Re: ECAC Expansion is a horrible idea - 15 years ago
Scersk '97CUontheslopes Niagara has never been good (a national power like us or dare I say Clarkson or more recently Princeton) nor do I see them being good in the future.... I'm completely against adding another bottom feeder to the conference. Other posters have dealt with other portions of what you've written, so I'll restrict myself to this part. sah67http://www.uscho.com/rankings/ We move up to #5 with two first-place votes, and we now have 4 ECAC teams ranked nationally, with Yale cracking the list at #19, Princeton sliding to #10, and Dartmouth falling to #18. Re: Polls 1/5/09 (Cornell #6/8) - 15 years ago
dbilmesTrotskyPolls were invented by newspapers to generate interest, sell copies, and make money. They've never been anything more than that. Based upon how newspapers are going belly up financially, it appears the polls aren't doing their job! Because they've been usurped by web sites like USCHO and INCH.by Swampy - Hockey

Jeff Hopkins '82A little old time, but how about Andy...Raggedy...Andy...Raggedy. I also wouldn't mind a "Good Andy, Bad Andy" cheer, but it would have nothing to do with our opponent. We all know to take rankings with a grain of salt, but consider this. * Iles is ranked the top goalie in the Northeast and, by most accounts, in the U.S. * Kevin Cole is the #2 forward in the Northeast. * Armand dby Swampy - Hockey
Re: Dec 8 Polls: Cornell is in the top 10 - 15 years ago
ugarteSwampyI think the scores by which the two teams have won influence the polls. Given its style, this disadvantages Cornell. IMHO, head-to-head is more meaningful. Head to head is one game! It is a good tool for tiebreaker purposes but, with an insignificant sample size, if Princeton is routinely winning against common opponents by a larger margin than we are, that seems like a good reason toby Swampy - Hockey

BeeeejAl DeFlorioimafrshmnAl DeFlorioNot clear to me why a team that was beaten by Cornell and also lost to Mercyhurst (huh?) is ranked five places ahead of a Cornell team that's lost only to North Dakota. They do have a real marquee win in having beaten Northeastern, but other than that, they are still riding their preseason hype. TrotskyExcellent two-way victory tonight. Cornell goes orange at 5-0-2 in conference. Tied (w/ '66, '68, '69, '97, '03, and '04 teams) for second-earliest (game 7) in a season to turn orange. The earliest years were '67, '70, and '72, when we turned orange by game 5. Mathematically, '70 gives the earliest any team has or can ever turn orange (ditto for turning RED). DeltaOne81Swampy A stupid question, but how come Alaska-Anchorage is not on there? Because it's in Russia.
