Re: HARVARD SUCKS - 9 years ago
Jeff Hopkins '82 Towerroad pfibiger Jeff Hopkins '82 Towerroad J Whittington was in fact the last student at Harvard to receive a B. Born in 1903 and after barely leaving the Andover Academy he matriculated in 1924 at the age of 21. It is rumored that during his tenure there is no reported sighting of his ever entering an academic building. The Brothels and Bars of Cambridge were another story. Bby Josh '99 - Hockey
Re: HARVARD SUCKS - 10 years ago
Jeff Hopkins '82 Trotsky Harvard USCHO thread now reporting that another top Harvard prospect, Jeremy Bracco, has decommitted. If the other reports are correct that means four of their best have now split. I suppose there is a hypothetical number where we start feeling bad for them. Nope.I think I'd feel bad if it got to the point where they lost so many players that they couldn't field a teaby Josh '99 - Hockey

KeithK kicksaveNow here comes the rant which will be very unpopular on this forum but I'm gonna do it anyway. The band is too damn loud and obnoxious. Everytime there's a break in the action you can't even talk to your neighbor because the band is going all out. I realize they need their practice but it is just too much and when the crowd is sparse it just seems to echo and seems louder than nby Josh '99 - Hockey

ursusminor Third, Cornell's football field and basketball arena have also been rated.I'm not sure how Lynah scores lower in "Neighborhood" (3*) than both Schoellkopf and Newman (both 4*) when they're within 500 feet of one another. Similarly, Lynah scores higher for "Access" (4*) than the others (3*). For example, regarding Newman, it says:The interstate does not run conveniby Josh '99 - Hockey

jkahn Estero Tournament Sun. - Mon. Dec. 28-29 Day 1- Game 1: Miami vs. Notre Dame Game 2: Cornell vs. Lake Superior St. note: info came directly to me from Craig Brush, so it's not conjecture. Re: Frozen Four - 10 years ago
Chris '03 BearLover The bottom line is that Cornell has a worse chance of finishing at the top of the league, a worse chance of winning the ECAC, and a worse chance of qualifying for the NCAA's than it did ten years ago, and the biggest reason is the better competition. I'm not sure that's entirely true. The increased strength of the ECAC overall has increased the margin of error for an ECAby Josh '99 - Hockey

Re: Frozen Four - 10 years ago
billhoward ftyuv Honest question here. I didn't get to watch the game, but 7-4 doesn't sound like a game in which either team played a tight, efficient, all-around game worthy of the ages; it sounds like my beer league. So what gives? What gives? Incredible energy and some amazing shots deflected at just the right time, or from the same impossible side angle that beat David LeNeveau in Cornell'sby Josh '99 - Hockey

Trotsky Second violation of face off by same team on same faceoff: minor penalty. I wonder if that has ever been called in the history of hockey. With the NCAA and the pros both using the newly-adopted rule (actually I guess it isn't even all that new anymore) not to allow teams a line change before the faceoff following an icing, I've thought on more than one occasion that teams so penalized sby Josh '99 - Hockey

ScrewBUHarvardtoo I've been wondering this question all season. Even if they lost that Game 3 to Clarkson he I'd say he should stay, but he needs to make some changes. I think the issue is now the ECAC is WAY more competitive now than it has ever been. This team is about as good as the one 2 years ago (and they made the regional finals in the NC$$), but the only difference is that year the only tby Josh '99 - Hockey

BearLover Brabant put up mediocre numbers at Q. CAS Cornell basketball had a winning Ivy record for each of Donahue's last 6 years. There is no reason Cornell can't produce a competitive program. Look at the recent success of some of the other Ivies, who certainly haven't had a winning tradition. No, that's true. Re: What is your definition of a Successful Season - 10 years ago
jkahn In retrospect, we had "home ice disadvantage" for the playoffs. Winning 2 of 3 vs. Clarkson added 1.6 wins to our W/L record for RPI purposes and added 1.2 losses. So that series didn't help our RPI. Had we won 2 of 3 on the road, we would have added 2.4 wins and only .8 losses.
