Re: cornell basketball at maryland, tickets from Cornell still available - 12 years ago
RichH Trotsky billhoward ugarte Hey Harvard, welcome to the 13 seed. Doesn't anyone feel a band of brothers bonding with Harvard this year as an Ivy team that might have one, maybe two, wins in it come NCAA tournament time? Penn and Princeton carried the Ivy League banner for years, we did it for a couple, and now Harvard has the chance. Not saying I feel warm and fuzzy about the Cantabs myself.Yby phillysportsfan - Other Sports

Trotsky phillysportsfan Yes it will be interesting to see how they are able to get the school up and running by September from hiring faculty to getting students. Probably the toughest part of that is getting students since the school didnt exist when most students were applying for grad school for next fall.If you build it, they will come. Amazing how this team doesnt quit, they really could have packed it in after 15-0 and when the lead got to 23. Now if they could only win a tight road game. You would think they could win one of these by dumb luck with as many close road games as they have had. All those chucked 3's at the beginning really killed them, would be nice for this team lose their identity as a 3pt shooting team, thby phillysportsfan - Other Sports

Chris '03 Anyone actually get redcast to work tonight? All I got was music. Just told MBKB audio on RedCast isn't working. There was a fire in the studio at HITS 103.3 ... the game has been moved to WHCU 870 AM.— Cornell Big Red (@CornellSports) January 4, 2012 apparently there was a fire at Hits 103.3by phillysportsfan - Other Sports

Re: cornell basketball at maryland, tickets from Cornell still available - 12 years ago
Yes I will be there. I am not expecting a win as it will probably be like the last 4 road games, close but not enough. Although Maryland has been asking for a loss, squeaking by at home against a bunch of average to below average teams. They really could use a win here, tough to go into Ivy play 5 straight losses with no road wins yet. That long losing steak going into Ivy play last year really hby phillysportsfan - Other Sports

Re: Men's Basketball 67 Penn State 74 - 12 years ago
Yes rebounding hurt, they gave Penn St so many second chances. Desperately need Bunce and Harmon for next year. Although I would like to see Lamore out there a bit more, he is as big as Figini, Eitan but has got 10-15 more lbs. He gave them good minutes last night with the tip in and the nice pass to Ferry, maybe?, instead of forcing anything. Foul trouble was a huge killer too. Tough to lose Eitby phillysportsfan - Other Sports
Re: Ken Pomeroy on the Hoops team - 12 years ago
looks like you jinxed the 3pt shooting defense, Penn St came into the game shooting 30% from 3, shot 10/24 41.6%by phillysportsfan - Other Sports

Re: Men's Basketball at Illinois - 12 years ago
Ah tough ending, cant complain with the effort though, an extra 3 here or there or some better FT shooting may have gotten us this game. Hopefully they can build on this game unlike last year at Minn and win 2 of the next 4by phillysportsfan - Other Sports

Re: Men's Basketball vs. Albany - 12 years ago
mountainred I don't think that's good news from Illinois. Cornell's best chance for the upset was that the game was three days before a rivalry game with Missouri. Webber will most likely have his guys' attention now that they are coming off their first loss. We will pay for any bad stretches like the bad ones versus Albany. semsox phillysportsfan American loss doesnt look so bad today, American has won its last 6 against relatively weak competition but tonight beat a top 100 St Joes team that has been playing very well Not to mention our own top 100 team that we beat this weekend, which was coming off of 6 straight wins, the last 5 by double digits. Yeah who would have thought Miles and Gray would carry us to aby phillysportsfan - Other Sports

Ben phillysportsfan Yes I was there too, the toughest part about that game was how poorly we played especially how poorly Wittman shot and yet at one point it was 40-34 there for the taking. But you have to remember mid majors at this level dont get to the Sweet 16 every other year, they have to rebuild, it takes time. Re: American 65 Men's B-Ball 63 - 12 years ago
Matthews is still hurt. I dont understand why Scelfo has gotten such few minutes, Gray has been terrible. Miles is a terrible shooter but this year he has done a decent job being the primary ballhandler with Wrobo on the bench and has made some nice assists. Miller and Cancer are mostly playing starter's minutes.by phillysportsfan - Other Sports
Re: American 65 Men's B-Ball 63 - 12 years ago
Yes Courtney also used some strange lineups, why was Miles and Gray on the court at the same time? Neither of them can shoot, one on the court at a time is ok but not both. Miles has finally found himself a good role of distributing and occasionally driving with his quickness. He doesnt usually finish but usually gets fouled although today he did have that once nice layup. But Gray has done nothiby phillysportsfan - Other Sports
Re: Men's Basketball 71 (screw) BU 66 - 12 years ago
Unfortunately it sounds like Peck may be done for the season based on some recent Delaney tweets: "Peck will have another follow-up, but if situation doesn't improve you won't see him back this year." "Peck had offseason surgery. Apparently there are lingering cartilage issues, and it's not regenerating like surgeon expected." Re: Men's Basketball 71 (screw) BU 66 - 12 years ago
This was probably a game we lose in the final minutes last year but this year we were able to hold onto the lead. We also would not have won this game last year as we only shot 30% from 3. Hopefully Wrobo will be able to break this shooting slump soon as he has not shot well all year. He is still contributing through assists (he is on pace to break Cornell's all time assist record held by Dale) aby phillysportsfan - Other Sports
Re: Some "D" in Cornell or Penn - 12 years ago
George64 Rita Al DeFlorio Trotsky Now up 48-38. Mathews with 548 yards passing according to ESPN.Add 86 passing yards for Tasker and you get 634 total. Yikes! Now a Final: 48-38. And our QB is only a sophomore? Savage is a senior, but fifth-year eligible, so conceivably his top three receivers could be back, too. Re: Men's Basketball 59 Buffalo 68 - 12 years ago
mountainred I was only listening, not watching, so I trust you. 1-2 is where I expected the team to be, though I hoped to steal an extra win. Not sure how accurate KenPom's ratings are this early in the season, but he ranks Cornell's next four opponents at 187 (BU), 210 (Delaware), 261 (American) and 155 (Lehigh). Any word on Peck? I will be interested in seeing how the rotation changes upoby phillysportsfan - Other Sports

Re: Men's Basketball 59 Buffalo 68 - 12 years ago
yes I agree there was poor 3pt shooting and way too many offensive fouls, Cancer will learn to make better decisions about when to go to the basket and when to pass. However, it wasnt the same story as last year in that despite 25% terrible 3pt shooting we were still in this game with less than 5min to go due to a good inside game from Eitan and some aggressive drives to the basket.
