Re: Odds that Derraugh stays? - 14 years ago
Derraugh is a candidate for NCAA Women's Hockey Coach of the Year but I haven't seen any announcement of a selection. Seems to me that after this weekend, he should be a shoo-in.by dag14 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell 3 Mercyhurst 2 final OT - 14 years ago
The Cornell Daily Sun, Inc. needs to make a profit to stay in business but with less than 10 paid employees, it doesn't have to make much. And the Business Board doesn't tell the Editorial Board what to publish in the newspaper. Hence my criticism.by dag14 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell 3 Mercyhurst 2 final OT - lay off The Sun - 14 years ago
I contacted The Sun directly months ago and was told that they thought a prominent story on Tuesday was pretty good coverage for this team. I work at Cornell so I read the paper the old fashioned way. But if the story is running in print on Tuesday, it is safe to say it is running on-line on Tuesday as well. I waited throughout this post-season run where every game the women played set a recby dag14 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell 3 Mercyhurst 2 final OT - lay off The Sun - 14 years ago
This is a fan forum so the fact that the progression of the women's hockey program this season was not high-profile among posters isn't necessarily a big deal. However, if there had been more news coverage last fall when the team swept Harvard and Dartmouth and then defeated Clarkson , more fans might have been encouraged to develop an interest in the team earlier than the post-season.by dag14 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell 3 Mercyhurst 2 final OT - 14 years ago
The achievements of the women's hockey team this season is NEWS; Isn't the purpose of sports coverage to report sports NEWS as well as cover teams the fans like to follow? Are journalists supposed to report what readers/viewers/listeners' poll say are the most popular topics, or are they supposed to inform the public? I remain disappointed that the training ground for student journalists at Corby dag14 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell 3 Mercyhurst 2 final OT - 14 years ago
ajh258 WOW.... this is just sinking in but doesn't this means that our women's hockey team could win the first Cornell NCAA championship for any sport in.... how many years? Anyone know? They really should get more coverage in the Sun because this is really a terrific season for these girls. The Sun's coverage of women's hockey has been second-rate all season. At least in winter sports, the menby dag14 - Other Sports

Re: Any official word on Cornell ticket office sale of Albany tickets? - 14 years ago
I am guessing that everyone involved in ticket sales or ticket sale publicity who doesn't actually get the weekend off was involved in the b'ball selection show hoopla. Announcement is posted on the "purchase tickets" link -- available at noon tomorrow . They also recommend purchasing in person if possible due to all the post-season activity -- both hockey teams and basketball next weby dag14 - Hockey

Re: Rebecca Johnston - Cornell Hero - 14 years ago
Everybody who ever opened a beer in the locker room after winning an adult hockey tournament raise your hand....That will probably be every adult male in Canada and a good number of the women. And a lot of men and women here in the sober and perfect US of A. So what these young women did was not at all unusual; they just made the tactical error of bringing the party out of the locker room so tby dag14 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell Women's Hockey - 14 years ago
Trophy presentations took place immediately after the seniors were honored post-game. An embarrassment of riches -- first the Ivy League trophy and then the ECAC trophy. . This is a tremendous accomplishment and these players deserve a huge turnout when they host the quarterfinals next Friday, Saturday . It was announced that Colgate is the opponent. No announcement yet as to game times buby dag14 - Other Sports
