Wow. 4 players from Team Canada and 1 from Team USA. Nice.

Four current players (and seven alums) got invited to the Hockey Canada Summer Showcase. The current players are sophomore Ashley Messier and three members of the incoming class, Avi Adam, Sarah MacEachern and Mckenna Van Gelder. There's at least one committed recruit attending too. Basically, they're bringing together the senior national team, the NTDP and U18s for this event.

D Rory Guilday made the U.S. roster for the world championships later this month. I think that will make her the first Cornellian to play for the senior women's national team?

Canada's roster should be out soon. This is the first time they're having a women's world championship in the same year as the Olympics.

This from a friend who follows women’s hockey closely -
“Actually, she is the second Cornell player to be named to Team USA. Alyssa Gagliardi’14, was named one year to play in the Four Nations Cup tournament.”

You’re forgiven.

From the same friend — “Cornell lost places on Canada’s NWT. Saulnier did not make it. Jaime Bourbonnais was one of the last cuts from the Olympic team and she did not make it this time, either. Brianne Jenner and Zandee-Hart the only returnees, with Kristin O’Neill being added. Rebecca Johnston and Laura Fortino were both invited to camp but could not attend, so no surprise they were not on it.”

Assistant coach Dean Jackson has left to go coach at a prep school. Seems like an inopportune time for Cornell to be looking for a new assistant.

So, the replacement for Dean Jackson is listed on the WICE website. He was the former head coach of the Elmira women's program, Tim Crowley. Anyone know anything about him?

direct from Elmira College

BTW, Jackson will be an assistant coach at Winchendon, but also the associate director of admissions [https://winchendon.org/staff/dean-jackson/]

The USCHO preseason poll has Cornell at No. 12 (and with ECAC teams in spots 6-12).

The ECAC preseason poll has Cornell at No. 6, with D Rory Guilday on the preseason all-ECAC team.

The women will easily outperform these predictions. They have the top incoming class in the nation and one of the best classes in Cornell WIH history.

Cripe, the women's pre-season #1 is Ohio State.

I bet the people at Ohio State PR have worn from their keyboards the letters T, H and E.
