Re: Cornell-Clarkson postgame thread (no scores updates) - 19 years ago
CalgAri: You don't remember...you weren't around yet...in 1979, Cornell 6- Providence 5 OT win coming from a 1-5 deficit was probably one of the loudest I've ever heard Lynah. That was when the fans coming onto the ice after the game was born. Also the Harvard game in which a young Mike Schafer broke the stick over his head before the game and then CU came back to win that game. Tonite wasby Larry72 - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs. Clarkson in the Late 60s - 19 years ago
Yes, Clarkson ended the longest Lynah Rink home ice unbeaten streak at 63 home games. It ran from January 14, 1967 through January 29, 1972. I was in at Ithaca High School when it started and a senior at Cornell when it ended. Quite a ride. And that Clarkson game...that was the only home lost in the 1971-72 season. Overall from beginning of the 1965 season through 1974, nine years, Cornellby Larry72 - Hockey

Re: Union/Senior Night Photos - 19 years ago
Hey, I thought they came out GREAT. Really nice feel to them and they absolutely fit the mood of Lynah that evening. Even if you could have pulled off decent color, B/W was a better choice. The shadow detail and the overall sharpness of your images would have been nearly impossible to pull off with B/W films being pushed to ISO 1600. Just wish we had that kind of technology back in the '60sby Larry72 - Hockey
Re: Union/Senior Night Photos - 19 years ago
Age...your b/w photos remind me of the "old days" just a lot less grain!!! Great stuff. BTW, in the pictures of the players with Mike Teeter where you can Mike's right hand (particularly the one where he is about to hug Jeremy Downs), note the rings. If I'm not mistaken, two of them are NCAA championship rings from 1967 and 1970. Pretty special.by Larry72 - Hockey

Re: ESPN - now - Miracle on Ice - 19 years ago
Fun to watch. Thanks for the reminder! Hard to believe it's been 25 years. I was a photographer back then doing Olympic photos. I was sitting about mid-way to the blue line toward where US shooting in 1st and 3rd period about 2/3rds of the way up. Hockey was much more wide-open then. Defense no where near as tight as today. Goalies were standup....Craig looked much like Dryden, just notby Larry72 - Hockey
Re: righty/lefty - 19 years ago
For what it's worth CalgAri'07 is right handed and has always shot left. Even as a little boy in youth hockey, he naturally shot left. I always thought that his shooting left in hockey helped his tennis backhand (he holds a tennis racket in his right hand) which is stronger than his forehand. Now that I've embarrassed him... Re: 2/4: Cornell @ Colgate Postgame - 19 years ago
I asked the goal judge about that play after the game. He said it did happen fast and that he was sure it did NOT go in. When it happened he also looked over at the ref for confirmation.by Larry72 - Hockey
Re: added noise this weekend..... - 19 years ago
Pete: Looking forward to seeing you and your team at Lynah this weekend. Sounds like your kids have one great coach. For some of the younger members on the forum, Pete was one of the best offensive defensemen ever to play for Cornell!!! He still holds a couple of Cornell all-time records for defensemen: Most goals in a game: 4 and Most goals in a career: 48. And he's a member of Corneby Larry72 - Hockey

Re: La Tourelle (OT) - 19 years ago
Both LaTourelle and John Thomas Steak House are VERY nice. The restaurant is pricey (for Ithaca, but not for steak houses) and serves great dry aged beef. The Inn is just that...nice rooms most with nice views. Larryby Larry72 - Hockey

Re: Interesting Review of Hot Truck - 19 years ago
FABULOUS ARTICLE!!! Even though I still live in Ithaca, I've long since had to abandon all things carbs, so it's been many years since I visited the hot truck. However, the hot truck legacy still sticks firmly in my mind from my days as an undergrad and the article got my mouth watering and immediately recalled the language of the truck. Re: BC at Harvard (Sucks) - Tuesday, 11/16 - 19 years ago
Great example of why the games are played on the ice and not by computer. Harvard had a good night. BC did not. If it were the playoffs, the result might have been different.by Larry72 - Hockey
