Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Maine Game, televised? - 21 years ago
Give them a break Al, it's X-mas/New Years break. (Notice a recurring theme here?) Interesting though, that they have a preview of the wrestling contest and the men's basketball game, but not hockey.by littleredfan - Hockey
Cornell vs. Maine, 12/28 - 21 years ago
i wish this game would start already....post score updates here (when it starts) anyone wanna make some predictions? I'm feeling a 4-2 very tight Cornell loss (with one ENG).by littleredfan - Hockey

I think the miscapitalization was an editorial error. Usually they do capitalize department names.by littleredfan - Hockey
Re: Maine v. Harvard - 21 years ago
Princeton goes on to lose ALL of their games on the England tour. You know, it sure would've been nice for them to at least rack up some kind of wins (even if only exhibition ones) to make them optimistic as they look to salvage the season. Losing to a foreign country not in North America nor on the mainland of Europe just stinks. But they WILL make the ECAC playoffs! Wouldn't it be just greatby littleredfan - Hockey
Re: LeNeveu and World Juniors - 21 years ago
can we start a new thread, maybe entitled "Coverage of LeNeveu at the World Juniors"by littleredfan - Hockey

Re: [OT] Sarah Hughes and Harvard? - 21 years ago
Getting rid of early admissions also helps disadvantaged students. A lot of them don't want to apply early for fear that they'll get a dumpy aid package (mostly work study and loans, and few grants). Though it meets their financial need, they have to work their butt off even more. These kids would rather wait till regular decisions so they can compare their aid packages. Unfortunately those sby littleredfan - Hockey
Re: Back-up goalies - 21 years ago
Marr came as a transfer from Northeastern; I believe he had to sit out half the year. It'll be tougher to block shots and really play our defensive game. I think Maine is a little faster than either Harvard, BU, OSU....and, like I said at some point, the game will probably be like playing UHN (I seem to remember them having pretty solid team speed). I envision Maine getting a few more 2 on 1 brby littleredfan - Hockey

Re: LeNeveu and World Juniors - 21 years ago
For anyone who had any doubts about whether Lenny should go or not, just the fact that the roster selection is really one of the top stories on tsn.ca just goes to show that Dave's getting an incredible amount of exposure from the World Juniors. I mean, if you look at the pictures, the players cut from the team had tape recorders and cameras shoved in their faces for the evening news!! I dont thby littleredfan - Hockey
Re: Above it all - 21 years ago
I hate to think of it as an excuse, even though it may well really be that if we do indeed lose to Maine and it turns out our goaltending was shaky. I like to think of it more as a disappointment, like BRA alluded to, that we can't have our full team there with all its balance of defense, offense, and great goaltending to go up against the impressive Maine team (people keep talking about their sby littleredfan - Hockey
Re: Maine v. Harvard - 21 years ago
And in other action, Princeton loses 5-2 to Nottingham of England. I hope Coach Quesnelle rights that ship quickly. Being the doormat of the ECAC/Ivy this year is one thing; being the doormat of the world is anotherby littleredfan - Hockey

Taken over the top job because of his consistent performances? Makes it sound like he took the job over from Matt this year (guess they didn't realize Matt graduated)by littleredfan - Hockey
Re: OT: Cornell to name new prez today - 21 years ago
Ok, I know this is even more off topic, but this just came to my attention as I was reading the new Prez press release on www.cornell.edu. Has anyone taken a look at Cornell's home page lately, and compared it to those of the other Ivies? I think that save for perhaps Columbia's, ours is easily the nastiest, disgusting, pathetic excuse for a home page welcoming all the world to our school. Whoby littleredfan - Hockey

I believe he had relatives that lived there, so I think he lived with them and attended private school (Portledge School?) while playing for Apple Core, which was also Ryan's old team.by littleredfan - Hockey
Re: Just in case you missed it... - 21 years ago
The Harvards ? If I may quote from Saved By the Bell, "North, South, East, or West, theres only one.....HARRRRRRRRRVARD" (in response to the Stansbury (read:Stanford) college recruiter calling them the Harvard of the west)by littleredfan - Hockey

Evan, whats up with that man? Adam Wodon IS really good...he doesn't need the existence of crappy amateur Harvard broadcasters to make him look good! You best apologize....by littleredfan - Hockey
recruiting - 21 years ago
Maybe this topic has already been explored (people were discussing it a bit on another thread), but I'm just curious as to how the recruiting process works, for anyone that's familiar with it. Does Coach have a bunch of contacts all over Canada or something that recommend players to him? How much do the assistant coaches travel to meet with prospective student-athletes? Does Schafer ever go outby littleredfan - Hockey

Cornell, huh? I have my bets placed on NoDak...IMHO, they're the best thing to come out of that state since...?by littleredfan - Hockey
Re: Thoughts on CU-UWM - 21 years ago
Re Marr vs. Chabot starting in place of LeNeveu during Estero...I pulled this from Marr's ocsn roster bio: His preparation now should pay off if LeNeveu is off with the Canadian team in December. No similar statement was made for Chabot, so infer what you will about who would get the nod. Does anyone know if Marr saw any playing time while with Northeastern?by littleredfan - Hockey
Re: Harvard, team to beat in ECAC? - 21 years ago
I would say Cornell, Harvard, Yale, and Dartmouth all appear the 'teams to beat' in the ECAC. Harvard really has been consistently winning as of late, and I suspect that the next matchup against them will be a good battle. They've only lost against us, BU, and Brown (which was an early season game where they hadn't really gelled yet). It'll be REALLY interesting to see how they fare against Maby littleredfan - Hockey

Re: The Polls... - 21 years ago
I wish we could ban discussion on polls. Theres no point to polls or discussion on them at all. Just play and win and enjoy the games.by littleredfan - Hockey

I predict 3-2 WMU over Cornell.by littleredfan - Hockey
Re: Cornell Hockey makes the Ft. Worth paper! - 21 years ago
Its great that he's interested in Cornell. However, barring any early departures it would mean that next year we'd have 4 goalies (if he decides to come). And assuming Lenny's here...he'd probably be pretty far back on the depth chart. Given this, I'm not sure why he would want to come here...by littleredfan - Hockey
