Drew2 Hey guys/gals,From a Tech perspective.... I was at the game last night (just got home after a 6 hour ride) I think the game was evenly played, I think your Goalie made some tremendous stops to keep us off the board early, that being said, I was impressed with your team speed, very unlike Big Red of years ago....the game has changed. It was a man's game last night, they were crushing eachby jtwcornell91 - Hockey
Re: Clarkson Game Thread - 2 years ago
Trotsky redice Is this the worst collapse in Cornell Hockey history or at least during Mike's tenure? In the Schafer era, I nominate the final game in 1999. This was game 2 of a first to 3 points QF series at Princeton. We had come from behind to tie in the first game and had a 4-1 lead halfway through the deciding game. Then, this. However, tonight blows that away. I have added it to thby jtwcornell91 - Hockey

marty Iceberg marty Was I seeing double before the penalty. Looked like 4 Cornell players on the ice. It becomes 4x4 after 2 minutes of OT When you watch the replay the announcer said it was because the players called for roughing at the end of regulation came out at the end of their penalties to make it 4x4. By that logic if there had been matching minors in regulation with the refs callby jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Rita redice Is this the worst collapse in Cornell Hockey history or at least during Mike's tenure? Is this a bus ride home where they are only taking off their skates? They did that once after a horrible loss v. Army (back in the 90's??). I just told my wife that story.by jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Re: Red Hot Hockey "Presale" - 2 years ago
Scersk '97 ugarte It's from Davy! And let's go red might be used by other schools, mucking up the hashtag. It's not. It's from "My Old Cornell" or "Carnelian and White." Indeed, "Carnelian and White" is from 1906, whereas MYOC is from 1917, so the earliest reference is from the seldom performed (except by the band, lyric-less) football song. arugula Iceberg jtwcornell91 Am I the only one freaking out at all of the crowd shots with no one wearing masks and everyone's mouth open? I don't know MSG specifically but pretty much everywhere in NYC is asking for proof of vaccination and then allowing people to not wear masks in those places. Wouldn't be surprised of they just had vaccination status checked as a part of normal arena entryby jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Trotsky 13 is my favorite integer so fuck y'all who are afraid of it. My family went on a river cruise for my 50th birthday, and the four of us booked a pair of adjacent cabins which were numbers 211 and 215. So apparently A-ROSA Flusskreuzfahrten are also triskadekaphobes.by jtwcornell91 - Hockey
Re: Yale Game Thread - 2 years ago
Jim Hyla jtwcornell91 I was also going to complain about Malone wearing #13, but I see from looking at Greg's numerical roster that we're otherwise actually out of numbers between 2 and 29, with 25 out of circulation. Of course, he's a Junior, so I either didn't notice it in 2018-2019, or I did, and have forgotten getting annoyed back then. I assume he chose the number. 12 was available his frby jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Dunc Trotsky Some nice saves by McDonald. Somebody kill a bandy every time they play Chelsea Dagger or Sweet Caroline. Fuck Chicago / Fuck Boston. I agree on Fuck Chicago, I puke every time I hear Chelseas Dagger But Go Bruins and Go Red Sox "Sweet Caroline" in Boston is fine, but it should not be played at a sporting event outside of New England. LGR14 CU2007 Students. Sing the Gary glitter song after the band stops. It’s fantastic. Gonna keep beating this drum Not a student anymore, but the band started playing it earlier, so now they finish the two verses before the refs drop the puck. It sucks. Re: Interesting news about Harvard admissions - 2 years ago
David Harding 50+ years ago a Harvard alumnus visited my high school to talk with anyone who showed up and I came away with a few good lines. Someone asked about study abroad and the rep said that Harvard doesn't support study abroad. "We bring the best scholars in the world to Harvard, so there is no reason to go anywhere else." I would suspect that hasn't been true for a while, sinby jtwcornell91 - Other Sports
Re: Womens hockey 21 - 2 years ago
Weder The NCAA tournament will expand to 11 teams (yes, 11) either this season or next season. I really wonder what they were thinking going with 11 and not 12. 11 apparently gives them the same fraction as the men of teams in the tournament (27%), but was there some sort of regulation that said they couldn't go over by one?by jtwcornell91 - Hockey
Re: Game thread - 2 years ago
Scersk '97 Really, everything is fantastic, including the interplay between play-by-play and color that already sounds like it's been going on for years. If you had told me in 2005 that we would have every Cornell hockey game streaming via ESPN on the internet, with Grady doing the play-by-play for the games at Lynah, you would have had to get out the smelling salts to revive me before gettingby jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Scersk '97 DafatoneThere was an experience at Schoellkopf? Once upon a time, it was pretty pleasant, actually. The band was IMNSHO entertaining, there were cheerleaders, the team sometimes won. Heck, there were even stands on the west side of the field! Moving the students to Crescent was an admission of the beginning of the end, in retrospect. Re: Dartmouth Game - 2 years ago
Rita Chris H82 Side note - did anyone else notice just how ugly Dartmouth's uniforms were? It seems we were playing against a bunch of guys in convict gear. Almost as ugly as the old Seattle Metropolitans jerseys from 100+ years ago (I'm sure the Kraken will wear something like that for a throwback night....) my brother is a die-hard fan of Celtic FC of the Scottish Premiership and Dartmouth'sby jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Trotsky I am fine* with these stripes because they have a connection with history -- stripes were common in the early days of college hockey (rugby transplant maybe)? * Occasionally. And never in the pros where thirds are just another way to milk the suckers. This may be why I hate center stripes on hockey helmets so much (PSU, OSU, etc) since their only connection is to football.by jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Al DeFlorio Give My Regards billhoward Not clear if "input" means they actually vote. I strongly suspect that a lot of them don't. I suspect "input" means that someone, not necessarily the coach, but someone who is (or may not be) affiliated with the team and who has time for such things sends the vote in. Re: 3-on-3 overtime and the RPI & PWR - 2 years ago
Jim Hyla If you don't want to say undefeated, then come up with a different word, but don't change the meaning of the word for that season, when the powers can again change the giving of points for this season. Presumably the accurate phrase would be "perfect record". But you're right, "undefeated" typically also includes teams with ties, but in soccer three ties is equivalby jtwcornell91 - Hockey

ursusminor upprdeck on the flip side since hockey is also a fan sport.. Talked with kids at multiple schools the last few days and they love the 3x3 and shootout. Most fans do and there are far more casual fans than hardcore. if you remove the PWR issues it is fun to watch for many people. I think that is the logic, namely that they are trying to please kids and those who are not hardcore fans.by jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Al DeFlorio marty Al DeFlorio marty jtwcornell91 In the name of eliminating ties, the NCAA has actually caused more games to be counted more or less as ties. This! Thank you. Re: Alaska Post Mortem - 2 years ago
upprdeck considering the layoff and Alaska had multiple games under their belt not sure it was a bad result.. Maybe in 3-4 weeks we are still struggling to score, but dont give up hope. We didnt generate a ton of odd man rushes, but still there were more than enough quality shots that were saved or missed the net. If we had won 4-2/3-1 in regulation would people feel better? Jim Hyla nshapiro Swampy jtwcornell91 ugarte love 3x3 sorry! (do not love 55% but would probably be fine if we could negotiate this to, say, 70%) I've just barely got used to the 3-2-1-0 point system in international/European hockey, but accepting an OT win as 55% of a win is a lot harder than 2/3 of a win.
