billhowarda) Low blow. b) But yes that would explain a lot of things. Actually, her husband is upstanding, cultivated, a ballroom dancer of international repute, owns his own airplane ... and yet he's a Clarkson graduate. Obviously, he married above his station. I take it they are not cousins...by atb9 - Hockey

andyw2100They might follow the cheer or cheers, but they won't be nearly as amused as they would be if they knew the history. That's how I see it, at least. Because inbreeding and Clarkson isn't as synonymous as syphilis and Clarkson?by atb9 - Hockey
Re: Needed: Student to distribute Clarkson Inbreeding Information - 18 years ago
I understand the excitement but don't you think handing out an article describing inbreeding has the potential to embarrass the entire fanbase? I don't think many faithful fans need explaining about inbreeding in Potsdam, whether it is true or not, because I see it as playful teasing. Just start a cheer and people will follow it like little sheep!by atb9 - Hockey

Game 2: Saturday, Mar. 11, 2006 • 7 p.m. • Lynah Rink (Ithaca, N.Y.) Game 3 (If Necesary): Sunday Mar. 12, 2006 • 7 p.m. • Lynah Rink (Ithaca, N.Y.) The Series: Began 1922-23 ... Chris '03Some pretty good revisionist history over on GPL: Also chatter about making t-shirts for this weekend. I for one have never considered a game that goes to overtime to be the most one sided high profile hockey game ever... A tip: Anything about spelling or razors (or mentioning other general grooming ideas) usually riles the Minnesota fans. Once one listens to the Minnesota radby atb9 - Hockey

Re: clarkson @ cornell, ecachl second round chatter - 18 years ago
Liz '05I'm pretty confident we can continue to beat Q, and thus make it to Albany. I'm not at all confident that we can beat Clarkson in a 2 of 3 series. I'd like to win the ECACs. It seems somewhat silly to say this but if we can’t beat Clarkson two-out-of-three, we don't deserve to win the ECACs. However, I know what you are wishing for: path of least resistance. Unfortunately, we arby atb9 - Hockey

redhair34suprise suprise... from the USCHO SLU-Brown thread: Got 6, Want More: "Alex Dell continues to be the worst ref in D-1 hockey. He is awful!!!" In the defense of Got 6 (shudder), Alex Dell is pathetic.by atb9 - Hockey

Re: Nostalgia--Leadership of the '03 class - 18 years ago
Al DeFlorioFrench Rage[That's the thing, though, the 03 team put every bit of their talent to full use. There's something to be said about drafting a team of players that maybe arent the high talent touted names, but work great as a team like the 03 squad. I believe a lot of the credit for that team's success goes to the senior leadership, and Stephen Bâby's in particular. I'll never forby atb9 - Hockey

Re: polls 2/27 - 18 years ago
ebilmesWe've definitely been pushed out of the "near the top" pack. Again, not that it means anything, but Maine did not impress me at all in Florida; I don't like being behind them. I'm sure the Niagara web site will get back into energizing the fan base by mentioning that they're again receiving votes. I love how USCHO found a way to include half of D-1 in their poll.by atb9 - Hockey
Re: Who do we want to face? - 18 years ago
Dart~Ben That said, chalk it up as another life lesson learned. I'll just take notes til June and then make one gargantuan post before I head off to law school (as if that doesn't open up a whole slew of comebacks). :-p Unfortunately, you can't just pretend to be another Dartmouth fan... Re: Cleary Cup - 18 years ago
mjcI think Dartmouth has Monday and Tuesday, Colgate has Thursday and Friday and they alternate Wednesdays and weekends. Not if it goes back to Colgate with bruises. edit: added smiles...it's'mazing how many people are testy about a third place finish! We've got a good team with injured talent! Re: Cornell-Union Post Game Thread - 18 years ago
-- I noticed in the USCHO recap of the Colgate-RPI game that the goal judge might have missed an RPI goal that would have tied up the game midway through the third period. The missed call on the goal might have been the difference between 2nd place and 3rd place (ignoring the fact that a win Friday would have made this irrelevant). The goal judge in front of Section 1 was mistake prone Fridayby atb9 - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ RPI postgame - 18 years ago
Just want to toss out a few things... Not sure if everyone knew but they were selling tickets to the game for $4 all day Friday. We looked slow and our shots seemed to be aimed five hole, or at the chest. It was disappointing. Don't give Lange too much credit! Sitting just off of the his shoulder for the first and third, I saw plenty of open net to be had. That first RPI goal killed tby atb9 - Hockey

OT: Torino - 18 years ago
ugarteNot just a marketing gimmick. Unlike in past Olympics, the IOC allowed Turin to use its Italian name it its own branding (evem though it is officially the site is Turin). Past host cities were required by the IOC to use the English name. I don't doubt that NBC jumped on the opportunity to glam up their own marketing but I don't blame Torino for wanting to use their own name. Hey, it couldby atb9 - Hockey
