, 2 to win outright. Please do not mention that abortion of 3-point wins the Ivies claims. It means nothing. Trotsky osorojosissies/socialists Do go on. Be nice or he'll threaten to stop compiling spreadsheets.by French Rage - Hockey
Re: Polls 2019-20 - 4 years ago
Dafatone osorojo I have worked for people who criticized everyone involved when one person's lack of effort/performance was the proximate cause of failure, and I suspect you have too. They were lousy leaders. I don't parse group leadership into separate styles: one for business, one for sports for example. People who mistake the whole for the part are seldom successful. I can't stop laughing atby French Rage - Hockey
Re: Polls 2019-20 - 4 years ago
redice osorojo I suspect the most successful coaches use the word "you" rather than "we" when ascribing blame. Nobody wants to share the blame for someone else's mistakes. Unfortunately, I don't have the numbers/statistics to defend this claim. So, the assumption here is that you don't consider Schafer to be successful? Of course he doesn't, that's how he's sooooo badass!by French Rage - Hockey

upprdeck colgate comes to ithaca, drives home, then back to ithaca then home again. that same trip 4 times in one weekend will suck Better them than us! (If it occurred...)by French Rage - Hockey
Re: Colgate Weekend - 4 years ago
redice osorojo Back in the 60's - early in Ned Harkness' stint as Cornell coach, I sat above and right next to the aisle in the bleachers used by both teams to reach the Colgate dressing rooms. At the end of the second period Cornell was CLOBBERING Colgate. Ned and the Colgate coach brought up the rear, walking side by side some distance behind their teams. I heard the Colgate coach speak to Ned,by French Rage - Hockey

Re: A new low for Lynah Rink - 4 years ago
Trotsky ursusminor upprdeck solve the problem with 1 camera in the hall. refs could take a look during the 5-6 breaks they take to figure out incorrectly whats a major and a minor.. Are you sure that the refs don't use those opportunities to pillage? I managed to capture Feola on closed circuit. I thought it was NCHC refs at the Vegas tourny?by French Rage - Hockey

Re: Polls 2019-20 - 4 years ago
Jeff Hopkins '82 I wonder if CHA folding made it less likely for a 1-seed to advance. Formerly, two 1-seeds played weaker conferences. Now only one does, and that conference has gotten a bit more competitive, too. Just a thought. Add to that that lower seeds can sometimes be the home team, giving them help, and that a single game in a sport like hockey makes upset much more likely.by French Rage - Hockey
Re: Polls 2019-20 - 4 years ago
Trotsky DafatoneThe last two years, only two teams have finished with single-digit losses. This year, several teams are on track to either get there or come close. The average for the last 20 years is 3.4 teams with fewer than 10 losses. By year: 2000 7 Niagara, SLU, Colgate, UNH, Quinnipiac, Wisconsin, North Dakota 2001 4 Michigan State, BC, North Dakota, St. Cloud 2002 4 Michigan Statby French Rage - Hockey
