Re: Alumni in the Playoffs - 2010 - 14 years ago
Josh '99 pfibiger Amazing work. One omission: Matt Moulson's New York Islanders missed the playoffs The Islanders missing the playoffs goes without saying. This whole thread was just a set-up for that, wasn't it?by Lauren '06 - Hockey
Re: Travel Thread - 14 years ago
I preferred Salzburg to Vienna personally, but that may have had to do with the timing... Austria was hosting the UEFA tournament that week, and there were games there. One of the host site stipulations was that they had to put the public event stuff in the major touristy areas, so imagine all those beautiful monuments and buildings hidden behind beer pavilions and papered over with soccer crap.by Lauren '06 - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Literature Fans - 14 years ago
I always hear widely polarized reactions to Palahniuk, but I haven't read any of his books... just an article he wrote praising Amy Hempel, whose short stories I sometimes love and sometimes think are overrated. I just started "Henderson the Rain King" by Saul Bellow. Because if there's anything I need in my life, it's more Ivy League hand-wringing.by Lauren '06 - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Regionals Sunday March 28 - 14 years ago
Travis 02 Surprised to just tune into the feed and I literally just saw 3 BC goals. Now 9-4 BC. Too bad the ECAC is showing so poorly this year. Well, Yale still knocked off UND. That's pretty cool.by Lauren '06 - Hockey

Greenberg '97 Jacob '06 I did get an email today from Andy asking for a $75 donation in light of all the success last weekend. Maybe the bump is bigger if they harass you and ask for it. $75? You got off easy. I was asked for $250. I wonder if the difference is the graduation year or the MD after my name. Based on my limited experience with Cornell fundraising, the amount is usually based onby Lauren '06 - Other Sports

Chris H82 I ordered 2 on Tuesday, paid for regular shipping, .....and got home from work today(Thursday) here in Seattle to find the box sitting on my doorstep! Oh that is so not fair. I ordered mine on Tuesday too, and I'm apparently not getting it until April 5. (Vancouver.) Is the international border so vast?by Lauren '06 - Hockey
Re: CU & ECAC Tourney on TV - 14 years ago
Scersk '97 Lauren '06I'll definitely be investigating sub-legal streams closer to event time. As will I. Thankfully, we also have the Denver vs. RIT test case prior to our game. I suppose I could always hitchhike to Bellingham and find a sports bar.by Lauren '06 - Hockey
Re: CU & ECAC Tourney on TV - 14 years ago
Rita Lauren '06 Soooo, no internet video options for this weekend, I take it? Lauren, Try espn360.com. Some of the regional games are on there, I'm not sure if you have the option of getting the espnu feed through that as well. Worth a try. What about that justin.tv thing (never tried it, just seen it mentioned a bunch of times). It looks like espn360 only has NMU vs. SCSU listed for Fridayby Lauren '06 - Hockey

sockralex amerks127 sockralex French Rage Cornell knows that you can't get 89 points on a triple word-score since 89 is not a multiple of 3 (unless I'm missing something here). Great point. v4 a1 c3 a1 t1 e1 d2 =13 it would depend on where you lay the letters down on a triple word (double or triple letter points) and what tiles were used next to it. One would need to turn that 1by Lauren '06 - Other Sports

munchkin Done and done. See what you think about this. The demon bear is bigger, and the C is removed entirely. I also added the comma to make it grammatically correct. Evil Dream-Crushing, Soul Devouring Juggernaut Bear Looks like we've moved past this one, but it's definitely my favorite. From a distance it looks like the bear is destroying Tokyo.by Lauren '06 - Hockey
Re: You Are the Committee - 14 years ago
jkahn If Michigan holds on, our regional, if they go by the numbers, could be: 2 Denver, 7 Cornell, 10 No. Mich, 15 RIT Pretty sweet bracket, especially if Denver continues to struggle.by Lauren '06 - Hockey
Re: "Touchdown" the Big Red Bear - 14 years ago
I believe that's the name of the original live bear mascot from however many decades ago--it's not like it was named in the 2000s.by Lauren '06 - Other Sports
Re: Basketball Selection Show - 14 years ago
You really don't get it, do you? The point isn't which side of the argument you're on, the point is you brought self-serious political wankery into what had been a joke.by Lauren '06 - Other Sports

Moulson now with a goal. 4-2 Isles, end of second.by Lauren '06 - Hockey

Moulson with one assist in the first period against Vancouver. I meant to go, had the date circled on my calendar and everything, but I ran out of money.by Lauren '06 - Hockey
Re: Other Scores, Sunday March 14 - 14 years ago
billhoward Did Yale's goalie really say this on College Hockey News? And isn't Yale's Achille's Heel now more literal? CHN To add to the remarkable nature of this series, the only goal of the game came shorthanded, of all things, for Brown. Mark Arcobello was flying over the blueline with the puck and collided with Yale teammate Andrew Miller. Jack Maclellan was there to grab the puck and buzby Lauren '06 - Hockey

Jeff Hopkins '82 Al DeFlorio ithacat ugarte ithacat * Winner goes to the Final Four in Utica. Loser gets two weekends in Utica. HEYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Don't forget to tip your waitresses. When you put it like that... I believe the last 2 times IHS made it to Utica they were led by Dustin Brown and Andy Iles. This year's team is led by a bunch of lax rats and grinders. Surby Lauren '06 - Hockey
Re: Dryden & Nieuwendyk Jersey Retirement Video - 14 years ago
KeithK mnagowski So let's wait and see if Pelosi the accomplished leader makes a speech appropriate to graduation speeches before bitching about her. But it's fun bitching about Nancy. And her political agenda has a more dircet affect on my life. And she didn't just have her jersey retired by the Big Red. (Now that would be an occasion to bitch!) If Nancy Pelosi had played ice hockey at Cornell mby Lauren '06 - Hockey

French Rage hugel phillysportsfan Thats great to get the band to go to the away basketball games. Do you guys usually go to the away basketball games or? Band went to the Penn game last year . Just the way the scheduling worked out this year, that instead of sending one large band to the hockey game like we normally would, a slightly smaller band will be at both hockey and basketball at both Hby Lauren '06 - Other Sports

Re: Latest Cornell football candidates - 14 years ago
Josh '99Lauren, why do you hate America? It's a condition of my study permit. KeithK Lauren '06 I don't see people so aggressive about changing the fortunes of the baseball team, or the soccer team, or any other non-football sport that's not raking in league championships... many of which receive no support from the university at all. What's so great about football that it deserves more attby Lauren '06 - Other Sports

HeafDog Lauren '06 Jim Hyla Some nice comments about their experience at Lynah on siouxsports.com forum. Here's a link to some pix one of their fans posted. Of course they're mostly of the Sioux, but it interesting to see some of our color through their eyes. Aww, they put a little flag in their hotel room window! That's so cute. My sarcasm detector isn't working right now, so I don't know if yoby Lauren '06 - Hockey

Re: North Dakota Pregame - 14 years ago
Rita So after an almost 2 month absence from home, it seems like REDCAST is having problems loading. Auuggghhh. Is this a big home sports weekend with Basketball, wrestling etc. all trying to be streamed at the same time? I was about to reply saying I didn't have any trouble, but now the feed's just dropped.by Lauren '06 - Hockey
Re: Latest Cornell football candidates - 14 years ago
To clarify my own position here: dbilmes may be advocating to fold the football team, but I'm not. I just don't understand why fixing it at any cost is such a priority for people given a) the program's long-standing mediocrity and b) the baffling restrictions placed on the sport by the Ivy League. I don't see people so aggressive about changing the fortunes of the baseball team, or the soccer tby Lauren '06 - Other Sports
