This club team has some real talent. Mike Stachurski is on it, as well as several other former DI players. Mike was on last year's varsity squad for about half the season.by dodger916 - Hockey

Re: Ticket Line - 19 years ago
Athletics said they would release information through 3 channels: Big Red Bulletin, Web site and radio. This was confirmed this evening. I doubt athletics would tell the Sun in advance. It makes no sense. Why would they risk being criticized by students for showing preference?? What would they gain?? And if someone on staff said athletics told them, I'd be suspicious.... Re: Season Tickets - 19 years ago
The student ticket sale will take place during the weekend of Oct 2. Line numbers will be issued to students immediately upon arrival in the line. The line will begin when the first student shows up. Once a student receives a line number, they must be present at all line number checks through Oct 2. Athletics will be performing line checks during the hours of 10pm and 6am every night, and froby dodger916 - Hockey

It also has to do with the ECAC championship schedule and the CU Academic Calendar. According to the CU calendar, spring break begins 3/19, while the second round of the playoffs is March 11-13. So unlike previous years, spring break and playoffs don't clash, more students will be able to attend, and pre-sale makes it easier for everyone. Re: Cornell uniforms - 20 years ago
I've worn these Cornell pants myself. The inseam of the pant leg is actually zippered with black zippers. Most (if not all) players keep the inseam unzipped for mobility, as suggested by canucksfan. Of course, this does not preclude the possibility that they are also ripped!by dodger916 - Hockey

Right on, big red apple. The folks in athletics are working stiffs, just like us. They don't sit around thinking of ways to screw the alums, as many posts suggest. Re: Links to free audio broadcasts by Cornell's opponents - 21 years ago
OCSN might be able to control it, if it's contractual. This pertains to internet "broadcasting", the rights to which is something OCSN could certainly have an interest in. Plus which, this way the end consumer would pay for the service directly. John: Have you seen any OCSN contract for Athletics?by dodger916 - Hockey
Re: Links to free audio broadcasts by Cornell's opponents - 21 years ago
I think I found out why, and it's not BS. I'm not exceptionally well-versed in internet lingo, but here goes. Athletics changed its web site provider (last year?) when its former provider (Total Sports?) went belly-up. The agreement with the new provider (OCSN) gave them the rights to the internet broadcasts, and hence the ability to charge. It also suggests that Athletics does not benefit diby dodger916 - Hockey

I can see where it might appear that I'm a shill. I'm trying to be factual and objective, recognizing that until we've walked in someone's shoes, "uneducated" judgments tend to detract form the quality of the conversation. Re: Ticket Line "disassembles" - 21 years ago
It's true there was cutting. However, accoding to ticket office officials, when students came forward to complain, the line cutters were promptly expelled. I think I heard about a dozen such line cutters were ousted much to the satisfaction of the ones who played fairly. The line number process is over (about 20 minutes early), and most everyone has already paid. So far, so good......by dodger916 - Hockey

I just received a call from somebody waiting. An Ithaca a capella group, the "Sons of Pitches", is performing in the Ramin Room. Evidently, the t-shirts are pretty nice too. Re: Ticket Line "disassembles" - 21 years ago
I was there yesterday (Friday) at 3:30 and everything went very well. CU Police ensured that students entered the line in an orderly fashion. I heard mostly compliments from students who expressed satisfaction that things were going smoothly. Re: Ticket Line "disassembles" - 21 years ago
Probably because that would extend the process another day. Students would still be lining up Friday or Thursday, and the university would feel obliged to protect them from weather, themselves, etc.. Students lining up at 5pm tonight will need to wait until line number assignments at 1pm Saturday - that's 20 hours. Re: Ticket Line "disassembles" - 21 years ago
Despite posted signs indicating lines will be dispersed, students lined-up overnight only to be sent home this morning. The administration can not condone a process that encourages student to cut classesl, so they can't provide any supervision for the line. And those that have no school will have an unfair advantage over students who do not. The students understood the reasoning and dispersedby dodger916 - Hockey
