Re: Alumni in the Pros - March 2006 - 18 years ago
mgl11For that matter, Bâby was left off the clear day roster in Chicago. He's been out for about a month with an injury -- concussion I think. Not that the Wolves are making the playoffs. Bâby is ( I think) in the last year of his contract with the Thrashers... and to be fair, not very high on the depth chart. He hasn't realy developed the way atlanta hoped and is not concidered a tby The Rancor - Hockey
Re: Interesting thoughts from Adam Wodon (USCHO Chat) - 18 years ago
I agree with you but often it seems that individual players hold the puck so long before either passing or shooting that they give the defense time to set up again. I think some fans are reacting to this more than the quality of the shooting lane. exactly what i meantby The Rancor - Hockey
Re: Interesting thoughts from Adam Wodon (USCHO Chat) - 18 years ago
i think the team takes too few shots (of quality and in general), holds the puck too long and does not create enough odd man rushes- because they are a defensive minded team, not and offensive minded one. I think the Schafer game plan is score 2 or 3 and shut em down, not lets get up 5-3 and keep hammering the net. how many times have i been pulling my hair out yelling "shoot! shoot! just shby The Rancor - Hockey

billhowardcmoberg One wonders if the solid style of play discourages star-caliber forwards from considering Cornell. You hear that said in college basketball about teams that play the deliberate Princeton style, such as Bill Carmody's Northwestern Team. Players want to win 92-85, not 51-46. I wonder sometimes why with, say, seven minutes left Schafer does not 'unleash the dogs of war' and lby The Rancor - Hockey

I too had not heard of Phill's passing. that is truly sad news. phill sharpened my skates for almost 20 years (since i was in mites!), until last year when i moved to florida. great people, the ambis family. i was just telling my knife sharpener about phill's skills in sharpening skates this week.by The Rancor - Hockey

Re: McKee: the solution to USA hockey's problems? - 18 years ago
many of the top young us players were kept off the Olympic team this time around. its stupid because many of the younger players such as zack pairse and ryan miller (a bad example of a play making combo to be sure) have all players with each other in usndp, national junior teams or whatever. the politicks of keeping the chris cheelios' and mike modanos (love those guys but come on now...4 time loby The Rancor - Hockey

Re: OT: speed skating - 18 years ago
for ski jumpers it makes for more lift, but for downhill its spreads the friction out and makes you go faster somehow. right?by The Rancor - Hockey
Re: OT: speed skating - 18 years ago
longer skates, like longer skis, make you go faster. so most likely. as for the skis, they are realy more wing than ski and i would immagine that they follow the same rules... more wing = more lift = more splintered femurs.by The Rancor - Hockey
