Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: NCAA regionals in Springfield - 4 weeks ago
The sheet may have been wrong, but they could've actually paid attention to the ice.by arugula - Hockey
Re: Men's lax Cornell at Penn 3/30/2024 - 4 weeks ago
It's a relief to get through Yale and Princeton. Penn seems to be the last of the upper echelon Ivy teams. But the sloppiness on D can really bite you against even lesser teamsby arugula - Other Sports

Watching the recording of the game. Ten minutes in, they’re still identifying the Maine goalie as the other guy who was sick. Amazing. Anyone know whether there are any clips of Jason’s call floating around?by arugula - Hockey

Anyone interested in two for tomorrow at face-45. . Section 13, L 7 and 8.by arugula - Hockey
Re: NCAA Round 1 - Maine - 4 weeks ago
Umass controlled the latter part of the game clearly. Denver can be slowed and ground down. I was at the old DU Arena in 1986 where we lost the two game total goal quarter final 8-7. Had we not given up the lead, we would have had a national semifinal against Harvard-Nieuwendyk v. Fusco. Imagine that. As a result of this trauma, I will forever hate Denver(the University, not the city, have seveby arugula - Hockey

Walsh oenalty? Didn’t see it in the arena? Bad?by arugula - Hockey

4 out of 9 have us winning the region. That’s remarkable.by arugula - Hockey

Slajchert is good. Listed as a senior. Played three years, missing 20-21.by arugula - Other Sports

It says “his coach” told them. Who’s his coach?by arugula - Other Sports
Re: NCAA regionals in Springfield - 5 weeks ago
Actually not convinced that they are selling. If you look at the venue site, all the available tickets are in two sections. The suggests that they're holding back. A refund for Saturday isn't helpful. I can't go Saturday but I want them to be playing. IIRC Albany 2010 was a foursome of Cornell, RIT, and UNH--all local ish and national power Denver. Empty.by arugula - Hockey
Re: NCAA regionals in Springfield - 5 weeks ago
Any thoughts about tickets? Goi g through the venue-the seating chart is offering g hardly anything and every time I check, the sections change. The Cornell link requires buying both games. I can’t make Saturday. Any idea what’s going on with the venue?or if the package requirement will go away? I just recall regionals in Albany which were empty so kinda surprised.by arugula - Hockey

If that analysis holds than we can take advantage.by arugula - Hockey
Re: Lake Placid-2024 - 5 weeks ago
RichH jtwcornell91 Jeff Hopkins '82 To give you an idea of how second class this tournament feels, there are no programs at the rink and not even a QR code to scan for one (like there was last year). They just didn't bother creating one. Also, there's a single tiny stand selling souvenirs. None of it has the name of the schools on it - all the souvenirs simply have the tournament logo. Yes. Hear hear. I recall the 2010 game in Albany with my Cornell roommate who has since passed. I thought of him today.by arugula - Hockey
Re: Lake Placid-2024 - 5 weeks ago
Really two issues. First a more central location, second a better game day presentation. No program just astonishing. That’s one of the highlights of sports fandom. Digging through the old boxes and finding a program from a game from 40 years ago.by arugula - Hockey
Re: Lake Placid-2024 - 5 weeks ago
The way I’m thinking about it is that Cornell is by far the largest ECAC school with a huge number of alumni in the NYC area. ECAC instead holds the tournament in a tiny village which is difficult to reach and is near the smallest ECAC schools. Granted if Cornell is not in the final four it may not draw but as I mentioned before you can get a crowd for anything when there are 15 million peopleby arugula - Hockey
Re: Lake Placid-2024 - 5 weeks ago
Fair enough but the ECAc at Boston Garden (post HEA split) drew well.by arugula - Hockey
Re: ECAC Final - St. Lawrence?! - 5 weeks ago
Any idea if Seger is playing hurt? Not taking many face offs.by arugula - Hockey
Re: Lake Placid-2024 - 5 weeks ago
adamw Jeff Hopkins '82 adamw Also - Albany is a sh*thole. It may be a shithole, but it's our shithole. You're right, I guess. I just wish that Lake Placid didn't rip off the fans. The woman checking me in at my hotel yesterday told me that all the hotels look forward to the ECAC tournament...so they can jack up their rates! I agree that sucks - and I've tried to get in the ear ofby arugula - Hockey
Re: Lake Placid-2024 - 5 weeks ago
I seem to recall that the Boston Garden was nearly full for the ECAC in the mid 80s. I get that we can’t go back there, but how about Barclays or UBS or the Prudential. I’m sure MSG is too pricy. In the highly likely event that Cornell is in the semi finals there will be a strong likely five figure not half empty crowd. Having the event in small to tiny markets guarantees small to tiny crowdsby arugula - Hockey
Re: ECAC Semifinal - Dartmouth - 5 weeks ago
If we win we may get to a three seed but with all the geographic shenanigans it doesn’t necessarily result in a favorable placement or matchup.by arugula - Hockey
Re: ECAC Semifinal - Dartmouth - 5 weeks ago
adamw Swampy arugula And we’re 13 in the pwr… The problem is that if we lose, I don't think the ECAC is a three-bid league this year no matter what the pwr says. The only thing that matters is what the Pairwise says. And the Pairwise says Cornell must win tomorrow to make the NCAAs. I was kidding. If we lose we drop to 16.by arugula - Hockey

I would say it’s shocking except recall how tough SLU was in Canton against us and against Q and Q does this every year.by arugula - Hockey
