Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: 11/3/2017: Cornell @ Quinnipiac - 6 years ago
I must say that the current QU jerseys are terrible. The old ones weren't too bad but the font choice on those new ones just don't work well. They also should've stuck with the previous logo with "QUINNIPIAC" on it. Perhaps they changed jersey manufacturers and that's why there's such a difference.by Iceberg - Hockey

I got this email on a previous day. lolby Iceberg - Hockey

I can't imagine Galajda isn't getting the start again in Princeton tomorrow.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 10/28/17 vs UAH - 6 years ago
That station doesn't seem to have an audio feed online, strangely enough. At least this shouldn't be an issue next weekend. All of Q's home games this season will be on ESPN3 and the game at Princeton will probably be on WHCU again.by Iceberg - Hockey

Re: Opponents News - 6 years ago
I suppose it would be time to revive this topic since other teams have meaningful games this weekend? It's too early to really tell anything yet but Clarkson did take out Penn State yesterday.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: HARVARD SUCKS - 6 years ago
As of now, there are still a few scattered tickets left.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponents News - 6 years ago
The funny thing about that is the fact that St. Lawrence has two games in Wisconsin this upcoming season and Hayton would likely be starting against his old team twice. In any case, I wouldn't be surprised if St. Lawrence were fighting for home ice near the end of the season. Even with Hayton, they haven't exactly been a top-tier team the past few years.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA tourney - 7 years ago
imafrshmn Hooking GREAT game! Speed, heavy checking, great goaltending, and no trapping. Agreed. One of the most exciting college hockey games I've ever seen. Denver's 2nd goal in particular was an incredible display of practically pro-level skills. The contrasting styles of play made for an interesting matchup. UMD looked like the Cornell team of my wildest dreams. I'm glad I'm not the onlyby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA tourney - 7 years ago
Speaking of Denver, Will Butcher gets the Hobey Baker; the first defender to win it since 2009.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA tourney - 7 years ago
I'll be surprised if Denver doesn't win on Saturday. That was an incredibly dominating performance. Notre Dame had pretty much nothing the whole night.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Abother collegetown fire - 7 years ago
Every few years there always seems to be a house fire in Collegetown. I still remember seeing with my own eyes the house that burned down on Eddy St. a few years ago during my senior year. And then my freshman year there was the fire on Cook St. that took the life of a student.by Iceberg - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: NCAA tourney - 7 years ago
Lowell falls in overtime and Notre Dame will only need a bus ride to get the Frozen Four in 2 weeks.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA tourney - 7 years ago
Union has a chance at allowing 10 goals. That certainly hasn't happened during the NCAA's in a long, long time.by Iceberg - Hockey

Re: NCAA tourney - 7 years ago
It seems like the gong show at BU continues. They were up 3-1 for a bit. And Harvard is now up 2-0 heading to the thirdby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA tourney - 7 years ago
Strange that everyone seems to think BU is doomed. Cohesiveness and coaching issues aside, they do have some highly skilled players on their roster, even if that west regional is nasty.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Hockey Broadcasts 2016-17 - 7 years ago
CU2007 Heard from my sister that all Cornell alumni in NYC received an email that there will be a watch party at a bar called Van Diemens. I went there once last year for something totally unrelated to sports. One of the managers was a Union alumnus and there was a Union flag hanging on the first floor as I remember.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Bracketology 2016-17 Style - 7 years ago
upprdeck lowell can score.. they also lost to omaha/northestern/clarkson/maine/uconn/new hampshire and several others cornell lost to merrimack/harvard/quin/clarkson/dartmouth and the CC its a very winnable game thats about all you can ask this time of year. it wont be 90% lowell fans either they didnt travel to albany last year which is only 2.5 hrs compared to 45 min this yearby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA tourney - 7 years ago
Not the most ideal opponent since Lowell is a scary offensive team, but it's the NCAA and the best are going to be there. Also, I imagine that first game will probably have the most attendance since Lowell also draws very well as I've seen first-hand.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs Union @ Lake Placid 03/17/17 - 7 years ago
Drew I think Union was a one (very good) line team. Take that away and they were a toothless lion. Pretty much. Their defense isn't very great and Sakellaropolous is average. I doubt they get past whatever regional they wind up in.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Bracketology 2016-17 Style - 7 years ago
Bah. Ignore my last post as the USCHO scoreboard was incorrect. PSU/Minnesota are in overtime.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Bracketology 2016-17 Style - 7 years ago
Penn State just lost, so that can be now factored in.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Bracketology 2016-17 Style - 7 years ago
adamw Trotsky YATC: chalk except we win out puts us in PWR 8. Careful what you wish for. That could mean playing 3 seed North Dakota in Fargo - or 3 seed Providence in Providence. I actually don't think playing the Friars there is all that bad. It's not like Providence has a massive draw and there would be a lot of Cornell supporters there anyway.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Clarkson @ Cornell 03/10-3/12?/17 - 7 years ago
At least we're getting some help tonight with UNH pulling out the win among other things.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: First round of ECAC playoffs - 7 years ago
SLU did not play all that well last month, but if they get it together next weekend, look out.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: First round of ECAC playoffs - 7 years ago
Q advances without much of a fight, but OT at Yale and Princeton. If Clarkson hangs on, they will be in Ithaca next weekend. Edit: And both home teams that were in overtime have won. If Colgate wins tomorrow, they go to Harvard and Yale gets Union. If Princeton wins, they go to Union and Yale gets Harvard.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: First round of ECAC playoffs - 7 years ago
I'm actually not surprised by tonight's results. The one series that could go either way (Colgate/Princeton) seems to be doing that.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2017 - 7 years ago
billhoward You're right, acceptance rate is not a proxy for commitment, nor SATs. Still, varsity athletes at least in the major sports aren't distributed evenly among the colleges. Otherwise, a third of athletes would be in Arts, a quarter in Engineering, a fifth in CALS. So it's intriguing to see Cornell's highest profile entering lacrosse player in Arts. College 2016 % of entering class AAby Iceberg - Other Sports
