Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Graduation Day Reflections - 13 years ago
Welcome to the alumni family! I enjoy that you both mentioned Senior Night memories and it reminds me of a Senior Night a few years back when my parents attended and during the Alma Mater circle at the end, with tears streaming down my face, my mother turned to me and said, "I get it now". Though non-Faithful sometimes have a hard time understanding our obsession, at least it's oneby KateWithThe8 - Hockey

Re: Updates - 14 years ago
Apparently Athletics is also concerned about the lack of interest. They've extended the ability to pick up lottery numbers to Monday (for SportsPass holders)...despite the fact that it originally sounded like they were selecting the lottery numbers this weekend: From an email sent this afternoon: "Don't forget to pick-up your Cornell men's ice hockey line number! Re: Pink Uniforms for Late February - 15 years ago
Agreed. Too bad they can't do something bizarre like let the seniors wear their "true" colors (but still sign/auction off their respective pink ones).by KateWithThe8 - Hockey

Re: Alumni in the Pros - April 2008 - 16 years ago
It's because it's what they're all used to calling him on the ice, in the locker room, etc. Everyone's got their 1-2 syllable quick and easy to shout name (many, actually, ending in "ie" or "y". He'd have to break the habit in order for them to not slip calling him "Dougie". Though that does conjure up some pretty funny mental images of guys yelling "Douglas&qby KateWithThe8 - Hockey
Re: Union Roll Call - 16 years ago
Well, Jon and I were in, but now Jon's down with a nasty case of bronchitis and we'll have to miss the trip. As luck would have it, we already had tickets, so check the ticket forum if you're interested in our two 3-day passes and haven't gotten yours yet.by KateWithThe8 - Hockey

Re: So..errr....when are cornell vs. harvard @ bright tickets on sale? - 17 years ago
I just called to get on the list and got a "You're on THAT email group, aren't you?" Yeah, apparently the ticket office doesn't like us all that muchby KateWithThe8 - Hockey
Re: Hockey Phonathon - 18 years ago
As I was looking over the Hockey Newsletter we got in the mail yesterday, I noticed they said the Phonathon would take place yesterday and today. So, if you didn't get a call last night, you can probably look for one today.by KateWithThe8 - Hockey

Re: Jerseys? - 18 years ago
My Vesce jersey complete with the sigs of the entire class of 2003 can finally be retired as I now have a shiny "new" Pegs jersey. I guess it's appropriate considering my old and current log-in Jon and I will certainly enjoy the Christmas/Hanukkah gifts we just bought each otherby KateWithThe8 - Hockey
Re: What I like about being a Big Red fan - 18 years ago
I'm not even sure where to begin because like everyone else, there are just too many to mention. One that sticks out in my mind is from Senior Night of 2003. I had gotten my parents tickets to the game and they joined Jon and I in Section A. They had a great time and I got the feeling that they might now understand the beauty of being Lynah Faithful. My mother assured me of this when afby KateWithThe8 - Hockey

"Kevan Melrose Award, Least Respected Opponent. This award goes to the guys who, when you scream "Sucks!" you really mean it. The bad and the ugly. The goon, the cheap shot artist, the whiner, the showboat. The asshole. " No question: Noah Welch. I think the middle fingers to the crowd and numerous cheap shots speak for themselves. Re: Hobey Finalists... - 19 years ago
I'm sure someone will have posted this by the time I finish mine, but... "The Hobey Baker Foundation is proud to announce the ten finalists for the 2005 Hobey Baker Memorial Award: Reid Cashman, Quinnipiac; Patrick Eaves, Boston College; Dov Grumet-Morris, Harvard; T.J. Re: Save $$$ on Albany Hotels - 19 years ago
We stayed at this EconoLodge Downtown (Rensselaer) in 2003 and it was a very decent place for the price. Even the free continental breakfast wasn't that bad. And it's a quick drive to parking near the arena.by KateWithThe8 - Hockey
Re: USCHO Recap - 19 years ago
I haven't seen it mentioned directly here yet, so in case people missed it, I thought it is pretty awesome that Downs was able to break a record Saturday night: (from the USCHO recap) "Cornell senior defenseman Jeremy Downs played in his 134th consecutive game Saturday night, setting a new school record. Next Friday in Albany, he will break Stephen Bâby's school record for total gaby KateWithThe8 - Hockey

Re: A great bear from the past - 19 years ago
I'm still questioning my sanity when I decided to invite my parents to the last game in 2003. Not sure my mother wanted that mental image of Jon She was certainly as worried as I was when we saw his feet all tied up though! A quick search finds this article about the story on ESPN: Looks like the gold medal game against Finland is being aired tomorrow night at 8pm on ESPNC. Alas, I don't see any more showings of the game against the Soviets.by KateWithThe8 - Hockey
Re: Last Home Weekend Rollcall - 19 years ago
Jon and I will be up this weekend. Unfortunately, me having a (6 person; no hiding the fact that you're not there) class until 1pm Friday means we won't make it up in time for RPI (though we'll sneak in for the last of it if we can). We'll be feeling the love in Section O Saturday night. Looking forward to seeing everyone! Let's Go Red!by KateWithThe8 - Hockey

Re: Cornell vs. Clarkson in DC - 19 years ago
Since the game is being broadcasted on CSTV, the actual start time is 8pm. See also the discussion in the NYC watch party thread: "So I just spoke to the Cornell athletics office and they've confirmed 8:00 " Anyway, a bunch of us will be there, so Let's Go Red!by KateWithThe8 - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs. Clarkson in DC - 19 years ago
Jon and I, and possibly a few other Lynah Faithful in the area are planning on making the Princeton trip. That'll be great if something for the Clarkson game gets set up. The gathering for the Lynah East game last year was lots of fun.by KateWithThe8 - Hockey
