Re: Men's Lax Tournament 2024 - 2 days ago
upprdeck I think we Need Penn to win sundayto have a shot at getting in now. Agreed. Only results that seem to matter now are Michigan/PSU (if Michigan wins, that might be a wrap) and Penn/Princeton (root for Penn)by semsox - Other Sports

I'm really not ready for this season to end. Even if we can't come back, I will be very upset if we're left outby semsox - Other Sports
Re: Men's Lax Tournament 2024 - 2 days ago
We need more of those types of goals. Carrol is a good goalie, but he's not a literal wall. Just take shotsby semsox - Other Sports

Trotsky Why did we have to surrender the ball after that takeaway? They called a hold on Follows (45) I believe.by semsox - Other Sports
Re: Men's Lax Tournament 2024 - 2 days ago
Trotsky This pace is not sustainable. For Pennby semsox - Other Sports
Re: Men's Lax Tournament 2024 - 3 days ago
The Denver loss is definitely bad, but the Michigan one only matters if they end up winning. They're still outside even with the new W vs. Hopkinsby semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2024 - polls 4/22 - 13 days ago
Those are the preseason USILA rankings, which unfortunately seems what the Inside Lacrosse rankings page defaults to. Actual USILA rankings as of 4/22: 2024 DIVISION I - WEEK 12 (APRIL 22) Team (First-Place Votes) Rank Record Points Notre Dame (18) 1 9-1 379 Duke (1) 2 11-3 361 Johns Hopkins 3 10-3 337 Syracuse 4 11-4 319 Denver 5 10-2 299 Virginia 6 10-3 285 Maryland 7 8-3 254 Yaleby semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2024 - polls 4/15 week 10 - 16 days ago
Huge game tomorrow. I personally think a W tomorrow solidifies our at-large profile (no 'bad' losses) so that even with an L in the ILT Semis we might sneak in. This of course assumes we take care of business @Dartmouth.by semsox - Other Sports
Re: Men's lax: CU-Notre Dame Sunday 4/14/24 - 21 days ago
Thought we were the better team (not by much, but better), Seems we've had really awful 'puck luck' this year.by semsox - Other Sports
Re: MBB: Jon Jaques - 30 days ago
Also really like this. I feel Jaques' own, somewhat unique, career progression/path (being a reserve for 3 years getting limited minutes followed by being an integral starter on the Sweet 16 team) will be fruitful in being able to recruit/develop/connect with players. Also hopefully means he's here for a long haul.by semsox - Other Sports

Not allowed to lose two 2OT games in a row. Phewby semsox - Other Sports

mike1960 I miss Barry. +1. Someone on Lax Forum mentioned that he may be having some health issues, as he didn't call any Basketball games either. Get well Barry!by semsox - Other Sports
Re: Men's Lax Syracuse at Cornell 4/2/2024 - reset needed - 4 weeks ago
That possession is what I'd like to see more of from this team. At the Penn game, Penn packed in their defense, and the way to bust that is to bomb from outside. Love seeing Long shoot from long rangeby semsox - Other Sports

This 29 to 28 W is going to go down in history...by semsox - Other Sports
Re: Men's Lax Syracuse at Cornell 4/2/2024 - 4 weeks ago
Difficult to believe how bad the defense is. I think the individual close D players are talented enough, I believe in Tully in the long term, and for as much as we lack depth at SSDM, they are only 2 players of the 7 players on that end. There needs to be some sort of overhaul, whether schematically or something else, because what they're currently doing is not going to lead to winning lacrosse.by semsox - Other Sports
Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 5 weeks ago
I thought we acquitted ourselves well, but from my view in the stands, it certainly felt like Denver was the better and faster team. Their forecheck was awesome, and it seemed we never had any time or space. I'd be curious what the possession numbers looked like for the game. Good season though, and looking forward to the future. Additional vent: the parking situation with the arena was awful.by semsox - Hockey
Re: Wrestling 2024 Postseason - 6 weeks ago
Thanks for the recaps ugarte! As a non-wrestling expert who only tunes in for the NCAA's, I'm glad you were just as confounded by Foca's first match. I was watching live, glanced away for one of the basketball games, and when I checked in again, he was shaking hands. I rewound and was just as confused as to how it all happened. Pretty disappointing. Also regarding the Cardenas match, but maybeby semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell vs Ohio State NIT game - Preview - 6 weeks ago
ugarte hell of a season from the most fun team to watch since 2010 by a large margin. Hear hear!by semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell vs Ohio State NIT game - Preview - 6 weeks ago
mike1960 semsox Officiating has not been kind, but we are showing alot of fight Ya can't get in another player's face in college. They'll call that every time. Somehow I doubt the same play made by OSU is resulting in that same call. My comment also wasn't meant to be limited to that play, as OSU has rightfully been playing us very physical given their size/athleticism advantage all game, andby semsox - Other Sports

dbilmes Any word on why Chris Manon isn't playing? Before tip they just described it as a foot injury suffered during the Yale gameby semsox - Other Sports

Just one of those games. Hopefully they're ready for next weekend, a tough Ivy opener @Princetonby semsox - Other Sports

PSU goalie truly out of his mind. I haven't seen anything like this in awhile. We should probably have at least 5 goalsby semsox - Other Sports
Re: MLAX: Cornell vs Penn State 3/9/24 - 8 weeks ago
Great save by Tully, but then how in the world is that not a push against Box?by semsox - Other Sports
Re: MLAX: Cornell vs Penn State 3/9/24 - 8 weeks ago
Maybe I take it back after that last PSU save. Firth with no one between him and the keeper from like 8 yards out, stoned by PSU goalie.by semsox - Other Sports
Re: MLAX: Cornell vs Penn State 3/9/24 - 8 weeks ago
While they've contributed, the shots PSU is taking seem much cleaner in terms of lanes and space. Everything looking tough for our offense.by semsox - Other Sports
Re: MLAX: Cornell vs Penn State 3/9/24 - 8 weeks ago
Actually, Tully is in now, though the commenters have not mentioned it.by semsox - Other Sports
Re: MLAX: Cornell vs Penn State 3/9/24 - 8 weeks ago
Something needs to be done about the EMO unit. Has been a consistent weak point all year. Also, I'd like to see Tully get some time in netby semsox - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2024 - Tewaaraton Award - 8 weeks ago
billhoward Now that Cornell's extraordinary defender Gavin Adler '23 is gone from the Cornell team, Inside Lacrosse ponders Men's Tewaaraton Watch: Should a Defender Get Serious Consideration? I had a viscerally negative reaction to the question when I saw the article earlier this afternoon, however, after taking a second, it is an interesting thought experiment. Re: Ohio State @ Cornell - 8 weeks ago
CU77 Are you sure semsox? I think a lot of the Big Ten games are on BTN only, not B1G+. That's a fair point CU77, and unfortunately the landscape for this is changing every year. I'm not sure how common airing on BTN is vs. going to BTN+. As an example, for this weekend, all of Cornell @ PSU, Brown @ MD, ND @ OSU (Sat games), and Princeton @ Rutgers, Harvard @ Michigan (Sun games) are availableby semsox - Other Sports
