Re: Cornell wrestling recruiting… - Yesterday
One of our top recruits, Sergio Vega, has switched his commitment to Oklahoma State. Real bummer and a sign of the times in a post-NIL world. Oklahoma State already made a big splash by hiring Penn State standout and Olympic gold medalist David Taylor to replace a retiring legend and you can already see the balance of power tilting even harder to a handful of elite programs.by ugarte - Other Sports

Al DeFlorio Game ain't over yet. It is now. final score 34-21. it was 34-14 at one point. it was never closer than 13 once we went up 14-0. looking over the play-by-play and this is high comedy. After we scored on our opening drive, Bucknell drove and fumbled on the 1. We drove 95 yards before Wang threw an interception. On third down Bucknell threw a pick 6.by ugarte - Other Sports
Re: Cornell soccer 2024 - 5 days ago
dbilmes The official box score for the game has Cornell scoring it's second and third goals at the exact same time. That's a good trick! they fixed that and a possible explanation is there was a mistake in data entry: Colgate got a yellow after the second Cornell goal - and that was before the Raiders got really chippy at the end.by ugarte - Other Sports
Re: Men's Basketball 24-25 - 7 days ago
nycred That hinges on whether Jacques continues with the Brian Earl offensive scheme or goes his own way. Our team definitely has a lot of talent, but a lot of our success has come from Earl's unique offensive scheme, which relies on lots of substitutions to maintain an extremely fast tempo of play(23rd fastest tempo in the country last season). Curious to see where Jacques goes.i'd be surprisedby ugarte - Other Sports

scoop85 chimpfood scoop85 chimpfood scoop85 We’re 11th in RPI, With 25 at-large selections, if we finish reasonably well we should be in solid position for an at-large bid if we don’t win the ILT.Its still really tough with a weak Ivy League but I’m starting to become hopeful, just keep going one game at a time. Ivy’s overall RPI is 9th out of 22 conferences, so perhaps “weak” is an overstatementby ugarte - Other Sports

mike1960 ugarte mike1960 Wang is throwing the ball well. on the first drive, yes. for a couple of nice throws on the second drive. he's thrown 3 off-target since then. he and pope are both running well. Yep. Wang might have to use his legs more to get us some scores. really good drive after the defensive stop. mike1960 ugarte Ugh. Ugly finish - huge hole for Albany turns into an 84 yard TD run where we never got a hand on the guy. That didn't bother me. They had to sell out to try to get the ball back. The score does not indicate how close the game actually was. agreed just an unfortunate way to close out a good performance from the D, just like the blown snap / fumble on the meaningless last plaby ugarte - Other Sports

ugarte First down sack gives Albany 2d and very long but they chip away and convert on 4th and 2 then make the drive pay off with a rushing TD+2 to go up 14. Cornell is running out of time but after a long catch and run by Musungu, Cornell is back in the red zone. Alas, the drive dies on the 9 yard line as Wang and Lee weren't on the same page for the location of the ball. Albany takes over wiby ugarte - Other Sports

mike1960 Nice job by the play caller. He has a really good feel for the defensive tendencies. Great strip sack to force the punt. Cornell moves the ball a little, pulls out a deep pass to the TE on 3d and 1 down to the 1... but it's called back for a chop block and Cornell has to punt.by ugarte - Other Sports

Ken711 Albany's huge OL is just pushing Cornell's DL back at will. If you can't stop the running game you aren't going to win a game. Still keeping it close. Down 16-10 after Q3. Great Danes, not Greyhounds btwby ugarte - Other Sports

Re: Cornell-Albany 10/5/2024 - 17 days ago
Al DeFlorio Guile!Yes! A WR screen is actually a WR pass down to the 7 and two plays later, a neat little slip screen from the 4 for a TD. Cornell up 7-6! (Did I mention that Cornell stopped Albany on short 3d and goal to force a FG? No? Well, that happened before the TD.)by ugarte - Other Sports
Re: Cornell-Albany 10/5/2024 - 17 days ago
Al DeFlorio Penalties slowing Albany down, offsetting Cornell's missed tackles. Plus they keep going deep to wide open receivers but fortunately the Albany QB has no idea where the ball is going when he lets it go.by ugarte - Other Sports
Re: Cornell-Albany 10/5/2024 - 17 days ago
Al DeFlorio Time of possession must be 13 and 1. That's not bad for being down 3-0 after Q1. After our punt Albany got hit with a timely chop block penalty. The 15 yards pushed them out of the PK's range and his kick didn't clear the end zone. Cornell started the drive with a jet sweep by Musungu for our first first down. Albany forced a punt, though.
