Re: Future Predictions - 30 days ago
There are two approaches to these forums: observational vs critical. The observational approach is Montaigne. “Let us give Nature a chance; she knows her business better than we do.” The critical approach is Marx: “The philosophers have only interpreted the world in various ways. The point is to change it." I'm content to just watch and enjoy. I have no advice nor would I have any stanby Trotsky - Hockey

In my experience, Cornell athletes are no dumber, at the median, than the average business or engineering major. No, they aren't A&S, but they aren't Martha Van for the most part either. Other than their athletics they are incurious and plodding, but hard workers. From personal experience that is the typical Cornell or Stanford student as well. Re: Future Predictions - 6 weeks ago
Troyfan Things looked pretty good for Cornell a year ago but most of the season was disappointing. I think hockey is harder to predict than football and basketball because it isn't as well studied. The certainty attached to prospect evaluations isn't as great so the grain of salt attaching to predictions is bigger. Of all the things there are to predict the future is the last one I'd choose.Iby Trotsky - Hockey

chimpfoodShould get a bye: Clarkson, CornellWe have a lot of unknowns; I think this is overoptimistic. We could be a 2-4 if everything goes right, but we may also be sub-.500 of everything goes wrong. Look at this past season where despite the talent to win the tourny and get within an eyelash of the F4, we didn't even get a bye. I still believe we have forgotten how difficult this competiby Trotsky - Hockey
