Re: Selection Show - 16 years ago
I've worshipped the Pairwise since they were created and check them after every game and I know the Pairwise and the NC$$ criteria say that Wisconsin should be in but they have a losing record, losing comparison to Minnesota State, the team that should be in and by putting them in, the losing record team plays on their home ice. How is that difficult? Wisconsin shutout North Dakota at home thby Tom Pasniewski 98 - Hockey

Re: Stanford roll call... - 16 years ago
Both me and a friend won tickets through the Cornell lottery so there will be four of us there. Of course, I don't know what to expect of the Cornell section and we don't know where the seats are till we get to will call as I understand but I'm in the building and that's all that counts.by Tom Pasniewski 98 - Other Sports

I'll be at Union Friday and Saturday only before heading to New York for the women's b-ball game all the while cheering for the dream weekend of NCAA men's and women's b-ball and ECAC men's hockey. Re: NCAA Lax Semis - Cornell 11 @ Duke 12 (FINAL) - 16 years ago
Just in from watching with some friends. What a game. What a comeback. Duke's heartbreaking goal was only so heartbreaking because of Cornell staying focused and staying in the game and rallying so well. I hope some media portray this as a comeback that fell just short and not the destiny of 'America's team'. What a truly great season to be proud of.by Tom Pasniewski 98 - Other Sports
Re: On to the semis: Cornell 12, Albany 11 (recap thread) - 16 years ago
Wow on many fronts. 1. The fact that it took five days for any mention (at least here) that these were the three quickest goals in regular season or tournament games. 2. The fact that that is the quickest time 3. Cornell sets the 2nd quickest time of ten seconds then goes immediately and replaces it with 9 seconds in NCAA play. 4. That ten seconds is tied for 14th quickest goals aby Tom Pasniewski 98 - Other Sports

Al DeFlorioAccording to Bob Kane in his book, Good Sports, the 1949 Cornell-Penn football game at Franklin Field--won by Cornell, 29-21--was attended by 76,000. A fine book that belongs in every Cornell sports fan's library. I just didn't have time to look through my copy. As always, thanks Al. nshapiroDidn't Cornell play football at Stanford in 1991? Re: Play Lacrosse - Get Into College - 16 years ago
Forgot our original source there. If we took Americans in the US at the high school level and assume that all positions on all college hockey teams are open to an American, just not filled by US players, we should be able to get some idea of where on the spectrum hockey falls.by Tom Pasniewski 98 - Other Sports
Re: Lax Final Four Tickets - 16 years ago
Josh '99Section A BansheeChris '03Section A BansheemetaezraAnybody know how large the band is going to be? NCAA events like this limit the band to 25 players. Which is ridiculous at a hockey regional venue holding 8k+, more ridiculous at a frozen four site holding 18k, and absolutely retarded in an NFL stadium holding 70k. At least at the Frozen Four we had microphones. ... and at the Everblby Tom Pasniewski 98 - Other Sports
Re: 47,000 and counting... - 16 years ago
Thanks. I know Harvard-Yale in the day drew as much as 77,000 but I doubt Cornell-Yale did. My point was to see if this would be the largest crowd ever and I also wonder if a Cornell athlete representing Cornell at a sporting event had participated in front of such a large crowd. Or if Seibald, McMonagle and company would now have the distinction of being those athletes.by Tom Pasniewski 98 - Other Sports
Re: 47,000 and counting... - 16 years ago
Whether it's 47K, 55K or a full 70K, it's going to be a lot of people. My brief search on certain Cornell sporting events did not produce the answer so I'll toss it out there. Anybody know the largest crowd ever to witness a Cornell sporting event?by Tom Pasniewski 98 - Other Sports

Re: Lax Semis: Where2Watch - 16 years ago
Well, I won't be making the trip to Baltimore due to personal and family commitments set in place before the season started. If anybody would like to get together to watch the action in/around Boston, please let me know. Those going, hopefully you'll have tickets and your seats will be in/around the general Cornell section.by Tom Pasniewski 98 - Other Sports

Re: Eating @ Dartmouth - 17 years ago
Jim and others, There's a gathering of Cornellians at an alums house which is right behind the rink on a residential street in Hanover. There will be a light dinner served and you can park right in their huge driveway and it's a 5-minute walk to the front door of the rink.
