Re: CU Hockey-Preseason - 12 years ago
Not sure where else to put this. . . I was reading this weeks Sports Illustrated (Nov. 7 issue) and there's a big collage of college athletes that goes with a feature on the feasibility of paying D1 players. Anyway, the collage features a CU hockey player; I think it's Vince Mihalek.by fatchance72 - Hockey

Re: NCAA basketball reflections (non-Cornell) - 14 years ago
phillysportsfan Well I guess enjoy this tournament for what it is because next year they are going to screw it up by going to 96 teams I know that a lot of people are stuck in their ways, and like the tournament just fine the way it is, but I can think of a whole lot of things worse than more March Madness. 9-16 seeds never win anyway, so its not like expansion is ruining the tourney froby fatchance72 - Other Sports

Trotsky I'm sorry if this was covered in a link but, what's Brendon's plan? Does he stay in Ithaca until he graduates, or is he already off to Copps Coliseum? I saw him on campus today.by fatchance72 - Hockey

Re: Which jersey would you rather wear? - 14 years ago
What year are you? I ask because when I bought my jersey, I made sure to pick a 2010 graduate, like me. Now that I remember, for me it was between #27 (Gallagher) and #24 (BNash). #15 (Greening) was already taken. I went with the red #27.by fatchance72 - Hockey
Re: Odds that Donahue stays? - 14 years ago
I was wondering when someone would start this thread. . . I think he's gone. The title asked for odds. . . I'd say %70 chance he walks for a low-end Big10 (Penn St?) or BigEast (St. Johns? Rutgers?) school. I agree that he'd like to go back to Philly, but he's not going to be able to, IMO, if he wants to try his hand at the best place available.by fatchance72 - Other Sports
Re: Red-White Scrimmage - Saturday, 10/17 @ 7pm - 14 years ago
During the second half of last year, Schafer used 4 forwards and 1 defenseman on the 1st PP line. It was Gallagher, RNash, Greening, Barlow/MKennedy and BNash. Is there any reason to think he won't use just 1 dman on the 1st PP line? Assuming he does, I think the most likely line will be Gallagher, RNash, Greening, BNash and Jillson/JDevin/PKennedy. I don't think Whitney has a chance tby fatchance72 - Hockey
Re: Red-White Scrimmage - Saturday, 10/17 @ 7pm - 14 years ago
Birch and D’Agostino played well. They’re both pretty quick for big guys. Based on one scrimmage, they seem very comfortable with the puck and were able to break out of the defensive zone easily. In my mind, I kept comparing them to someone like Berk or freshmen M. Devin or Taylor Davenport. Berk and Devin and Davenport were very robotic and unsure with the puck, and it seemed that the lack oby fatchance72 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the pros - July 2009 - 14 years ago
Nice article on Riley. "We don’t want to turn him pro when he’s not ready to turn pro,” Prendergast emphasizes. “We’ll have our prospect camp in July and we’ll have a pretty good idea of where he is at that point. If we feel he’s getting stronger, that’s great and we’ll think about it at the end of next hockey season, and if not, then we’ll wait the four years.” Um, so is that thby fatchance72 - Hockey

Re: New Recruit for '10 - Kirill Gotovets - 14 years ago
So, this kid's been drafted by a team in the KHL. What does that mean for his time at Cornell? Are they gonna put pressure on him to leave early? (The above link says "Teams will retain rights on the Russian players until they turn 22, and on non-Russian players until they turn 28." More importantly, what if he gets drafted by an NHL team too? Is there an agreement between the KHL andby fatchance72 - Hockey

Re: Important message to ice hockey ticket holders - 15 years ago
I would guess that every member of the band would still want to play at the games even if we weren't allowed to play Gary Glitter. Let's be serious, this is a song. Band members aren't gonna give up their tickets to hockey games over a song. I certainly won't. But you're missing the point, cth95. My point was that athletics holds significant power over the band, whether we care to admit it orby fatchance72 - Hockey
Re: Important message to ice hockey ticket holders - 15 years ago
The band was informed of this situation the same time everyone else was. If athletics decides that we have to stop playing Gary Glitter, we don't really have a choice. Athletics provides us with tickets to every game (hockey, basketball, lacrosse, etc.) and allows us time to play too. The band has little to no bargaining power when it comes to something like this. Re: Cornell Hoops Gains Kentucky Wildcat - 15 years ago
Jeff Hopkins '82fatchance72Pretty funny. . . a bunch of Kentucky fans arguing about Coury on a CBS message board: [74.125.47.132] Another note, he was also in Anaheim for the first round of the NCAA tourney last year. Its not too absurd to think that Cornell's appearance in that region had something to do with his decision to transfer here. Given the way we played, doubtful. You tby fatchance72 - Other Sports

Re: Men's Basketball 1st Round NCAA Site - 16 years ago
CM cWo 44 peaked my interest on the location of our 1st round game. I decided to break it down from a different perspective. Almost every 'bracketology' source has Cornell getting a 13 or 14 seed. I used bracket predictions that are linked from this site, and calculated the percentages of the brackets with the locations of their 4-13 and 3-14 matchup cities. The charts list the cities witby fatchance72 - Other Sports
Re: Bracket Projections - 16 years ago
Here's a good site too. It takes seed projections from 40+ other bracketology sites and comes up with its own predictions. And it gives links to each of those sites.by fatchance72 - Other Sports
