ursusminorcalgARI '07Milo will also be playing in an International Jewish Tournament in Israel this summer. Other members of Team USA include Dov Grumet-Morris and Nathan Davis. Also, David Adler is on the roster. Dylan Reese was supposed to play but he had to drop out. The GM's of Team USA are Dave Taylor and Neil Smith. David Mitchell, Lacrosse, ESPN2 7/19 - 16 years ago
As I was flipping through the channels just now, I caught the start of a halftime interview with David Mitchell. They referred to his time with Cornell and participation in the championship weekend this year. David's Boston team is playing Rochester and is at halftime right now on ESPN2.by cth95 - Other Sports
Re: HUGE Basketball News - 16 years ago
nyc94 You can always hope their star(s) get sick like when Cornell beat #19 Cal by 20 in the Seton Hall Holiday of Tournament of 1992/1993 because Jason Kidd didn't play. I remember that. I think of it whenever I hear about Jason Kidd.by cth95 - Other Sports
Re: BC Will Be Without Schneider - 16 years ago
RichHcth95Anne 85it still goes in every time! In the annals? That's not fair! You can't retroactively attach a punchline to a post that was made 2.5 years prior to the joke. Foul. Flag on the play. 2 minute minor. Yellow card. I didn't even look at the date. I just kept hitting next message and this came right after the last post. I'm glad I didn't look at the date. Re: Lightweight Crew in Henley Finals - 16 years ago
Really impressive. It sounds like these guys are really tough finishers. To hold their own against some heavyweight crews on the worlds biggest stage for rowing makes it that much more impressive. Congratulations to the team and anyone affiliated with them.by cth95 - Other Sports
Re: Captains officially announced + freshmen - 17 years ago
Wow. I guess so. I don't know if we have seen hits like that since Murray graduated.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell Wins IRA National Rowing Championship - 17 years ago
That's really cool. I rowed with the freshman lightweights in '90-91, so I knew most of the guys on the '92 undefeated squad. I had a lot of fun and was in ridiculously good shape, but, unfortunately, I had to work the last three years to pay for rent, car payments and insurance, etc. Rowing isn't very visible, but it is a pretty cool sport and probably requires as much if not more teamby cth95 - Other Sports
Princeton Sucks Shirt - 17 years ago
This seemed like as good a thread as any to use for this post. I was catching the last day of skiing at Sugarbush today and saw a guy with a Princeton sweatshirt. When I looked again I realized under Princeton the word "Sucks" was written clearly with a Sharpie. I asked what school he went to and he said "Cornell". He is on the track team and Princeton is their big rivalby cth95 - Other Sports
Attending kids' events - 17 years ago
KeithKTo be honest, I think it would be better if parents didn't attend youth games generally. Kids would probably have more fun and feel less pressure if there wasn't an audience making a big deal out of it. If they weren't there the parents would have an easier time realizing that it's just a game. Not being a parent, I can't really understand why you'd want to sit and watcha bunch of litby cth95 - Hockey
Re: Semi-OT: Colgate student seen at Fenway Park - 17 years ago
I still can't figure out why the guy did that. The fan that was hit with the ball helped keep the Angels' player from catching the ball. All I can think of is that the dumbass was thinking that the play hurt the Sox and not the Angels. Don and Jerry thought it was absolutely hilarious and kept going back to the video over and over.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: free food (or drink) - 17 years ago
nyc94 At least the dairy farmers are still getting a fair price for their milk, right? Or did all that change when Ben and Jerry sold out to Unilever? I was a farmer and now am a consultant and dairy nutritionist in Vermont. No processor pays a significantly different price than any other. Ben and Jerry's gets the vast majority of its milk from the St. Albans Coop, if I remember correctly.by cth95 - John Spencer Is Dead

Re: 10 Hockey Bloopers - 17 years ago
Adrian (Adi) was just wishing me a happy Easter and greetings on the latter two translations. The first is the one that confused me. Like DeltaOne81, I thought "geil" has a meaning which has nothing to do with hockey.by cth95 - Hockey
10 Hockey Bloopers - 17 years ago
A Swiss friend of mine sent me this link. Some of these you probably have seen, but I think most of them are new. I pasted his Swiss-German note, even though I only partially understand it. "sooooooooooo geil cha hockey si!!! schöni eiertüpfete! gruess adi"by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Rationalization for a wounded fanbase - 17 years ago
I'm teaching skiing at Sugarbush tomorrow and then skiing all day Sunday with a friend of mind. At least now I will be able to enjoy all of this snow without feeling guilty, although I probably would have skied somewhere Saturday before going to the game Saturday night like I did in '02 in Lake Placid. As for the ice storm, '97 may have had bad weather, but the historic ice storm was in '98 (by cth95 - Hockey

Re: WHY CORNELL WILL NO LONGER DOMINATE THE ECAC - 17 years ago
bandrews37 snip Appleton is an "old barn"; so is Baker Rink and Houston Field House - how's that make us unique? So just like the coach, the fans haven't evolved and/or stayed ahead of the rest of the country. Tear down Fenway! Some of the seats have horrible sight lines, it is too small, and the seats aren't comfortable. How will the Sox ever keep a solid fan base and draw tby cth95 - Hockey
Re: WHY CORNELL WILL NO LONGER DOMINATE THE ECAC - 17 years ago
Thanks for a well-thought-out post. We may not agree on every specific, but your overall ideas are pretty similar to mine. Particularly your closing about the effect of losing 3 key players.by cth95 - Hockey

Re: Cornell at Harvard postgame - 17 years ago
Ari, You have been railing on Schafer all season for not finding the right mix on the powerplay. As much as you seem to be involved with the team, I am guessing you don't sit and watch every practice. The powerplay has been incredibly frustrating, and I'm sure there are multiple reasons, but how do you know he hasn't been trying different powerplay combinations during practice and justby cth95 - Hockey
Re: Lynah East and/or Dartmouth Roll Call - 17 years ago
RichH Also, while leaving the bar, a Harvard hockey player was coming in (at 1:30 am) with his entourage. All I wanted to do was show a little sportsmanship and tell him that they played a good game. I tried several times to say "Good game," but I had 4-5 entourage members screaming shit at me. Thanks to Age for grabbing me by the collar to yank me out the door. Al DeFloriocth95Duffis was very good. Duffus was very good. Thanks. I thought that didn't look right. Should have gone back and checked.by cth95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell Goaltenders - 17 years ago
WillCMJrAri, I agree with a lot of things you say, but Davenport let in 5 goals on only 21 shots. It doesn't matter if those 16 saves were all highlight-reel material and the 5 goals were breakaways and odd-man rushes, there's no good in 5 goals on 21 shots. Like I said to my friend at the end of the game, anyone looking at the stats is going to think Davenport sucked and cost us the game. Suby cth95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell Goaltenders - 17 years ago
Duffis was very good. My posts describe what I think happens on any given night. On some nights a goaltender can single-handedly keep his team in the game i.e. Leggio in the 2nd playoff game last year, and obviously, a handful of goaltenders are good enough to play like that on more nights than not.by cth95 - Hockey

Rita Harvard seniors reminescing.... "What do you wish was different?" "More winning.. More success in the Beanpot and the NCAA's. That would be the monkey on our back." Favorite memories- "Winning at Cornell 4-3 on their senior night. Let's hope they don't do that to us tonight." LGR!! Return the favor!!!by cth95 - Hockey
