Re: Cornell Women's Ice Hockey: 2012 Frozen Four - 12 years ago
The ladies fall to the gophers 3-1, with Minnesota getting an empty net goal with about 30 seconds remaining in the game. Two penalties in the last couple minutes of the game put a significant road block in Cornell efforts to get the equalizer. Unfortunately, Cornell looked to have bus legs for the first period and went down 2-0 on 2 power play goals by Minnesota. We really turned things arby mattj711 - Hockey

Congrats to Laura Fortino and Rebecca Johnston on being named first team all americans, and to Lauriane Rougeau for being named to the second team!!by mattj711 - Hockey
Re: Cornell Women's Ice Hockey: March 2012 - 12 years ago
dag14 Why are you so sure that the women will be in Ithaca next weekend? Has the NCAA announced the venues for the next round? The top 4 seeds host the first round of the NCAAs. Cornell is currently second in the Pairwise Ranking, which is used to select the teams selected to the NCAA tournament.by mattj711 - Hockey

Tom Pasniewski 98 Am I missing something? Is there no video of today's game. Can't get the Redcast link to work. It is working for me. You need to log into red cast. The link isn't active in today's schedule on the cornellbigred.com main page.by mattj711 - Hockey

Good win against a very solid St. Lawrence squad. We looked very strong defensively and offensively for the first period and a half, but seemed to lose steam somewhere in the middle of the second period.by mattj711 - Hockey

Victoria Pittens of the Whitby Junior Wolves/Team Ontario Red can be added to Cornell's recruiting list for next year. She was one of the top scorers for the top ontario team for the canadian u-18 championship. Looks to be a solid addition.by mattj711 - Hockey
Re: Women 2011-12 Main Thread - 12 years ago
Weder Wondering if this Twitter post is a hint about future Big Red players ... I heard that one of the players mentioned has committed to Cornell, and I was hoping the other one was also headed to Cornell. That is definitely a good sign!!by mattj711 - Hockey
Re: Women 2011-12 Main Thread - 12 years ago
Jim Hyla Thomas Larson Makes sense. Didn't expect anything different. Team probably happy with almost a full month off right now. Some time to rest before the rest of the season's not-so-challenging schedule. At the halfway point, only Mercyhurst coming to Ithaca is a tough game the rest of the way. And that's the problem. Agreed. And while Harvard and Dartmouth are good teams, they are notby mattj711 - Hockey

dag14 We looked awful. Wish I had saved my 8 bucks. I 100% agree. That was bad.by mattj711 - Hockey
Re: Women 2011-12 Main Thread - 12 years ago
Mercyhurst is good, but IMHO BU has a deeper roster and more overall talent. If Cornell comes out strong, Cornell should win both games by a couple goals or more.by mattj711 - Hockey
Re: Women 2011-12 Main Thread - 12 years ago
I hope so. With that said, Princeton and Quinnipiac should both be better than most of the competition we faced to date with the exceptions of Dartmouth and Harvard. However, I think it's quite possible that Cornell would have scored 9 goals against both Harvard and Dartmouth with the full team on the ice. The biggest issue against Dartmouth was a fair amount of confusion in Cornell's defensiveby mattj711 - Hockey

I agree with keeping the second line together (Campbell, White, Karpenko). I don't think we'll see cook at center. I think she's more likely to play defense if Paulson is not yet ready to play. I would probably try to get Fulton and Saulnier on the same line.by mattj711 - Hockey
Re: Women vs Syracuse - 12 years ago
jacks9110 Thanks for the updates. This team is putting up some ridiculously great numbers. Is Cook seeing anytime? How about the transfer from Vermont? Haven't seen them on the stats sheets. We'll need them to provide depth and when some of the players are on national duty. Not sure why Barley-Maloney was out the first couple of games but she played tonight. She saw so regular shifts.by mattj711 - Hockey

Kyle Rose mattj711 Which foe? There are many. She is on the roster for the Canadian National Team heading to 4 Nations (as shown a couple posts above), which would be considered THE Canadian National Team, as opposed to the U-22 or U-18 teams. She has also previously played for the U-18 team. Whoosh. That's what happens when I read and type using my phone.by mattj711 - Hockey

Kyle Rose Defensewoman? There is no such thing as a defensewoman. She is a defenseman. Which foe? There are many. Per BTD, Cornell has received a commitment from Anna Zorn for the 2012-2013 season. She is the younger sister of former Cornell captain Liz Zorn, and currently plays for the Ontario Hockey Academy. Previously, she played for the Rochester Edge. She has been selected for various USA Hockey's development camps over the years. It looks like Cornell has three players lined up so far for 2012-201by mattj711 - Hockey

Re: Women next year - 12 years ago
Looks like Cornell has another commitment for 2012-2013. BTD is reporting that Cornell has received a commitment from Kelly Murray of Medicine Hat, Alberta. Kelly plays for the Edge School in Alberta. She also played for Team Alberta last year. Team Alberta took home gold at the 2011-2012 Canada Winter Games. Kelly has also be selected this season for the Team Canada U-18 team selection campby mattj711 - Hockey

Re: Women's Schedule 2011-12 - 12 years ago
Overall, I'm pretty happy with this schedule. I definitely think the non-conforence portion of the schedule is better than last year. Though, it would have been nice to play one of the top WCHA teams. Mercyhurst certainly will be down a bit compared to the last couple of years, but they're returning some very good players and have a very solid freshmen class. I don't see them being in the topby mattj711 - Hockey
Re: Women's Frozen Four Thread - 13 years ago
Unfortunately, Cornell was just completely out of sink. Overall, it was a great season. It's to bad the last game wasn't a much more positive one. The good news is Cornell will be even better next season. It'll be a very long summer...by mattj711 - Hockey

Anyone know how Campbell is doing? Looked like she injured her shoulder while on the PK in the second, and didn't return to the game. Hopefully, she'll be on the ice again soon.by mattj711 - Hockey
