Re: Cornell on Law and Order (SVU) - 16 years ago
Not as major a mention, but on one episode of Law and Order: SVU (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0807685/), one of the suspects was said to be going to Cornell. I think he was also supposed to have a full scholarship, but hey, it was a mention...by Bio '04 - John Spencer Is Dead

Yesterday (March 22, 2007) on "Ugly Betty," Alexis (Alex) Meade's new assistant said he went to Cornell.by Bio '04 - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Cornell @ Dartmouth 2/23 7:30pm - 17 years ago
redhair34I just noticed (on USCHO and confirmed by the Dartmouth Athletic site) that the game at Thompson has been moved back next Friday to 7:30pm. If only PA wasn't such a large state, or I didn't have to TA a lab Friday morning... I just might have been able to make it! But I'll at least be at the Harvard game on Saturday with several others.by Bio '04 - Hockey
Re: How I Met Your Mother - 17 years ago
Jeff Hopkins '82Bio '04In tonight's episode (Jan 8), Ted was wearing the huggy bear shirt again. Definitely has to be more than a coincidence now... I missed that. Too busy watching Robin, I guess. I sent an email to CBS/Barney's blog asking what the connection is. No reply yet. It was right at the beginning of the episode (Ted was killing a spider).by Bio '04 - John Spencer Is Dead

Re: How I Met Your Mother - 17 years ago
Jeff Hopkins '82In one scene on last night's (12/11) show , Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) was sick in bed wearing a gray t-shirt with the Cornell Huggy Bear logo on it! Anybody know what the connection is? I wasn't sure if I was imagining that but I guess not I was trying to figure out the connection, but so far no luck.by Bio '04 - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Schafer Magic Number: 1 - 17 years ago
DeltaOne81 Thought: what about that game that Schafer was suspended for @ Yale. Could that be the difference? Schafer has been suspended for other games that Cornell has won. eg Vermont at Cornell in 2004 (I remember people in the townie sections sitting with pictures of Schafer on popsicle sticks)by Bio '04 - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Hahvahd - where to watch (State College, PA) - 17 years ago
For anyone stuck in the center of PA (AKA Penn State), I could host a viewing party in my apartment for the game. Just let me know.by Bio '04 - Hockey

Liz '05Dan Pegoraro was released from the Texas Wildcatters (ECHL) on 10 October. It says he's eligible for waivers/waiver claims. Link: It looks like he's playing with Downs for the Mudbugs:by Bio '04 - Hockey
Re: Sea of Red/White Out? - 17 years ago
ithacatseeing all the white (watching on tv) at the Penn State vs Michigan football game recently was pretty impressive. Of course, 105,000 in Beaver Stadium is pretty impressive on its own. In terms of getting the word out, last year before the Penn State/Ohio State football game, people had put white balloons all over campus saying to "white out Ohio State." This year at PSU, theby Bio '04 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros -- September 2006 - 17 years ago
There's a Phoenix Coyotes season preview online at NHL.com, with not the best mention of LeNeveu: Phoenix's defense is better than last season, so look for Joseph's numbers to improve. The position has been made more competitive with the additions of Morrison and Sauve. The latter didn't do well in his late-season audition, but it's possible the conditions weren't right, getting a chance whenby Bio '04 - Hockey
Re: Vesce - 17 years ago
I just turned on the Sens/Pens game and although I haven't seen Vesce yet (#47) I have heard another familiar name mentioned a lot: Noah Welch. The announcers really seem to love him.by Bio '04 - Hockey
Re: [not OT] Jesus saves.......... - 17 years ago
Although the list isn't comprehensive, there's a story on NHL.com that talks about the Israeli Hockey Federation. In their list of notable players, they mention everyone's favorite goalie: Sieve-Sieve.by Bio '04 - Hockey
Re: Things to do while waiting for the season to start... - 17 years ago
WillThis isn't an error, but rather a comment. I have to wonder if it's really necessary to list the "NCAA Final 8" appearances. I'm also wondering if it's necessary, though it is nice to see that the "NCAA Final 8" list is almost as long as the "NCAA Tourney" list.by Bio '04 - Hockey
Re: Things to do while waiting for the season to start... - 17 years ago
Ok, so I was bored this morning. These aren't really mistakes per se, more so needing to be updated: 1) Under the Foreigners' page, David McKee's tenure as a player is over (so it shouldn't be listed as "2004-present" (And should someone read this statement wonder why McKee be listed on this page, check out the explanation : ) 2) Are the stats for players in the NHL going to bby Bio '04 - Hockey

Red NeophyteAlso, did anyone else hear the crowd yell RED! during the national anthem for the opening game of the Stanley Cup finals, or am I just hearing things? It definitely was audible before the start of Game 7 last night!by Bio '04 - Hockey

Re: OT - Dryden's Next Step - 18 years ago
I love how the first paragraphs mention his hockey achievements. I wonder if this will turn into a Cornell v. Harvard race Perceived frontrunner Michael Ignatieff, a Harvard professor who has lived outside of Canada for close to 30 years, has already been campaigning hard.by Bio '04 - Hockey
Beanpot... In April? - 18 years ago
Not sure if this is belongs in another forum (or at least should be labelled as OT), but I just noticed an article about a baseball beanpot tournament. Does this kind of thing happen in other sports too?by Bio '04 - Hockey

Re: McKee Could Dress Tonight - 18 years ago
KeithKcalgARI '07J-S Gigeure is out of the lineup with a lower body injury. I think it happened today at morning skate. Bryzgalov gets the start, but I'm guessing McKee will be backing up unless their taxi squad is with the team which would only be the case if Portland has been eliminated. So we're rooting for a nice slash or two on Bryzgalov? I bet he's not hoping for that (if he could play)by Bio '04 - Hockey

billhowardFor those of you who're single, I don't think stuff like this is going to make for scintillating conversation at It's Just Lunch. Luckily, as a girl, guys are more willing to give hockey a shot, when I mention that I like the sport. Only the people in my lab seem to be aware of how deep that love goes, since they all recognize the red trim on the messageboard.by Bio '04 - Hockey
Re: Throwing things - 18 years ago
RichHHow about attaching one on a string at the end of a long stick? Nothing does taunting better than something dangling over the glass on a pole. For years, there was a ref doll hangning from a noose that was pulled out in Section B for particularly poor calls. Somebody did something similar with a Nemo pinata that was brought to the Cornell/Harvard ECACHL championship game this year.by Bio '04 - Hockey
