Re: TBRW Awards 2024 - 4 weeks ago
ugarte Trotsky I think there was confusion about the Gage Award, given all the Kempf nominations. It is given to a player who flies under the radar, receives few accolades, and/or plays a particular role well. Kempf is as some of you noted the primary stay at home D on a team built out from goal -- the opposite of a supporting player. My choices for Gage were Devlin and Stanley and honestlby ice - Hockey

Cornell played a great game. Some questionable refereeing during periods 2 and 3. Get em next year.by ice - Hockey

chimpfood BearLover Larry72 chimpfood Man we’ve got a real winnable game up next too. Denver didn’t look good against UMass, will be gassed from double OT, and we beat them last year. Let’s get Schafer his frozen four that he deserves. Remember that Denver is playing essentially at sea level instead of 5000"+, they have a day off, and they all are in great shape (as is Cornell)! Re: What happened to PWR this year? - 6 weeks ago
There are 4 remaining games with a combined number of 16 possible outcomes (2^4). Four of the winning combinations will move Cornell to #12. The remaining twelve will leave Cornell at #13. The following combinations of wins will move Cornell to #12 in the PWR: AI, BU, MS, D RIT, BU, MS, D AI, BC, MS, D RIT, BC, MS, D So wins by Michigan State and Denver are essential. munchkin They need to win, baby girl will be born tomorrow since she won’t make her appearance before midnight. I may have made my husband watch the semi-final game since laboring mom gets to choose the channel. Congratulations! Best wishes for you and your baby.by ice - Hockey

Huge effort by the Big Red. Couldn't really ask for more. Benson played a great game. Thank you seniors. Thank you also to the 5-ers for your perseverance through the coronavirus trouble. Best of luck for your futures.by ice - Hockey

Re: Cornell @ Quinnipiac Fri 2/25/22 - 2 years ago
Q is not the Q of a few years ago. It used to be that they buzzed around a lot and took 60+ wild shots per game. This year's team has some heavy hitters. They also have some cheaters. During the second period, a Big Red player lost his stick while he was in the Cornell defensive zone. A Q player cleared the stick away into center ice to make it hard for the Cornell player to retrieve it. Abby ice - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Quinnipiac Fri 2/25/22 - 2 years ago
Shane played his best game of the season with a shutout on 42 shots. He seems to have adjusted his game and isn't moving out of the crease as much to challenge potential shooters. I think that helped him a lot tonight. It seemed that Q was trying to harass Shane after he had made about 20 stops. At one point in the second period, Bongiovanni needlessly skated right through the crease, beby ice - Hockey

Re: CCT @ Cornell, 2/19/22 - 2 years ago
Trotsky arugula Anything on andreev? Concussion Friday I assume? Didn’t hear anything. In the pregame Mike said he was a healthy scratch for A Very Special Lesson. Andreev didn't play well against SLU. He looked slow. The first power play unit looked much better with Malinski at the top rather than Andreev. That said, everyone has their off nights and I hope Andreev comes backby ice - Hockey
Re: St. Lawrence at Cornell, 2/18/22 - 2 years ago
ugarte What's maddening is that SLU didn't seem to have a possession advantage. They just shot the *** puck at the net SLU won on hustle, faster transitions and lack of fear.by ice - Hockey

Swampy osorojo I attended my first Cornell Men's Varsity hockey game over 60 years ago - still follow and still hope . . . I can't remember a single C.U.M.V.H team which evinced such wildly different efforts and results as this year's team. Have you? Isn't being erratic a common characteristic of a young team? The 1979-1980 season was very up and down and the team ended up at the FF.by ice - Hockey
