Solid win. Looked dominant at times, at others a little passive. But given that Harvard is a decent team this was a good victory.

Harvard had like 10 good minutes. We controlled possession, outshot them better than 2-1 IIRC and won the battles on the boards. We looked like a much better team imo, though they obviously have some very, very skilled players.

I will say that their goal was gorgeous. Beautiful shot fake by Rathbone to wrongfoot Galajda and shift everyone out of position then a clean pass to a snipe from Abruzzese. A few minutes later Rathbone headfaked to shift the defense and snapped one off the crossbar. Other than that, they didn't show much that we couldn't shut down.

Malone's pass to Mitchell for the third goal made me weep.

Yeah, Harvard’s goal and the Mitchell goals were both things of beauty. The difference with our team this year from our other recent strong teams is that our skill level has caught up to our work ethic. Very exciting times indeed.

This is a great way to put it.

I used to look at nationally competitive teams, particularly western ones, and think "we're gonna have to drag these guys around the boards all night if we want to have a chance."

No more. We're one of them. After 25 years, Mike has finally attained his goal: Jeff Jackson's 1994 Lake Superior State.

Maybe I'm not reading this correctly, but how do we have 1 win in 2020?

i think the format is SEASON:GAME, so the streak started in the first game of the season ending in 2020.

The PP is generating some really good shots, have to think the start of the season was a little too productive, but right now going ofer when its actually creating solid chances on a team that scores pretty well is getting some under value. We are due to reverse that trend pretty soon.

the PK is still a bit ragged at times.

really controlled the boards all game, harvard has some skill and speed and the more we see that type of play the better in the long run as you will see it plenty if you get deep into the tourney.

The announcers for the ESPN+ feed were impressed with Cornell’s fans mentioning a few times how well they travelled and made their presence at Bright felt. For anyone who was there: About what percentage of the crowd would you say was Cornell fans?

A wide estimate 40-60%. There were a lot of empty seats on Harvard side, even at center ice. Those were likely sold, so 40% of sold and 60% of attendees.

Last night, in the game chat, I said "Harvard just had like 9 guys on the ice."

As it turns out, they had exactly nine guys on the ice, and seven were playing, while two were going to the bench.

In the photo below, players 8 and 9 are heading to the bench, but players 1-7 are actively engaged in playing hockey. (Players 1,2, and 3 are replacing players 8 and 9.)

Good, concise piece which captured the salient points (especially that we are 2-0 having won both road games in the "Big Three" round robin). Bravo.

The Harvard video announcers (who were fine AFAIC) said whereas most years it's 60/40 Cornell fans, this year it was 70/30.

Thompson will be interesting. A team on a roll can start to generate a lot of buzz. Typically only a sliver of the fans who go to Bright go up to Hanover. Maybe this year we'll see more. I hope so. It's actually a really fun trip, and Dartmouth is pretty.

My one gripe with the announcers is too often during the run of play they were engaged in chit-chat rather than calling the action. I found that distracting.

I'm cool with that on video. It would be unforgivable on audio only.

Age and I noted the weirdness of the assumption that a school's traveling fanbase would be a function of how many of the athletes were from the road location. It's a different mindset from a school where students don't give a shit unless they have a direct personal connection with the players. Very Boston.

I was actually going to state something along those lines. The game at Princeton is getting extremely scarce in regards to tickets. Last year, I was able to get a decent block of tix over a month out. Not so much now, or at least last time I checked.

I thought I’d “scout” Dartmouth last night by watching some of the replay of the Colgate v Dartmouth game. There was almost no crowd. CHN boxscore says 1300 but it didn’t look like anything close to that showed up.

Judging by my conversations with fans last night I think the turnout will be small. I could never understand why we can't get a few Bostonians to travel to a couple of close games. Even Brown is poorly attended, but much better than Dartmouth.

As an aside I have to say that the rink staff never fail to amaze me. Last year it was when they asked for my Snickers while I was tossing them. This year started off very well. When I asked the parking staff about the band bus, they directed me right to it and then found a place for me to park behind the rink where the bus was.

However when I was handing out newspapers by the main entrance, one of the staff got annoyed that I was constantly yelling "newspapers" and asked me to stop. Too much for his tender ears, I guess.

To be fair, it's much less of a pain to get to Providence from Boston, especially without a vehicle, but still. In terms of road game attendance if you take out MSG and Harvard, the highest concentration of Cornell fans is probably at the games in Princeton because of the many alums in nearby cities and surrounding areas
