Re: Cornell 3 Michigan 2 post game - 12 years ago
RichH Trotsky Amazing game; one for the ages. And the final 5 minutes of the 2nd should go down in history in particular. Surviving a 5 minute major, getting a temporary reprieve on the minor, a missed penalty shot, a 5x3 SH situation? And nothing happens to the score? Epic, gut-wrenching roller-coaster of a window. That 5x3 kill was awesome. So good positionally it never felt like we wereby BCrespi - Hockey
Re: $99 Marriott rooms in Newark - 13 years ago
Josh '99 jtwcornell91 Josh '99 mha Two Newark-area Marriott properties are offering a surprisingly good $99/night deal for Thanksgiving weekend...Of course they are, because who the hell goes to Newark over Thanksgiving weekend? (Besides us, I mean.) It should be noted that neither of these hotels are particularly close to the Prudential Center; they're both by the airport, as Mark says, whicby BCrespi - Hockey
Re: Now that our season is over... - 14 years ago
Jim Hyla billhoward Bill Gates when he was younger blew off questions about his philanthropy by saying he would get to that in a much bigger way later. But the man kept his promise. Nothing wrong with working hard, making money, and then easing out early to do good works. You can certainly argue about whether it was worth all the money it cost, but at least Gates produced something of value, andby BCrespi - Other Sports
Re: Harvard 0 at Cornell 3 Game 2 Postgame - 14 years ago
dbilmes Great quote by Scrivens in Monday's Ithaca Journal: "I'm going to be able to call these guys up in 20 years and say 'Hey remember that last game we played at home and how crazy the fans were?' We're not going to remember the score. We're not going to remember who scored, but we're going to remember the rink and the fans and the atmosphere which is what it's all about, I think.&quoby BCrespi - Hockey
Re: Postgame - 14 years ago
tretiak How many times this season have we let an opponent score within a minute of our taking the lead? Maybe the team just loses focus or something, but thankfully that quick goal to make it 1-1 didn't matter in the end. that's a problem for all teams, unless the goal is a back-breaker. remember the bu game when cornell answered the first bu goal about a minute after? the team that is scoreby BCrespi - Hockey
Re: "The boisterous Lynah Faithful are college hockey's answer to Duke's Cameron Crazies" - 14 years ago
RichH Unfortunately, Lynah was left out of the accompanying photo essay. 10 photos, but two of Matthews. Also, I've never seen the PU band at Baker Rink, and now I know that that new freak running around Ingalls is called "Captain Freedom." Sitting next to them at "The Hobe" last year was enough to make us run down into the lower-level seats between periods. I rememberby BCrespi - Hockey
Re: Boothe NYTimes Article - 14 years ago
TimV The Giants started William Beatty. a rookie from UConn at Right Tackle for McKenzie and Boothe commonly the first O-Line off the bench wasn't in until Seubert's injury. The UConn guy did very well, and I was worried about Kevin's future with NY, but when Seubert went down Kevin came in and did a great job. O'Hara and McKenzie are getting old, and Seubert, also older has had quite a few injby BCrespi - Other Sports

Re: Cornell Basketball - ECAC Holiday Classic - 14 years ago
dbilmes We were lucky to win this game. We needed Davidson to choke on foul shots at the end of regulation and at the end of OT, which it did. And we needed a basket at the buzzer in regulation to send the game into OT, and a basket at the buzzer in OT to win the game after Dale, who got us into OT and carried us in the first part of OT, blew two FTs which would have given us a three-point lead.by BCrespi - Other Sports
Re: Cornell Basketball - ECAC Holiday Classic - 14 years ago
Swampy phillysportsfan Well we got St Johns who went on a 13-1 run to win the game 72-60 I'm assuming the consolation game is at 7, with the championship after that. Can someone confirm? Yes, I can confirm. Figure 9:15-9:30 or so for the start.by BCrespi - Other Sports

Re: Cornell Basketball - ECAC Holiday Classic - 14 years ago
Good news everybody. On a hunch, I checked the Garden website and there are tickets available, including those in the 300s, for $15. Of course there is a gross $4.14 service charge, but way better than $50+. Have at it. Scroll down to 12/20, the MSG Holiday Festival, click "Get Tickets" and you can specify the day you'd like. Then you can specify by price on the individualby BCrespi - Other Sports

Re: Cornell-BU @ MSG postgame - 14 years ago
I must say that I had an initial negative (I think that word is even too strong) reaction to the post. It was not that I didn't want to read it, but was just expecting more Cornell-BU analysis and had a "who cares?" reaction when I saw the contents. I would have been happy to see this post as its own topic in the Cornell Mens Hockey forum or Other Sports and simply was surprised thatby BCrespi - Hockey
Re: Sleeping Bear? - 14 years ago
tretiak They were inappropriate for the venue: too syrupy. It's a hockey game, which means more ass-kicking and less glee club. Amen. I can understand mixing in other parts of Cornell with hockey clips, but did they not try to find hockey clips? Off the top of my head I can think of several clips of the last few years that should've been shown - Sam Paolini's OT goal to win the 2003 ECAC, McRby BCrespi - Hockey

mnagowski I wrote about this a little while back when Tom's story was featured in the New Yorker: The big concern with football -- other than whether or not we will ever win an outright Ivy title again -- is just how violent of a sport it is -- and how dangerous it can be for a player's long-term health. Re: Cornell 4 - 0 Princeton; 2nd Period - 14 years ago
mnagowski I guess this TV broadcast was essentially eating up all the bandwidth coming out of athletics and knocked out everything including the media wireless in Newman. This would make sense, given that SportsNet New York didn't show the basketball game as they advertised. When I tuned in I saw a five-second still of Louis Dale, followed by a black screen, followed by an infomercial. SNY woby BCrespi - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - November 2009 - 14 years ago
NHL.com Moulson said he considers himself more a worker than a goal scorer, saying all those days of shooting pucks at goaltenders taught him one thing. "I learned I need to score all my goals from the blue paint in," he said. "My best attribute is probably just getting to those areas where you can score." Beeeej CowbellGuy If you mouseover a thread (or reply in threaded view) subject, you'll get a popup with a preview of the message contents. In addition, you can control-rightclick to mark the message read or shift-control-rightclick to mark the thread read. There's a tooltip, so you don't actually have to remember that. Re: ELynah Forum Update - 14 years ago
CowbellGuy Someone else was bugging me about that. Would you actually not read a thread based on the number of new messages in it? I can see the value in it, at any rate. I'll take a look at it next week. This is the main thing still left for me, as well. While I might not actually not read a thread ultimately, I may put it off for a time I have more time to read. jtwcornell91BCrespiThat C at center ice is fucking UGLY. Really? I like it. It's got that classic college look. Yeah, and I usually love older-school versions of Cornell symbols, etc. This one just seems particularly poorly done to me.by BCrespi - Hockey

munchkinDeltaOne81So the whole process is basically on a 10 year rotation? Which puts us 5 years from the next stampede, right? I did well in the stampede as a freshman: #123. Got me into section B, where I didn't get to again until senior year with pick #51 (line number was #1 both for senior and overall undergrads). Re: Interview with Milo - 14 years ago
KeithKbillhowardIgnoring for a nanosecond the alleged friction between Milo and the Cornell hockey team ... he is one amazingly unique student-athlete. He's hardly unique. Certainly very talented and IMO should be lauded for stcking with two sports and performing at a high level. These days there's too much pressure for kids to pick one sport and specialize early.
