Re: Clarkson at Cornell postgame thread (2/21/06) - 18 years ago
ithacatajec1OatI would rather have a great leap forward in the pairwise ranking. That happened as well... How is a quality win defined? see basically non-conference win vs top 15 RPI team; - so all we've got is the home win with Mich State.by redGrinch - Hockey
Re: St. Lawrence at Cornell postgame thread (1/20/06) - 18 years ago
calgARI '07 Definitely the latter. As a first round pick in a conference that doesn't have many first round picks, you are expected to dominate games like Pokuluk did tonight and last Friday against Quinnipiac. At this rate, very little chance he'll be back next year. If he begins to exceed potential, then there is no way in hell he'll be back next year. Either way, I wouldn't be totally shocby redGrinch - Hockey
Re: Iggulden Signed by SJ - 18 years ago
Yes, he's still in Cleveland - but his rights are owned by San Jose. I'm sure he's got a 2-way contract (because it's entry level also), so I'm not sure if he's making all that much more at the AHL level, but if he gets called up now, he'll make at least $450k (league minimum). W/o the NHL contract, he would not have been able to be called up at all. I'm not exactly sure about this, but w/o thby redGrinch - Hockey
Re: 2006-7 Schedule - 18 years ago
Chris '03bothmanWell, Harvard managed to get a home and home with UND, UNH, and Maine in recent years....they haven't been scheduling the likes of RIT and Canisius To be fair, you have to look at geography. Harvard has the advantage of playing in the middle of HEA country. Cornell's closest non-conference opponents are RIT, Canisius, Niagara, Mercyhurst, RMU, and Army probably. It's a far cryby redGrinch - Hockey

Re: Rangers v.s Capitals - 18 years ago
Arggghhhh! Olie does a great job, but Lundquist?! Caps have the shootout video on their page. They've been very good about posting highlights after every game that CSN televises. At least it wasn't Moore that won it for them. I wonder what the rule is with injuries at the end of the shootout. Witt had left the game for good..... wonder if the league had thought about that.... i.e. if itby redGrinch - Hockey
Re: ECAC vs HE, a modest proposal - 18 years ago
Wish something like this were easier done than said. I think it would require NESN or YES to come in and help arrange it..... it certainly helped the ACC-Big 10 challenge that ESPN/ESPN 2 would televise all the games and it's been a great success since. HE's commissioner used to be the ECAC commissioner so it can't really be a foreign concept. ACC/Big 10 challenge uses home courts though - thoby redGrinch - Hockey

how can kindret be playing if we wasn't among the starting 18? Does NCAA allow injury subs?by redGrinch - Hockey
Re: MSU v. Cornell (Sat 10.29) - Game Thread - 18 years ago
According to gametracker, mugford and kennedy, 2 min each for roughing. MSU - fretter 2 for goalie interferance, nightingale - 2 for roughing, 2 for chargingby redGrinch - Hockey

Yahoo maps is probably ok, but I notice that it seems just the city and state are being fed into the link . If you can add a street address to the link, it'd be a good first step.by redGrinch - Hockey
Re: Harvard - 18 years ago
Ummm, w/o offending all the Penn hoops fans out there, wouldn't it have been smarter for CSTV from a ratings standpoint to move the Cornell/Harvard game to 8 and televise the Cornell/Penn hoops game at 530pm? How can CSTV not want to see Lynah at its best (or worst depending on your perspective) in primetime? And from a Cornell standpoint, it's not like the Lynah fans will stream into the b-balby redGrinch - Hockey

Re: NHL Draft / Sasha # 14 overall - 18 years ago
It still looks weird to me; Lynah Rink and a Cornell sweater on the Caps web page (http://www.washingtoncaps.com/) wow, Finley is big..... Let's compare if we will who is projected to be on the Caps blue line in a few years: Sasha 6'5" 220 Joe Finley 6'7" 229 Jeff Schultz 6'6" 220 (1st rounder from last year) Nolan Yonkman 6'6" 236 (99 draft pick and rotton injury lby redGrinch - Hockey
Re: NHL Draft / Sasha # 14 overall - 18 years ago
It would surprise me, unless Pokuluk wants out of Ithaca. Granted we had the lockout last season, but Washington signed neither Green or Schultz, their 2 1st round D-men, and they continued to play in juniors. Recently, they haven't been pulling players early to put them in the AHL; if they think he's ready for the big club, then they'll try to get him. 2 years ago, they signed Eminger immediaby redGrinch - Hockey
Re: NHL Draft / Sasha # 14 overall - 18 years ago
Below also from the Caps web site. As a caps fan, I'm still trying to decide if I like the pick at that spot (i.e. did they get the best value for that spot in the draft). I wanted Sasha to goto Washington, but figured it'd be in the 2nd round, and was a little worried that Washington's picks were a bit too low in the 2nd to get him. But McPhee really wanted him, and didn't want to take any chby redGrinch - Hockey
Re: Regarding Shootouts - 18 years ago
Ties never bothered me; and the shootout really doesn't bother me either.... I still watching the Sweden/Canada 1994 gold medal game that went to a shootout and the tension and anticipation were incredible..... and I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything without perpetual overtime. But with that said, there is nothing better than Stanley Cup playoff overtime games...... Regarding chby redGrinch - Hockey

Re: Congradulations on the Minnesota Referees win !!! - 19 years ago
Not biased, but getting CCHA refs for the game was probably not good for us either. CCHA called the most penalties of the 4 conferences (maybe even the 6). I honestly can only think of 1, maybe 2 things I though could've been called against Minnesota. But a couple of the Cornell calls were questionable. Cornell plays a more physical game, and could've been hurt by the ref draw. I'm not goiby redGrinch - Hockey
Re: Which loss was more painful? - 19 years ago
2003 was painful. Today was not far behind. Minnesota was the weakest of the 1 seeds, struggling on offense, and prime for the picking. I didn't think we were out of today's game at all - and we were wearing them down. Lucia's quoted as saying they talked in the locker room that they needed to score quick because they were getting tired. The more I think about Schafer and the teams he builby redGrinch - Hockey
