Re: Predict the polls - 18 years ago
Ouch. Falling past even our PWR spot... USA TODAY/American Hockey men's poll Feb. 20, 2006 Team (first-place votes) Record Points LW 1. Minnesota (34) 21-6-5 510 1 2. Wisconsin 21-7-3 476 3 3. Miami (Ohio) 21-7-4 424 2 4. Boston University 19-9-2 384 5 5. Colorado Collegeby ebilmes - Hockey

ebilmes, dbilmes, and 2 others driving from CT. Got tix through Cornell, so we'll be with whoever else got them that way.by ebilmes - Hockey

Alone in 8th using 33/22/11. Doesn't seem to have killed us too much (though I don't know the details about comparisons).by ebilmes - Hockey
Re: Disappointment with faithful? - 18 years ago
With no scoring in the third period, I had more of a chance to just listen to the Lynah Faithful. I think it's safe to say that BU will not be defending its unofficial Rink Rat award for best home fans. The thing about Cornell fans is that they simply refuse to shut up, and that's not a bad thing. It's not wall to wall chanting, but when the assembled masses aren't yelling, there always seems toby ebilmes - Hockey
Re: Lynah Rink Renovation - 18 years ago
Jacob '06 On that note, I have heard that Pepsi's contract on the Pepsi Arena has now run out. We should raise some money and put a bid in to rename it the "Harvard Sucks Arena." "Lynah Mid East."by ebilmes - Hockey

Re: ?s from a first time Lynah visitor - 18 years ago
Darren Leung Actually, I rather find these volleys quite amusing, now that no one seems to be willing to take Facetimer's occasional baiting. Facetimer doesn't bother me at all anymore. If Age put up another "which eLf'er would you most like to have banned," I'd imagine RichS would gather a lot more votes than Facetimer.by ebilmes - Hockey

Re: Cornell at St. Lawrence post-game thread (2/11/06) - 18 years ago
Section A BansheeAnd that was the year he pitched a shutout against Notre Dame. With all due respect to McKee, I don't remember him facing too much pressure that game. Still, if he was sick, it was impressive for him to play. I think that was the year of the "forgive me Father, for I'm a sieve" line.by ebilmes - Hockey
Re: Cornell at St. Lawrence post-game thread (2/11/06) - 18 years ago
I think we just have to face the fact that this team is a lot different from last year's. We're just not going to have 19-game (or so) unbeaten streaks down the stretch. I can definitely see us losing First Place in the next two weekends. At this point all I'm hoping for is the ECAC tournament title (which we've played well enough to win). When this team plays its best, I like its chances againstby ebilmes - Hockey
Re: Win Out - 18 years ago
It's seemed like all our losses have been supposed to kick-start this team. It just seems like you never know what kind of Cornell team is going to be on the ice.by ebilmes - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 Clarkson 3 - 18 years ago
I (mercifully) wasn't able to track tonight's debacle. From the posts it seems it was similar to the Princeton loss; is this true? I hate to see Cornell consistently play to the level of the competition; I have a lot of confidence against strong teams, but it seems we just can't get it together against the weaker competition!!by ebilmes - Hockey
Re: Colgate Freshman Fun - 18 years ago
I think the first time I ever heard "sieve" at a hockey game was freshman year of high school. If we hadn't been discussing that particular word for some reason the day before in an English class, I wouldn't have know what it meant. However, I would hope that college students anywhere would know how to spell and understand the word.by ebilmes - Hockey

Re: Does anybody else (has anyone seen the plans?) - 18 years ago
jtwcornell91 I'd be too worried it'd turn into some sort of bizzare male stripper routine. Well, they're already putting out the team calendar (as we saw in FL)...maybe next year's edition could feature the firepole.by ebilmes - Hockey
Re: CSTV Poll: Best student section in hockey - 18 years ago
KeithKpromotion I agree. I think the point of the poll (at least for us) is to increase our exposure as a fan base. A convincing lead in this poll might get us a couple seconds of attention by college hockey fans. If the point of the poll was merely scientific, then a voluntary response online poll really wouldn't be the right choice, anyway.by ebilmes - Hockey
Re: CSTV Poll: Best student section in hockey - 18 years ago
I don't know; I don't see any reason not to ballot stuff. If we truly believe Cornell has the best student section, then why shouldn't we vote in the poll until we get the result that we feel is right? If some of us are dedicated enough to ballot stuff, my feeling is, why not?by ebilmes - Hockey
Re: CSTV Poll: Best student section in hockey - 18 years ago
39.9%...Unfortunately, unlike the Coyotes poll, you can only vote once.by ebilmes - Hockey
Re: Capitol Region Seating - 18 years ago
These might be huge games if it's close at the top going into the final weekend. It'd be great to have a large number of faithful there! People who have been there in the past, how many Cornell fans usually make the trip?by ebilmes - Hockey
Re: Polls 2/6/06 - 18 years ago
Really close here. I assume #6 is BU. USA TODAY/American Hockey men's poll Feb. 6, 2006 Team (first-place votes) Record Points LW 1. Minnesota (24) 18-6-4 500 2 2. Miami (Ohio) (10) 20-5-4 478 1 3. Boston College 17-6-2 410 3 4. Cornell 16-4-3 408 5 Wisconsin 19-by ebilmes - Hockey

Re: Next Year - 18 years ago
calgARI '07I think that if O'Byrne, Pokuluk, and McKee return, Cornell could have the best team they've had in the Schafer era. You know the coaching staff has just been waiting until I get there to put the national championship team on the ice.by ebilmes - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Colgate Postgame 2/4 - 18 years ago
Really seemed the Gate fans were quiet for most of the game. They got quiet pretty quickly after the first goal and only seemed to get into it the two times Gate tied it up.by ebilmes - Hockey
