Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: 2/3/12_Cornell_RPI_2-2 tie - 12 years ago
Yes. That is the silver lining I see in each of these games. I appears that we are good enough to skate with just about any team, at least any team in the ECAC. This is quite different from the past few years where we had to play a really great game to keep it close with Yale (or Union last year). But, we are also bad enough to tie just about any team this year. We have to find a way to chanby snert1288 - Hockey
Re: February 3 RPI Game Viewing Locations - 12 years ago
I am actually going to be on Long Island for a few years and wanted to know if you guys had heard of the Cornell Club out here ever getting together to watch these games. I don't think I have NBC Sports, and would prefer to watch with other Cornellians instead of the random friends I hit up with cable. Thanks.by snert1288 - Hockey
Re: Polls - 12 years ago
Is MSG not considered big? It certainly felt much bigger than Lynah.by snert1288 - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Colgate - 12 years ago
This really hurts our record against TUC, and after next week we should have the required 10. Will be interesting to see how things fall from here out.by snert1288 - Hockey
Re: Jeff Foote on Deadspin - 12 years ago
Though not a Cornell alumni, certainly related to Cornell: The Washington Wizards fired coach Flip Saunders today and promoted Randy Whitman as their interim head coach.by snert1288 - Other Sports
Re: Are the games in Florida on Redcast - 12 years ago
When I click "listen" I get directed to an online feed of their local radio station. Hereby snert1288 - Hockey
Re: Are the games in Florida on Redcast - 12 years ago
It is very odd that the links, even for audio, are not listed yet. Worst case scenario I think we can get the UMass radio feed online for free.by snert1288 - Hockey
Re: Consecutive shutout minutes at Lynah? - 12 years ago
I was only watching on Redcast so I couldn't really tell how good Karpowich looked, though from the past I do know he is a first rate goal-tender. It is worrisome though the scoring slump we've been in recently. Not every goalie we face can be having his best night. Karpowich and Milan looked to really be at the top of their game, but SLU and Niagra goalies looked quite average and we only putby snert1288 - Hockey
Re: Other News Around the ECAC - 12 years ago
These games may not be worth "the hype". But, I can't imagine there will even be any hype with Union coming to town. To me it just doesn't make sense.by snert1288 - Hockey
Other News Around the ECAC - 12 years ago
Times Union article about Union playing Harvard at Fenway Park this year. No disrespect to Union, but how can this be a good idea. Union is a small school with a poor history in college hockey (at least at the D-1 level). At home their fan support is good, but I can't imagine they have many alumni in Boston or that their fans will travel. Of course I'm biased but this game would have beenby snert1288 - Hockey
Re: Swearing at Hockey games and Ask Amy - 12 years ago
From a student who stood in A/B from 2008-2011 I'd have to agree. There are still many creative cheers and most are hilarious. Also, the remote control goalie cheers that I've heard do still mimic his motions. From where I was standing people still yell Skate, Turn, Drink, Tab, Stop, and Bend Over. Certainly the end refrain can get dragged out, especially if Cornell is going on the PK or therby snert1288 - Hockey
Re: Polls and Such 11/19 - 12 years ago
If I remember correctly during the 2008-2009 season we did not lose a game until after Thanksgiving when we played North Dakota. After splitting with them I think we had another long winning streak. I believe we were first in the early PWR due to not have any losses and we even received a few 1st place votes in the USCHO poll due to that high ranking.by snert1288 - Hockey
Re: #5 Wrestling v. # 3 Golden Rodents - 12 years ago
Is there any way to watch the Simaz match now? I was switching between the wrestling and hockey last night and would really like to see his domination. Thanks (edit) never mind. i should look a bit harder before i post a question. i found it.by snert1288 - Other Sports
Re: Harvard-Dartmouth aftermath - 12 years ago
Not only that, but our second half Ivy schedule is an exact reflection of our first half in terms of order. Interesting.by snert1288 - Hockey
Re: Harvard-Dartmouth aftermath - 12 years ago
Additionally, we are 3-1 against all Ivy teams played so far. I know it doesn't count for anything real at the end of the season, but we only have 1 more away Ivy game. I'm tired of Yale being the top Ivy for these past few years.by snert1288 - Hockey

Scrivens had a great game tonight against St. Louis and Toronto gets the OT shoot-out win. Scrivens was really the only reason this game went to overtime and was voted player of the game by the St. Louis announcers. Overall, I was incredibly impressed and would keep an eye out for videos of the shoot-out later tonight. Scrivens didn't let any in and also it appears that he has a Cornell stickeby snert1288 - Hockey
Re: cornell 6 - yale 2 - 12 years ago
I fully agree. I just was saying that I am excited by this team, even though I actually enjoyed our old style. Some get bored, but I always thought it was thrilling to be in close low scoring games. The offense this year does look like it will supply those thrills.by snert1288 - Hockey
Re: cornell 6 - yale 2 - 12 years ago
I've only been watching Cornell hockey for a little bit over 3 years now, but if I have learned one thing about Schafer it's that he will get the defense together. Between the returning veterans and talented freshmen (Joakim Ryan I'm looking at you) I have no doubt this team will stop giving up those terrible turnovers in our end. This team is exciting, and I'm one who has never complained abouby snert1288 - Hockey
Re: CU-SU Lacrosse Tonight - 13 years ago
I completely agree with you that the lacrosse game deserved better coverage, however, the Daily Sun did cover the game today on page 16. It was a small article, but it is better than nothing.by snert1288 - Other Sports
Re: Women's Season Stuff - 13 years ago

Re: Harvard 4, Cornell 3, Final - 13 years ago
i too am a current student and completely agree with you! fish before the game=Great, but once the puck drops, the fish stop. there was a nice letter to the editor today in the Daily Sun that I think expressed what many of the true student fans were feeling.by snert1288 - Hockey

Student tickets to Lacrosse games - 14 years ago
I noticed today that the student tickets for the Harvard lacrosse game over the weekend and the Syracuse game next are both $3. Does anyone know if this is just a product of the teams we are playing, or are tickets no longer free even with Big Red Sports Pass?by snert1288 - Other Sports
