Re: Cornell vs St Lawrence 02/22 - 5 months ago
chimpfood In the Sun article it says schaf will miss the next home series (union/RPI) for his son’s wedding. I’m certainly interested to see a test run for Casey as HC This implies Casey will not be at the wedding. Does this mean he has had a falling out with Schafer?by Swampy - Hockey

Trotsky 5 point weekend for the first time this season. Just keep it going and build conference points. The ECAC is what matters now. For my first 20+ years as a Cornell fan it was all that mattered at all. We couldn't even conceive of an NCAA title. I don't understand this. If your first 20 years ended this year, you would have started in 2005, by which time we'd won two NCAA titles. In fby Swampy - Hockey

Jeff Hopkins '82 scoop85 I just discovered that Connor McDavid’s 2nd cousin, London McDavid, will be coming to Ithaca in the fall She was on the BC U18 team. She must be pretty good. If she's going to play for #6 Cornell, she must be pretty good. Are any of the current seniors going to be eligible next year due to COVID? It would be really cool to have a legitimate McDavid playing with aby Swampy - Hockey

BearLover A few months ago there was some hoopla on here about future lacrosse recruiting classes not looking too good. Has that improved at all, or not really? It's hard to tell. I analyzed Inside Lacrosse's recruiting data last August, and I updated the analysis for incoming classes last fall (2024) and next (2025). Since then the status of a number of players has changed. TimV Snowball, that was beautiful. One is not enough. Please post more- I would love to read your thoughts as this and future seasons unfold. This place was getting dark and bitter. When you can, go to more road games. Also a great experience. I recommend skipping Brown. I disagree. This year in particular, Brown may be important as a chance for the team to wake up (and avoid another eventby Swampy - Hockey

BearLover No, I think you have this backwards tbh. >I suggest there’s coaching issue >adamw says no, you’d have to be stupid to think that >I ask adamw, “OK, do you have an alternative viewpoint (as in, not having to do with the coaching) as to why the entire team has regressed this season?” >adamw claims he’s answered this question already On the other hand, Tom Lento’sby Swampy - Hockey
Re: CHN: Cornell Battling Expectations After Inconsistent First Half - 5 months ago
I just read the latest Sun article, and Casey's comment summarizes what's wrong this season: Casey Jones “I thought last night we probably deserved a better fate. Didn’t get it,” Jones said. “So we should have responded today and came out with the effort and attitude to get it done here tonight. But we wanted some shortcuts.”by Swampy - Hockey

marty Dafatone Something that hasn't come up much is that sure, we only lost one player, but Seger was about as good a player last year as I've ever seen at Cornell. As an offensive leader and captain - yes! And a face-off machine! But strangely, if my memory serves, this year has not seen a drastic decrease in face-offs won.by Swampy - Hockey

Between the Covid shut down/running into a Maryland juggernaut in lacrosse/the loss in the frozen four/syracuses last second miracle (lacrosse again)/bemidji/etc. So my apologies. Re: Mike Schafer retiring 2025 - 6 months ago
BearLover Others have mentioned this already but Syer had a great record taking over for Mike in his absences, until he took over for an extended period when Mike was out with a health issue in 2021-22. During this period the team struggled. I do wonder if that’s when Mike made the determination that Syer wasn’t ready. How did Casey do during this stretch?by Swampy - Hockey

Al DeFlorio abmarks Swampy Maybe we should put the genie back in. I'm not exactly sure what the reference to warmups actually means. dbilmes I made it up to Lynah this past weekend for the first time since pre-pandemic. While I was glad that we won the game Friday night against Colgate, I left the rink slightly disappointed. The atmosphere just didn't live up to my expectations and memories of previous home games. First of all, the student sections were great. They eventually filled in, and did a great job with the cheers, chby Swampy - Hockey

upprdeck We have seen head shots get reviewed. And from that angle what he did is unclear other than the guy went down. Could have pulled his pants for all that shows. According to Schafer, Donaldson claims he hit the Colgate player with his fist, not the end of his stick. I don't know what the rule is, but the Colgate player was in the crease.by Swampy - Hockey

Trotsky I was thinking, "we never score on those!" I defy anybody to find fault with that period. OK, the pp sucked, but otherwise that was divine. Also, admissions standards appear to have dropped.
