Re: NCAA Tournament 2024 - 28 days ago
QU was probably the better team today, but I would’ve had a hard time stomaching them getting back to the FF. And what better way than for a Cornellian to end their season.by scoop85 - Hockey
Re: Opponents and Others 2023-24 - 28 days ago
Despite BC’s superstars, I’d give the edge to QU in the OT based on the way they played the 3rd period and their edge in experience. We’ll know soon enough.by scoop85 - Hockey

Re: Opponents and Others 2023-24 - 28 days ago
scoop85 After weathering BC’s pressure at the end of the 1st period, QU scores twice in 35 seconds to go up 2-0 just 2 minutes into the 2nd period. Please don’t tell me they’re going to win it again? BC scores right away after a phantom penalty call on QU to make it 2-1. Boy did they ever need that.by scoop85 - Hockey

Among the names in the transfer portal is UCONN’s Matthew Wood, a 1st round draftee in the 2022 NHL draft. Rumored to be looking at Minnesota/Wisconsin/NoDak. If he leaves a big loss for a Huskies program trying to gain relevance.by scoop85 - Hockey
Re: NCAA Tournament 2024 - 28 days ago
Tukper with a penalty and Jack Malone has a high stick goal that is immediately waived off. BC challenges and the no goal call stands. Duplessis made an amazing save before that sequence to keep it scoreless.by scoop85 - Hockey
Re: Recruits 2024 and Beyond - 28 days ago
BearLover I think Walsh was a fairly unique case. It’s possible, though. One analog to Robertson is Alex Green, another puck moving D who was drafted in the fourth round in 2018 after his freshman season at Cornell. Green had several inches on Robertson but nowhere near Robertson’s level of production in either juniors or during freshman year. While Green was a nice college defenseman, Robertsoby scoop85 - Hockey

Chris '03 ugarte arugula BearLover Beeeej ugarte "Can't we pull one damn upset" just doesn't rock my world the way "Clemsoning" became a synonym for choking until they finally won one. Yes, I want to win a championship but there have been two teams in my life that I thought were actually reasonably capable of it. One lost in the semifinals and one was taken away BY THE GLOBALIby scoop85 - Hockey
Re: Recruits 2024 and Beyond - 28 days ago
CAS Wonder if Charlie Major could get drafted this year. He’s currently 7th in the USHL in both goals & total points.. Walsh was a 6th rounder after finishing 2nd in the USHL in points behind Celebrini, so you may be right about Major, especially given his great 2nd half of the season.by scoop85 - Hockey

BearLover scoop85 BearLover I just got scooped…by scoop! Seriously, I was in the middle of typing out a very similar post. I agree with much of what you said. I’m not sure how it would work regarding the goalie situation—will the Cornell coaches hold one of them back in juniors? Frankly, whoever comes next year will just be waiting behind Shane anyway, so I don’t think it makes much sense from eiby scoop85 - Hockey

With no more games to focus on here’s a late season update for our listed recruits. We have plenty of talent in the pipeline: Erick Roest, G, Sherwood Park Crusaders (AJHL) -- 31 GP, 2.78 GAG, .907 save pct.; (BCHL) 17 GP, 3.19 GAG, 9.11 save pct. Alex Pelletier, LW, Avon Old Farms Prep -- 27 GP, 17 G, 23 A; listed by New England Hockey Journal as one of the top prep players in 23-24 Coleby scoop85 - Hockey

Dafatone BearLover I guess I’m just kind of tired of it. “The future is bright.” “This freshman class is gonna be really special.” “Cornell will be the favorite in the ECAC next season.” That’s all well and good but at some point you actually have to win. It took a crazy series of events for us to end up in the NCAA quarterfinals with a great chance to win, but we DID end up there, and we DIDN’Tby scoop85 - Hockey
Re: Was that slashing? - 29 days ago
Scersk '97 The better question is about the trips and interferences that went uncalled. There should’ve been an even up on the second period penalty, and there could’ve been two or three other power plays for us in that game. DU had their hands all over us anywhere around the net because they were having trouble with our size. Either call it close or don’t, but don’t call a weak slash if you’rby scoop85 - Hockey

BearLover Sorry, but please spare me with how we had a great year, how we were playing with house money, how fortunate we were to get here, how good a team Denver is, how bright the future is. This isn’t intended as a snipe at the posters on here, all of whom I respect, with few exceptions, like blackwidow, who is a loser, and abmarks, who has been stalking me for several years now. So, 43 years and counting for me to get the ultimate prize in one of “our” sports (hockey and lax), but again left a bridesmaid. That being said, many of our peers (Brown for example) almost never get invited to the wedding, so I’m thankful to have teams that are contenders. But it still hurts like heck to come up short.by scoop85 - Hockey
Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 29 days ago
chimpfood I would’ve let them score at the beginning of the powerplay to give us 2:30 to get 2 instead of :30 to get one. But idk we got a great chance and didn’t get it. So frustrating. That’s nuts, sorry.by scoop85 - Hockey

Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 29 days ago
ugarte Dafatone Easy to say in retrospect, but when you lose your stick, just go get your stick. I'm sure this isn't what guys do for a good reason, but the stick wasn't that far away. Til a Denver guy knocked it to the corner, which he's not supposed to do, but oh well.i think Schafer was pointing out out to no avail. i don't think he could get his stick because he was busy shoving his man ouby scoop85 - Hockey
Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 29 days ago
Oy, so much to unpack. 1st, Castagna just made a brain fart on that unnecessary hit—it happens. On the offensive zone faceoff, Stanley was skating out with the puck and was clearly pulled down, but no call. We then had a few chances to do get the puck out but just were unable to do so.by scoop85 - Hockey
