TrotskyACMTrotsky IINM, Scrivens now has the longest scoreless streak in Cornell history. Still 4:03 to go, but this is as close as anyone's gotten in the almost 39 years since Cropper set the mark in December, 1969.Does that include the end of last season? You understand who you're talking to, right?by ACM - Hockey

Let me try to translate into English the section of the rule book that David Harding posted ... There is one, and only one, situation in which coincidental penalties affect on-ice manpower, and that is when both of the following conditions are in effect: - no penalties on the clock at the time the coincidental penalties are called (i.e., both teams at full and equal strength) - one, and onby ACM - Hockey
Re: "Analyzing the Opening Weekend" - 15 years ago
The sentence was written from the point of view of the attacking team. If the writer had referred to the "left faceoff circle", or the "left-wing circle", or just the "left circle", I would have had no problem with the description of the play. But there's just no such thing as a "penalty circle" in ice hockey (unless maybe frequently-penalized players meetby ACM - Hockey
Re: "Analyzing the Opening Weekend" - 15 years ago
I've been a follower of hockey for most of my 58 years. I grew up with the New York Rangers of Andy Bathgate, Dean Prentice, Red Sullivan, Camille Henry, Leaping Looie Fontinato, Harry Howell, Larry Cahan, Jim "Chief" Nielson, and Gump Worsley. I came to Cornell right after Ned Harkness led the Big Red to its first NCAA championship, and I was in Lake Placid for the climax to the undefeby ACM - Hockey

BeeeejugarteBeeeej... he was very badly injured literally the first day of freshman year when a large piece of furniture fell on him, or something like that, and he never played hockey again. Anybody else remember? That was some game of Telephone you played, Beeeej. Also, FYP. Obviously I was wrong about it being Greg Ratushny, but I have a very clear and vivid memory of learning that one ofby ACM - Hockey
Re: Captains for Next Year - 16 years ago
Greg Ratushny was Dan and Kim's younger brother. He was accepted by Cornell for the class of '96, but was seriously injured in a car accident shortly before his scheduled arrival at Cornell (summer of 1992). He never recovered from those injuries. I don't know exactly when he passed away, but the Greg Ratushny award was established in April 1997.by ACM - Hockey

DeltaOne81 Arthur, I looked into it a little bit and the file is actually a Windows Media video. If you're on a Mac, you'll need "Flip4Mac" which is software that lets QT play WMV. On a PC, you may want to save the file, (perhaps optionally?) change the extension to .wmv, and play it in Windows Media. Thanks, tried it, but it didn't work. "Windows Media Player cannot play the filby ACM - Hockey
Re: Princeton 2 Cornell 1 postgame - 16 years ago
When I try playing back the file Age posted, I get 19 seconds of pure black nothing. QuickTime 7.4.1 tells me that QuickTime needs "additional software" to play the file properly, and directs me to a page listing a dozen different things. I'm not in the mood to install a dozen pieces of software just to watch 19 seconds of video. Can anybody give me a clue to help me figure out exactlyby ACM - Hockey
Re: 2/23/08: Princeton 2 Cornell 1 (2nd) - 16 years ago
Apparently the goal judge didn't see the puck go into the net either. If he had, he should have turned the goal light on and kept it on.by ACM - Hockey

From the NCAA Ice Hockey Video Replay Policies and Procedures section of the rule book: When a review is requested by the referee or instant replay official, the public address announcer shall make the following announcement: "The play is being reviewed by video replay."by ACM - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1. Clarkson 1, first period - 16 years ago
Until Lynah acquires facilities that allow goals to be reviewed, there won't be any need for me to announce anything like that.by ACM - Hockey
Re: Has this ever happened? - 16 years ago
TrotskyAccording to the 1987 edition of the Cornell Hockey Record Book, ed. Arthur Mintz, in 1961-62, on only 29 chances for the season, Cornell scored 5 PPG and gave up 10 SHG. No, Cornell scored 10 shorthanded goals. Records from that season are fragmentary and inconsistent; for example, many games do not have records of individual penalties. What records there are were first pieced togetherby ACM - Hockey

metaezraThe Greening-Nash line seems to be a non-factor. They've actually been a huge factor--turnovers by that line led to odd-man rushes that resulted in both Union goals.by ACM - Hockey

The Ithaca Journal, the Cornell Athletics web site, and the RPI Athletics web site all report that the penalty given to Burgdoerfer for the hit from behind on Scali was a game disqualification, and not the normal garden-variety game misconduct.by ACM - Hockey
