Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Cornell in the Valley of the Sun - 4 months ago
chimpfood Now the announcers are wrong about how overtime works with the pairwise. Not to mention how they said the player who got ejected for a cross check to the head just has to control his stick better. Yikes. Yeah, the comment about “controlling the stick” had me howling. He had no idea what he was saying.by scoop85 - Hockey

chimpfood Hell of a shift from castagna. Quite true. But the PP was disappointing. A lot of fancy nothing.by scoop85 - Hockey
Re: Cornell in the Valley of the Sun - 4 months ago
Dafatone The announcer patting himself on the back for reading from the rulebook without referencing the rule regarding a defensive player pushing the offensive player into the goalie was a highlight. Really a weak production overall. The announcers are subpar, the feed is herky-jerky, and replays are an adventure. I guess the Pac12 Network has already begun it’s going out of business saleby scoop85 - Hockey

I hope to heck that call wasn’t on Robertson, since he was plastered into the goaltender by the ASU player.by scoop85 - Hockey

After Psenicka cleaned up the rebound for the 1-0 lead, he somehow gets stopped on a 2nd rebound. Still not sure how he wasn’t able to convert.by scoop85 - Hockey

scoop85 At 8:40 ET, I’m on the Pac12 Insider on the Roku channel. Watching a replay of a basketball game. Cautiously optimistic that our game will follow. Yep, game is live on the Roku channel, which is channel 325 on that platformby scoop85 - Hockey

rss77 Yes Princeton is getting top 100 players. Thinking Ivy WBB is going to be a three team race between Columbia, Harvard, and Princeton. Smith has not been able too attract top shelf talent to East Hill. Princeton’s always been strong, but Columbia and others have left us stuck in our tracks. Time for a change at the top.by scoop85 - Other Sports

ugarte upprdeck i didnt check to see if it was streaming but cornell-osu is on the b10 channel tonightClose dual. Lost 21-20, but was up 20-18 and leading the last match until a takedown with 25 seconds left. And defending champ Vito Arujau is still sitting with an injury. tbh I think he's being extra cautious because as soon as the NCAA season ends he has to drop 8 pounds for the Olympic trialsby scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Women 2023-24 - 4 months ago
Cornell women with the 3-2 OT win over previously undefeated Clarkson at Lynah tonight. Clarkson led 1-0 and then 2-1 before Izzy Daniel tied it with about 10 minutes left in the 3rd. Delianedis scored the game winner. Both goaltenders were superb. Cornell got all four power plays, and the Clarkson coach was staring down the referees after the game.by scoop85 - Hockey

Forward Parker Murray from Chilliwack of the BCHL has committed to Cornell. He’s a 20 year old 6’5” power forward who has a heavy shot. He’s the son of longtime NHLer Glen Murray.by scoop85 - Hockey

Al DeFlorio Cornell opens with a 19-0 run. Colgate cuts lead to 40-33 at the half. I'm at the game, and a decent crowd here. No concession stands are open; they have 2 vending machines. Cornell should be embarrassed.by scoop85 - Other Sports

Trotsky Dafatone When's the last time we played three games in a row against the same team outside of a playoff scenario? My guess is never. But it will make for a fun project to output my db and run it through a simple counter. You can free up your time for other pursuits. Good to see Nazir get back in the flow of today’s game. I continue to be impressed with Okereke—how was this guy a walk on? And Beccles continues to improve and get more quality PT. The team has hardly played at home, and finally gets back to Newman next week in what shapes up to be an interesting game against Colgate. The Raiders have been up-and-down, and come off a bad loss yesterday at Ioby scoop85 - Other Sports

dbilmes ugarte Afternoon game against Marist. 15-0 lead, Marist came back to tie at 48 in the third, Cornell pulls away with a 26-13 4th Quarter. 6-5 record so far. It would have been nice if we had been able to defeat Syracuse after building up a 14-point lead. The women's team has been beating a lot of weak teams, so their record will be misleading heading into Ivy play. Yale, on the other handby scoop85 - Other Sports

Re: Recruits 2024 and Beyond - 5 months ago
Trotsky Both wins were upsets. Canada West was 4 of 5 in the group round. If I'm reading this right, neither Long nor Wolfenberg were on the final roster. They and Roest all made the 2022 Canada West roster and played. Ok, that makes sense. I misread the 2023 roster.by scoop85 - Hockey
Recruits 2024 and Beyond - 5 months ago
Time for a new recruiting thread. Goalie Erick Roest, who’s a 2024 recruit, was the starting goalie for Canada West who won gold at the World Junior A Challenge in Nova Scotia. Roest stopped 30 of 32 shots in the championship game as Canada West beat Canada East 7-2. Roest stopped 37 shots in Canada West’s 4-3 OT upset over the U.S. in the semifinal. Re: Womens Basketball - 5 months ago
rss77 Red women pulled out a gutsy win over the Bonnies last night. They have some good 1st years like Kust and Clarke. Unfortunately like the last 2 seasons they have no reliable outside shooters. Like in football maybe it's time to move on from Smith as Head Coach. Yep, the other Ivies (especially Princeton and Columbia!) have developed far stronger programs than Cornell. I’ve seen some mentions on here of the Sun’s hockey coverage, so I want to personally thank all of those who tune into our coverage and read! Pghas update on Tyler Wishart - back from injury and seems to be hitting his stride - 4 points in 2 games over the weekend, primary helper on OT winner, player of the game, and now 7 pts in 8 games. Charlie Major (from Skaneatlas aka Skinny atlas) also having a solid year for the Chicago Steel w 13 points in 18 games. Swampy Dafatone ugarte Trotsky ugarteI am still annoyed at their terror at any forecheck and we have ONE player on the team who likes - actually likes - to shoot the puck (Bancroft) and every time he's on the wing with space, whoever is passing it to him handcuffs him so he can't one-time it. Morgan Barron would have killed someone by now. I agree with this generally, but Penny and Walsh alby scoop85 - Hockey
