Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Cornell football 2023 - 10 months ago
mike1960 Ken711 George64 I looked at the Athletic Department’s giving page today - with a week left in the fiscal year, football is at 52 percent of its funding goal! Compare that to women’s ice hockey (100%), wrestling (99%), sprint football (155%), rowing (98%) . . . Apparently, people are trying to send a message to AD Moore through their wallets! The Big Red are entering their 10th seasonby marty - Other Sports

dag14 Beeeej dag14 How do you people remember this stuff? I am not sure what I had for breakfast this morning. Well, it helps to have seen the absurdity in person. But once you read Bill's summary from the late, lamented Hockey-L, you'll remember it forever, too. Iceberg I suppose we can start off this thread with today's announcement of Colgate's new head coach. That leaves Schafer as the longest tenured head coach in the conference I think Harder to put the link in?by marty - Hockey

billhowardThe rape accuser, Crystal Magnum, is not doing well either: an arrest in 2010 for attempted murder of a boyfriend, a second arrest for murder of a 2011 boyfriend, now doing 14-18 years, likely release in 2026. Yes, Crystal does seem to be a little worse off than playing as the favorite in the national semi-finals.by marty - Other Sports

dbilmes Al DeFlorio woodpile So much for predictions, though I doubt many could have forseen the throttling that Adler laid on young Coulter. It will be interesting to see what the Princetonian clairvoyants will say should there be a rematch next Sunday. You would have to believe that Adler has taken up residence in the poor kid's head rent-free. Princetonian has yet to print an article on lastby marty - Other Sports

TimV billhoward French Rage shafer Dafatone I just want to hear a few players sing the East Hill Car Wash jingle on whcu. Is that so wrong? THIS Yeah I mean ignoring the actual moral/financial/other-meaningful implications of NIL stuff, I would probably feel a lot different about it if it meant a LOT more college players involved in low-budget local commercials nationwide, rather than just aby marty - Hockey

billhoward I don't get why grad students are not considered students. It would be up to them to determine if they can manage academic workload, practice, and 7-8 road games a year. I never thought that was reasoning.by marty - Other Sports

billhoward Trotsky "He's a bowlegged skater, that increases his balance." Jesus fuck, Barry. As his announcer/color commentator seniority advances, some of Melrose's insights of the play just ended – "that Fantilli is capable of making the big plays" ... Trotsky The start of the 3rd in the M-Q game might be the fastest paced hockey I've ever seen. We were watching it from behind Q's net. It will be nice to watch the video on a big screen.by marty - Hockey

BearLover In my opinion, it is disgraceful that a totally random school no one has ever heard of with zero hockey tradition and zero academic standards went division 1 like 25 years ago and surpassed the Cornell hockey program. It was demoralizing when Yale and Union won, too. Hope you enjoyed a first round draft pick win the OT game and Clay Mouth-man overlook our 1 goal loss. BL, I hope yoby marty - Hockey

LGR14 cu155 Listed as streaming on ESPNNews (not clear to me if this is cable ESPN or works under ESPN+). If ESPN+ then solution would be ESPN+ subscription or Disney+ bundle that includes ESPN+ and Hulu and then using a VPN. If ESPN then solution would be Hulu subscription adding 'Live TV' package to get ESPN unless you have ESPN via a cable provider in the US that allows you to log in aby marty - Hockey
Re: Manchester Roll Call - 1 year ago
HeafDog Going. Need 1 ticket for today, if anyone is selling an extra in or near the CU section. (Which is where, BTW?) Also can offer a ride from northern NJ or pick up along the way. Will trade for a Waiters' Medley. Kidding, I don't have an extra, but my tickets bought by Jim through the Cornell ticket office are Lower Section 119.by marty - Hockey

Will be there with Janice, the best hockey wife in the Northeast, sitting with Jim Hyla. Newspapers and Snickers will be in the arena. LGR! And quoting "The Chief", "Score more goals!". May the hockey gods shine on us tomorrow.by marty - Hockey

ugarte dbilmes Here's a list of ECAC players in Transfer Portal that was posted on Twitter earlier today. Michael Hodge (F, Union) Reid Leibold (F, RPI) James McIsaac (F, RPI) Henri Schreifels (F, RPI) Matthew Hubbarde (F, Dartmouth) Greg Japchen (D, Union) Not a great look for Kathy Hochul But seriously, the lasting legacy of Shirley Jackson.by marty - Hockey

billhoward upprdeck and not for nothing.. Scheduling the finals to go against the Masters and on Easter weekend is also not gonna play well with people traveling or watching on TV for ratings. They would have been better served to add a week to the season and start playoffs a week later. NCAA basketball is designed to end around April 1. NCAA hockey is assigned its finals weekend for the nexby marty - Hockey

Jeff Hopkins '82 kingpin248 With all the games now complete (my previous post with the final Pairwise edited to reflect that), adamw's final bracket projection — CHN has us in Manchester playing DU, with BU-Western Michigan the other matchup in that regional. toddlose Happy for those of you that rooted for Colgate yesterday. SMH. Today in the rink at the start of the 3rd Janice asked me if we root for Sucks. My reply was that I was rooting for BU and Denver. If Cornell was knocked out by Colgate winning do the hockey gods care who rooted for them? David Harding It's certainly true that the band is not allowed to play while the puck is in action, but there is no restriction on vocalizing within limits of decency. But if the band was told to make sure they finish early enough that there is no acapela singing, that just sucks.by marty - Hockey
