athletic department fundraising shortfall 73% of their goal - 10 years ago
Dear Friends of the Big Red, Thank you for the many positive comments and congratulations for the exciting performances by our dedicated athletes. Many have asked if Cornell has ever celebrated two athletes in the same year who are recognized as the most outstanding in their sport. I have asked Jeremy Hartigan to confirm that Rob Pannell (lacrosse) and Kyle Dake (wrestling) winning the Tewaaraby phillysportsfan - Other Sports

Re: FF Semi vs. Duke - weather advantage - 10 years ago
Argh really tough loss, the fast start felt like the last 2 games but I guess it was fool's gold considering we had that lead despite getting killed on the faceoffs. 3rd quarter was a disgrace but the team showed some heart with that comeback. The national championship drought continues, when are they ever going to end the drought Not sure yesterday could have worse, we lose in a tough way andby phillysportsfan - Other Sports

Dear Big Red Lacrosse Fan: For the fourth time in seven years Big Red Lacrosse will represent Cornell University in the NCAA Lacrosse Championship Final Four! Cornell University’s Department of Athletics has teamed up with Alumni Affairs & Development and lacrosse alumni to host a pre-game tailgate party in Lot K, right next to Lincoln Financial Field (click here for a map). Re: 2013 NCAA Lacrosse Tournament - ESPNU selection show - 11 years ago
billhoward The sport of lacrosse is ascending. The ESPNU selection show is descending, run by a bunch of amateurs (drawing paychecks) with game video backing them up. The studio announcers had a chance to talk about who's likely to advance and Kessenich and Carcaterra don't say squat beyond that Syracuse, the No. 1 seed, has a favorable matchup. Well, yes, Bryant (Laxpower RPI 32) and Detroit (RPby phillysportsfan - Other Sports

Re: HARVARD SUCKS - 11 years ago
Trotsky ugarte phillysportsfanYeah Harvard tends to bring in high AI kids to balance out their real recruits. Then they cut them freshman year, they have had 21 players get cut/leave the men's basketball program since 2008. The high AI kids get into Harvard when otherwise they would not have and the basketball team gets their recruits, everybody wins. I dont mind it, Cornell and the rest of the lby phillysportsfan - Hockey

Weder nyc94 Trotsky WederIf Harvard is indeed skewing its AI numbers to benefit men's basketball, it will be interesting to see which other teams there take the hit. You're going to have to have a sparkling academic record to be on the sailing team. I thought each team (or at least each sport, M + W) had to conform to the AI. So, for instance, you couldn't field a wrestling team of Joe Rockheaby phillysportsfan - Hockey

Jordan 04 Trotsky Jordan 04 I hope Arizona beats them by 50.Meh, I'm OK with them playing well. It helps the conference overall, and thus us. Having the Ivy get blown out makes prospects doubt the quality of play in the league. Rising tide and all that. That's fair; Harvard playing well probably helps the conference. I hope Arizona beats them by 50. Yeah it helps the league that theby phillysportsfan - Hockey

Damn would not be surprised to see Harvard make the Sweet 16. Harvard is going to be a force next year with Curry and Casey coming back from the cheating scandal and top 100 recruit Edosomwan coming in. Cornell's Sweet 16 run is a distance memory at this pointby phillysportsfan - Hockey

After splitting with Columbia and getting beat badly by Princeton, I expected another .500 Ivy season. Very nice 3 game winning streak and great to finally get over .500. I am starting to get optimistic about this team's future, when Miller wants to score inside no one in the league can stop him. Starting with the Dartmouth game I like the early leads they have been building. Especially in that Yby phillysportsfan - Other Sports

Trotsky Scersk '97 I realize that it's all about access to TV markets, but this Maryland business makes no sense. Rutgers does, in a way; Maryland doesn't.The idea is to capture DC, but even then insofar as there is any interest in college football in DC and NoVa (which there isn't) it's VaTech. I dont understand how the math works out to make these conferences so much more money. People in Phby phillysportsfan - Other Sports
