Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Wrestling 2024 Postseason - 5 weeks ago
Great end result for the team. I follow the season, but appreciate having the summaries and insight here, thanks ugarte!by Bahnstorm - Other Sports
Re: Cornell football 2023 - 5 months ago
rss77 I have been big backer of Dave Archer over the years. He bleeds red and white and has been in his "dream job" for 10 years. 30 seniors still being on the team speaks positive that the guys like being in the program. Unfortunately I think it's time to move on. I raise the question of whether football success is possible at Cornell given current conditions. +1. Well said.by Bahnstorm - Other Sports

Chris '03 arugula Perfect ending. Don’t step out of bounds and stop the clock. So dumb. The timeout after the lengthy review was really something too. Both of these, SMH.by Bahnstorm - Other Sports
Re: New ticket plans - 1 year ago
Pre scoreboard watching a game from the center of the balcony wasn't a bad spot for a few games a year. You could really get in a goalie's ear and hear the action on the ice. Post scoreboard that view was lost, couldn't see down over the scoreboard. I'll be curious to see how they will make this work in terms of seeing the west end goal from the premium seats or if fans up there will just rely onby Bahnstorm - Hockey

Some of you probably already watched this when it came out, but he did a nice interview about his career back in 2021,by Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: Hanover Schützenfest: Cornell at Dartmouth - 1 year ago
This makes more sense now that time shifting video is easily available, but before that if you wanted to read the story you had to pick up the book, you just didn't want to be forced to start on the last page if you wanted a little suspense. chimpfood I mean it’s a forum for Cornell hockey discussion. You should probably stay away if you don’t want to know the scoreby Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: Hanover Schützenfest: Cornell at Dartmouth - 1 year ago
These comments gave me eLynah nostalgia as there was some animated back and forth discussion about posting game scores in the title 16 years ago (see this thread) back when people were still using VCRs and getting a decent online stream was a bit more of challenge, still, as they say, it was a simpler time. Back then if you couldn't follow the game in real time and wanted to relive it as it unfolby Bahnstorm - Hockey

Nice to see the Cornell jersey right behind the Denver bench in the stands whenever they show the coach.by Bahnstorm - Hockey

Re: A new low for Lynah Rink - 4 years ago
A week ago or so Cass park got hit and all the cash in both locker rooms was taken from the beer leaguers while we were on the ice. They even took keys and stole stuff out of locked cars in the lot. Hockey rink bandit. Would be interesting to have them caught in the act by a team before turning them over to the law.by Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: Nipissing - 4 years ago
That new scoreboard seems impressive, but I wonder if it is going to make it through the season in its current iteration, another big crack looks to have appeared after the deflection bounced off it in the third adding to the preseason damage.by Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: Cornell Football 2019 - 4 years ago
Anyone else notice that games will no longer be broadcast over the air or online with WHCU? WHCU is currently running a notice stating that despite having had the games for a decade or so they are no longer able to air them because of the ESPN contract. I wonder if this will impact hockey as well. I doubt the remaining local football supporters who rely on the radio broadcast are going to be runnby Bahnstorm - Other Sports

Seems an appropriate time to remind folks what happened when Touchdown met a husky in 1915. "At the Cornell vs. Pennsylvania game of 1915, Touchdown was led out on the football field to meet the Penn mascot of the day, a large Husky. Just after this photo was taken, Touchdown raised his paw and smacked the other animal hard enough to send it tumbling to the ground."by Bahnstorm - Hockey

upprdeck its been a big hassle for me since i often have others use my tickets and have to locate someone a 2nd time to get my pass back. I know many who dont like it because they save stubs of games and this is now not possible anymore. I put mine on a lanyard so they wouldnt get lost as easily, i have no room in my wallet for another card i only use every week or so. The new system has mby Bahnstorm - Hockey

It is possible some items will get included in this project: We did some as part of this project: The guide has been updated to reflect the more recently digitized films. As we clear rights the digitized films will eventually be uploaded here:by Bahnstorm - Hockey

It would also help if they didn't start playing as soon as Arthur starts to tell us information about the review, both before and after, drowning him out.by Bahnstorm - Hockey

Trotsky Jeff Hopkins '82 The one in '79 would have been for Mrs. Jolly Green Giant. It also had "Harvard Sucks" painted on the side of it.Somehow I do not have the photo of it. I consider this a tremendous oversight on TBRW. Half way down the page, click it to enlarge:by Bahnstorm - Hockey

Re: Women's Team 2017-18 - 6 years ago
I'm not sure where this sits historically stat wise for Cornell (I know it isn't close to the NCAA women's record), but by my count Boissonnault just completed an approximately 270 minute long shutout streak. Nice.by Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: Polls 2017-18 - 6 years ago
Yes with an active netid you can get things like the Globe going way back through things like the library's subscription to the Proquest Historical Newspapers collection. Some services require a student or faculty netid and alumni aren't covered, but many services are covered for alumni netids too: Pick any major newspaper and search the Cornell library catalog, taking into account changesby Bahnstorm - Hockey

Trotsky Are we late again tonight? Nothing on ILDN and herpa-derp on WHCU. No broadcast since it is on ESPN 3.by Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: Cornell 5 vs. Union 3 2/3/17 - 7 years ago
scoop85 I finally got to see the embellishment call on Weidner; WTF was that call? That about an all-time worst. I don't know if that particular play warrented a call, but he has deserved that call in several of our last games. I suspect the refs saw something earlier and were watching for it. Not behavior you like to see from a wearer of the C.by Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: Quinnipiac on ESPN3 - 7 years ago
It is particularly timely given that the cover story of the current Alumni Magazine issue is on the faithful and it specifically mentions Swanee as being a traditional fan cheer.by Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: Quinnipiac on ESPN3 - 7 years ago
andyw2100 I hear that the Tuba song changed because the old song--"Swanee River"--was objectionable, and less than politically correct. Oh FFS, let's be offended about a song while we yell at people to die and drop dead, what a joke. The new song sucks. That's an idiotic reason not to play Swanee. They seem to have no trouble with Gary Glitter, did they ever think maybe that is offensby Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: ILDN - 7 years ago
I'm not sure of the order of operations here, but the terrestrial radio WHCU broadcast had the same audio issues both nights. I don't know if ILDN is relying on WHCU's feed or the otherway around or if they both are relying on failing/inferior equipment in Lynah. I'd be curious to know how that works as that would help in directing the comments. Either way it is a bit embarrassing and hopefully wby Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: First round vs Union - 8 years ago
andyw2100 upprdeck why dont they have a system that explains the calls? how hard to add a statement, the whistle blew, man in the crease, contact with the goalie? the NFL finally figured that out years ago The announcement Arthur made at the time the play was to be reviewed was particularly odd, I'm guessing based on what the refs instructed him to announce. Normally the announcement would bby Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: Recorded Music at Lynah During Merrimack Games - 8 years ago
There were some IHS band kids there who wished their band had been asked to fill in. They'd been to enough games to even know some of the right tunes. That would've been an easy call to make for either someone at Lynah or with the CU band. That could have been fun and made a nice town/gown gesture. Also + 1 for bringing the cowbell Saturday.by Bahnstorm - Hockey
