ugarteI like the idea of a D3 guy that can build a program and train someone to take over. The school might not want a stepping stone coach but I wouldn't mind one that puts himself in a position to be poached.Just rinse and repeat every 3 years.by Trotsky - Other Sports

RichH sah67 Still a big concern for me at the moment is how easily smaller teams are muscling our D around on the forecheck and forcing turnovers. This happened constantly during the Harvard game, and the game-winner at Princeton was a direct result of one of our D-men (Robertson I think) getting roughed up by a Princeton forechecker and coughing up the puck deep in our zone. Local MotionIn terms of Cornell football, Martha Pollack rarely attends any games and this year she blew off Homecoming as well. Well, yeah, we suck! And saying Pollack attacked Greek Life as a criticism is, shall we say, not a universally held opinion. Some have a rather jaundiced view of our "peculiar institution."by Trotsky - Other Sports

Ken711Glad they are using a professional executive search company to assist in the national search. The last time that happened I think we wound up with Cheney as VP. (OTOH, Cheney would figure out how to win.)by Trotsky - Other Sports

I'd like to think he was offered a position with the university. He couldn't cut it as the HC but as someone said above he bleeds Carnellian and white, and that's worth something to me.by Trotsky - Other Sports

IcebergI wonder who starts in net on Saturday at MSG given last night's result. I will not guess this time but BearLover is free to do soMy guess based on Mike's history is a return to Shane. He likes a clear #1 and changes only when a backup clearly tears the torch from the incumbent's grasp (as Shane did from Howe in 2022). Keoppel has not done that, but he has proven himself a solid #2 if Shby Trotsky - Hockey

Ken711Ten straight losing seasons by the same head coach, something never before seen in NCCA FCS coaching history OTOH, just a few more years and he can qualify. Note: Bill Klika, the 4th worst winning percentage in NCAA history for coaches with at least 100 losses, did his work at Fairleigh Dickinson–Florham. He retired in 2001, but Dave did his assistant coaching gig there in 2006 (whereby Trotsky - Other Sports

Local Motion As I have said before Cornell's football season is like the Martha Pollack administration. Ever since she has become president at Cornell the only news coming from the Eaat Hill is bad news. Just ask CNN. Cornell needs a new leader who brings positive energy back to our campus. Whether it's threats of violence on campus, student depression, or a football team who can't even bby Trotsky - Other Sports

arugulaSchaf may not be comfortable with it, but maybe a forward at the pp point. Castagna seems like could do it.That would completely be selling out defense, though. And fans of a certain age remember Ryan Hughes and then sneak away whimpering. Fegaras also terrifies me on pp -- I love him but he is a shorty counter rush-generating error vending machine. Robertson towers above the other D aby Trotsky - Hockey

BearLover sah67 scoop85 Tonight Psenicka had several golden opportunities that he just couldn’t bury. Mind boggling. I feel like the majority of Psenicka's goals in previous seasons were tips and deflections from the slot or right in front of the net, and yet he never seems to be positioned in those spots on the PP this year. I'm also not sold on Rego getting as much PP time as he does, letby Trotsky - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Princeton 11/18/23 - 13 days ago
scoop85 Psenicka and DeSantis are poster boys for the struggles we’re going through as a team. Both guys have been solid contributors in the past, but neither guy can sniff a goal right now. Tonight Psenicka had several golden opportunities that he just couldn’t bury. Mind boggling. But it's also fair to say that Psenicka created those opportunities. I think this was his best game since the firstby Trotsky - Hockey

My hot take is if Bancroft was available tonight we would have won. He's our one true "natural goal scorer." Boy did we need one. We had so many phenomenal chances but simply did not have the right man on the puck.by Trotsky - Hockey

Re: Cornell @ Quinnipiac , 11/17/23 - 14 days ago
BearLover chimpfood That’s a goal That is 100% a goal that won’t be called a goal because it’s impossible to literally see it over the line.It was a goal and I swear there was sufficient video evidence. The puck is invisible along the entire path of the defender's arm motion until it suddenly reappears after his glove releases, so either he swept the puck out or it briefly occupied hyperspace.by Trotsky - Hockey
