Re: Ticket Line Procedures - 20 years ago
There was a long discussion during last season about the merits of replacing or significantly renovating Lynah. The discussion ultimately settled around whether such a rink would have the same atmosphere because of its size - not just from adding seats but from bringing it up to current fire code. Imagine rows further apart and at a less steep pitch. Adding rows means a much higher roof. I'veby nyc94 - Hockey
Re: student ticket package - 20 years ago
I fail to see how you are getting "screwed" or "extorted". If you don't want or can't use the tickets then you'll have no trouble selling them to a student that was shut out of tickets - probably at a profit if you choose. If Cornell plays fewer home playoff games than the number of tickets you were "forced" to buy you will get a refund. All you are missing out ofby nyc94 - Hockey

OK, but I also got the impression that some people feel the Sun did something wrong last week. Did they encourage cutting, lining up early, etc.?by nyc94 - Hockey
Re: Ticket Line Procedures - 20 years ago
What happened to separate lines for upperclassmen? I seem to recall in 1990-1993 they gave out line numbers on three different colors of paper - one for seniors, one for juniors, and one for sophomores and freshman. All of the seniors got to choose seats before any juniors, etc. Thus, section B was all seniors. Each year our seats got better.by nyc94 - Hockey
Re: [OT] Blackout - 20 years ago
Power came back on around 4 AM Friday in midtown Manhattan. Had phone service during blackout on Thursday. Had NO phone service Friday morning and still without as of (8:33 PM EST). I am logged on via T1 line in the "lounge" of my apartment building. Cable TV is working with about 1/2 the normal channels.by nyc94 - Hockey
Re: Herb Brooks - 20 years ago
The article on USCHO says the 1980 game against the Soviet Union was a semifinal. That isn't quite right. The medal round was round robin, not a bracket style single elimination like it is now. The field of 12 was split into two pools of six with the top two teams from each pool advancing to the medal round after round robin play. The US finished the preliminary round tied at the top of its gby nyc94 - Hockey
Re: Leneveu signs with Phoenix? - 20 years ago
Nothing on the Coyotes web site. They do have a press release dated today, July 2, that they signed Captain Teppo Numminen to a one year deal which would suggest that the site is being updated quickly. Since LeNeveu is included in a poll on the site about the Coyotes top prospects, one would think that if he were signed, it would merit a press release. edit: Press release is up on the Coyotby nyc94 - Hockey
Re: Cup in Ithaca - possibly 7/11 - 20 years ago
Yes, I was referring to the drinking age. The running joke we had was that you could get in with a note from your mother, as in Mr. Kotter, Please let Juan into Dunbars as he is now 21 years old. signed, Epstein's mother Anyway, you know something odd is afoot when, as far as I know, Dunbars never once got cited for underage drinking in my undergrad years. Contrast that with the now defunctby nyc94 - Hockey

Can someone enlighten me on just what one can buy from Teagle? I didn't know that they were selling anything when I was a student and only learned about the game jerseys this year.by nyc94 - Hockey
Re: NYC area roads, traffic, and construction - 21 years ago
The Merritt was a disaster on the way to the Brown game. I made it just after the national anthem. Rush hour traffic with two narrow lanes. Throw in a radar trap or a traffic accident and you'll be there for hours. And that steel grate bridge over the Housatonic was a thrill ride in the snow after the Yale game.by nyc94 - Hockey
Re: Root for Brown Tomorrow - Just in case - 21 years ago
In the scenario where we finish fourth (we lose, Minn beats CC, Dartmouth wins) we're still the number 2 Eastern team (after UNH) which should get us #1 in Providence or Worcester (since BU falls to a 2 seed), although not against a MAAC or CHA team in the first round. Also, for the fans of the UHN women in Worcester last year, on the television broadcast there was a middle aged woman dancing inby nyc94 - Hockey
Re: PWR with "good wins" bonus - 21 years ago
Unless I'm mistaken, you can't just hit "back" on your browser to change a result and ask it to recalculate PWR. You really do need to start over. I backed up to see what would happen if I changed us beating Harvard to losing to Harvard and they vaulted to #3 in PWR. And CCs RPI was like .6550by nyc94 - Hockey

"Got Honors" was my post and I would love it if someone else could do it. My own schedule this week and travel plans would probably require me to make it in the parking lot of a Staples in Albany.by nyc94 - Hockey

Re: YES tape-delaying Cornell semifinal? - 21 years ago
That makes more sense. They probably have to delay it because the arena won't be sold out and Albany is in YES home territory. Unlike the broadcast networks with football, YES probably can't change their programming for each city.by nyc94 - Hockey
Re: PEPSI Arena Tickets - 21 years ago
Does anyone know if they will sell individual tickets at the door or will it still be the package? Edit: answered my own question at the Pepsi site. Individual session tickets are $30. Post Edited (03-17-03 00:45)by nyc94 - Hockey

Re: BU PWR question - 21 years ago
Has anyone else noticed that, on the USCHO comparison chart, the our record against TUC varies from one comparison to another at the same moment in time? I know that teams enter and leave TUC status but I'm talking about the chart at one particular moment. For example, right now on the BU comparison it says our TUC is 8-3 and on the UNH comparison it is (correctly) 10-3. I haven't noticed anytby nyc94 - Hockey
