Re: UConn @ Cornell (MSG), 11/26/2022 - 1 year ago
Trotsky With the other results tonight, Cornell has moved to 25th in PWR. And UConn has dropped to 7 (from 5). I guess the PWR is still a little volatile, huh?by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Roy 82 mike1960 Find a young coach who has won at the DII level. That's always a good formula. Look at the guy at Kansas, for example. Get a person from a low-level UK soccer league who speaks in folksy cliches. Make a documentary about it. How 'bout this...get Ryan Reynolds. He's from a lower level UK football team, and while he doesn't speak in folksy cliches, he is entertaining when he taby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Other Sports

Trotsky With baseball over, just 3 days now to Red/White. It would be nice if they did it on video; I cannot remember them doing it before. The camera guy could use the practice. Baseball over? I think not. Although it will hopefully be the case in Atlanta, soon.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Princeton - 1 year ago
billhoward CAS Fwiw, the Princeton ticket site now says ticket availability for the Cornell game is limited. That's what the Princeton site has said since Cornell first played there circa 1960. Seats are always available at Hobey Baker. Last year to be safe, we either went to the rink and got tickets at 4:30 pm then went to dinner at Winberies, or got them online a day or two in advance. marty In the spring of 2005 my daughter for some reason decided against going to BC. However she also decided she wanted to turn them down and proceeded with her application even though she had no intention of attending. I remember one guy rubbing me the wrong way during our visit to the school. I don't think my daughter had the same reason for wanting a bit of payback. Re: Athletic correctness - 1 year ago
BearLover Jeff Hopkins '82 Dafatone Baseball is fine. There's probably a combination of tweaks, like moving the mound back just a little (more contact) and making the ball a little more dead (weaker contact) that would result in more action. But it's fine! Guys throw 95mph sliders. There's only so much you can do to increase balls in play. The philosophy of "Homers or strikeouts."by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Re: 2022 Incoming Recruits - 1 year ago
Watching the USA vs Austria game right now. Koeppel is getting some ice time for the third period. The announcers are giving a lot of love to Cornell and the atmosphere at Lynah. One of them said (paraphrasing) "if you're a fan of college hockey, put attending the Harvard game at Lynah on your bucket list." And yes, they're pronouncing it KEH-puhl. blackwidow Jeff Hopkins '82 Dafatone I'm lowkey rooting for the Avs, but Nash on the cup is absolutely the best part of TB winning if they do. I've always said the Stanley Cup doesn't belong below the Mason-Dixon Line, and I'm definitely not a fan of a Florida team winning it. So I'm also rooting for Colorado. But I agree it would be cool to see Nash win it. I'm rooting for the Bolts allby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Re: Ertel to OHL - 1 year ago
BearLover Swampy Ertel's story reminds me of Tony Romano's. He also was a hotshot scorer (but 178th in the draft) who left Cornell for the OHL. I don't think he even got a cup of coffee in the NHL. I hope Ertel does.Ertel could be serving cups of coffee at Starbucks in a few years. More likely Tim Horton's.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
