Re: Vote Barron for Hobey - 4 years ago
Fischler has merely been around the New York hockey media scene for a long time. I never got the impresssion that he was a seriously knowledgeable hockey analyst, but in NYC there hasn't historically been a high standard in that regard.by Iceberg - Hockey
Funny opposing fans at games - 4 years ago
I've thought about making this thread and now I've finally gotten around to it. What are some laughable moments you have personally experienced or witnessed from the fans of opposing teams at Lynah or elsewhere? I can think of two in particular... Back in fall 2012, Yale made its regular-season visit to Lynah for a game that was nationally televised by NBC Sports (the previous NHL lockout waby Iceberg - Hockey

It's no longer possible to buy tickets for any Penn lacrosse game on Penn's website, so I assume that the game on 3/20 at Franklin Field is going be a no-go as far as spectators are concerned.by Iceberg - Other Sports

ugarte andyw2100 ice The lineup posted on Twitter: According to the Colgate rink announcer, "Jay Bloom" is coaching Cornell tonight... according to their play by play guy Leahy is pronounced Lee-hay. Don't forget the endless use of "suffocating"by Iceberg - Hockey

So Kevin Sneddon is (supposedly) retiring as Vermont head coach after this season and they'll be looking for a replacement. Per some folks on USCHO, Ben Syer is one of the several people being looked atby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 2020-02-01: Cornell 5 Princeton 3 - 4 years ago
Princeton took a lot of obstruction-type penalties in the game, which wasn't a coincidence since their defense had trouble 5-on-5. All that I saw were proper calls. Also, that 4th goal was kind of weird. From where I was watching, the puck just instantly slowed down on a pass and didn't go as far as one would expect (probably the ice).by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 2020-02-01: Cornell at Princeton - 4 years ago
Oh, absolutely. Those anemic power plays really set the tone and it should've been more than 2-0. Also, this isn't my first time seeing Bauld live, but he is really fast. If he had the hands he would be a starby Iceberg - Hockey

schoaff We ended up eating at a Korean place in Ctown that did table BBQ... Four Seasons, which was one of my favorite spots in Ithaca. They've been around at least 10 years at this point and have seemingly avoided the turnover that has happened elsewhere in Collegetownby Iceberg - Hockey

Some of the Ag Quad academic building lots should be permit-free after 5 PM on weekdays and all day during the weekends. Easy walk to the rink and should be easy to get outby Iceberg - Hockey

If that's how NMU plays on a regular basis, then they would be a BYE team in the ECAC this year. And they were missing one of their better players.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponent News 19-20 - 4 years ago
Yale gets blown out 7-0 at MSG in perhaps the largest margins of loss by any team in the conference this season. And BU goes up to Hanover and blows a 3-0 lead within 2 minutes and then a 4-3 lead within 1 minute to wind up with a loss, although one of the BU goals will probably wind up on ESPN.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 2020-01-11: Cornell at Union - 4 years ago
This game could've easily gone south. Union is a better team than their record but the broadcasters did mention that the younger Foo missed half the season, so I'm sure that had something to do with it.by Iceberg - Hockey

Re: Las Vegas Roll Call - 4 years ago
I was thinking of going to Las Vegas but decided against it. That's a very slow time compared to the rest of the year so I'm not surprised flights and lodging are still in the lower end of the price range. It should be a good timeby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponent News 19-20 - 4 years ago
dbilmes For some strange reason, I turned on the UMass-Brown game, which is currently airing on NESN. I have never seen such an empty rink. There appear to be more people on the ice then in the stands. And Brown got shutout 4-0 to no one's surprise. Hard to believe that arena was the same place Bob Marley had one of his last concerts Yale and Princeton did win their games, so it's a net poby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 2019-12-07: Cornell at Dartmouth - 4 years ago
That was one of the most aggressive opponent forechecks I've seen run all season. The result certainly wasn't ideal but this is still a good team and we'll see what they have in Las Vegas next month. Also, those Dartmouth alternates are horrendous and I wish they just used their normal home whites because those are a lot betterby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 2019-12-07: Cornell at Dartmouth - 4 years ago
Dartmouth decided to show up after getting whipped by Colgate last night. Even then, it took a goaltender standing on his head to keep this game closeby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 2019-12-06: Cornell 3 Harvard 1 - 4 years ago
To be fair, it's much less of a pain to get to Providence from Boston, especially without a vehicle, but still. In terms of road game attendance if you take out MSG and Harvard, the highest concentration of Cornell fans is probably at the games in Princeton because of the many alums in nearby cities and surrounding areasby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 2019-11-30: Cornell vs BU - 4 years ago
While not as good as some of the BU teams in past years, that team on the ice didn't look too bad. I'm a bit surprised their record is what it is. That may be the greater parity in the HEA this season with so many teams on the bubble and only one team in that conference well separated in the pairwise (BC)by Iceberg - Hockey
