Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Opponent News 19-20 - 4 years ago
The goaltender played fine from what I saw. Harvard's coaching lost them that gameby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponent News 19-20 - 4 years ago
Indeed. BC with 3 goals in 1:48. Very wide open gameby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: MSG: Red Hot Hockey NEWS - 4 years ago
Harvard hosts BC on Friday, so they actually have 2 games. BC is also the only HEA team that would have an at-large bid as of todayby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponent News 19-20 - 4 years ago
Yale getting throttled at BC, although I don't think that game means very much for the pairwise. Certainly doesn't help the conferenceby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 2019-11-16: Cornell sort of at St. Lawrence - 4 years ago
4-1 Cornell after 3 goals in...5 minutes? They all came very suddenlyby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell 6 - Yale 2, 11/9/2019 - 4 years ago
I know Yale is not what they used to be in terms of talent, but that was one of the worst Yale teams I've seen in years. That or the current Cornell team is just that much better. Brown appeared to be the better of the two opponents this weekend and it wouldn't surprise me if they got a home seed in Marchby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: @ MSU - 4 years ago
That Malinski goal was really something else. I think he previously saw some kind of behavior or tendency from the goaltender because he knew where he was going the whole time. It's not even that hard of a shot but it's placed perfectly in a spot where the goaltender's positioning wasn't enough to eliminate the angleby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponent News 19-20 - 4 years ago
The class of 2019 in the ECAC had a lot of great players, including guys that left early (like Angello and Donato). I've been meaning to look at the numbers of the more notable players but haven't gotten around to it.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 2019-20 Schedule - 4 years ago
The 4 PM was probably eastern time, so there will likely be games starting at 10 PM eastern or in that neighborhoodby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Ivy League lacrosse tournament [& NCAAs 2019] - 5 years ago
CU77 Yale takes Round 3 of Penn-Yale, 19-18 in OT. Thrilling game, back & forth, no team led by more than 2. Now the Penn seniors can go to their graduation tomorrow without having to worry about the short ride down the I-76 next weekendby Iceberg - Other Sports
Re: Cornell graduation weekend 2019 - 5 years ago
I'm still waiting for the day they get Ken Dryden to speak (assuming it hasn't happened already)by Iceberg - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: NCAA Frozen Four 2019 - 5 years ago
Duluth is clearly a team that's built and coached to win at the NCAA level. There's no more coincidence at this pointby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: An early look at 2019-2020 - 5 years ago
redice Trotsky arugula Wow, that's nuts. Interesting too is the difference between NC$$ in the 70s versus the 80s as an NHL feeder. Nethery was even more dominant than Niuewendyk, yet had a very minor NHL career. There was very much a stigma about COLLEGE BOY! in the 70s in the NHL. I mean, that was almost as bad as being a homosexual. Don Cherry was making personnel decisions in the 70s. Cby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 2019-20 Schedule - 5 years ago
Jim Hyla Trotsky Jim HylaLook at Union. They didn't win the FF because they had recruited a bunch of hot prospects. They got "lucky" that a number of recruits turned out much better than what the general consensus was reporting. Same goes for Yale. Those incredible forwards were almost all dark horses. Meanwhile, the Harvard conveyor belt keeps churning through blue chippahs who losby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell - Northeastern - 5 years ago
The 2016 regional in Albany was also hosted by the ECAC. Of course, Q was the 1 seed in the regional that year. And Yale was also in that regional. The other two teams, UMass Lowell and RIT, were no more than a 4-hour trip by busby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell - Providence - 5 years ago
Leaman-style hockey in a nutshell *facepalm* Regardless, it sure didn't look like this year's team would get this far, so it was certainly a nice surpriseby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA Day 2 (March 30) - 5 years ago
Jim Hyla Q outshooting ASU 3-1. It’s not over but I hope that this puts to rest the ASU story. Unfortunately Q is the beneficiary and if AIC beats Denver, Q may have had the easiest way to the FF of any team that I can remember. Huh? Q is getting Duluth, so that's no easy pathby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA Day 2 (March 30) - 5 years ago
Q is up 2-0 well into the 2nd now. They're looking significantly better than ASU so farby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell - Northeastern - 5 years ago
That was a good first period overall. The forecheck was forcing quite a few NU turnoversby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: NCAA Day 1 (March 29) - 5 years ago
This game isn't on ESPN+ but rather ESPN2, so apparently the subscription to the former won't do much.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponent News 18-19 - 5 years ago
One has to wonder whom SLU hires next after the obvious failure with Morrisby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Bracketology 2019 - 5 years ago
I find it funny that for the 3rd straight year Cornell is going to face a HE team in the regionals and those are the teams that seemingly everybody in the conference except for Cornell has been playing OOC games against in recent yearsby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: ECAC Finals: Clarkson 3 Cornell 2 (OT) - 5 years ago
BearLover Also, McGrath was clearly not on his game in the OT. Which might be expected due to the circumstances, but Galajda probably poke checks the puck out of the crease rather than falling over backwards. Yeah, that's what I thought too. He definitely could've stopped the pass across. But he was basically thrown into the fire yesterday. Tough luckby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: ECAC Finals: Clarkson vs. Cornell - 5 years ago
Well, we'll see what happens next weekend, but the neutral zone play will definitely have to be better. That overtime goal was basically the result of an advance up the ice that just wasn't deep enoughby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: ECAC Finals: Clarkson vs. Cornell - 5 years ago
Hopefully it's nothing serious with Galajda. McGrath looked shaky but given the circumstances somewhat expectedby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: ECAC QF Game 3: Cornell 4 Union 2 - 5 years ago
Also, Union was a very dominant team (keyword being team) that year. They took out some very good teams on their way to the championship. And up until Makar at UMass this year, I can't recall seeing any defenseman as consistently effective or dominant as Gostisbehere was. The Hobey Baker would've been his if Gaudreau weren't still at the college level.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: ECAC QF Game 2: Union vs. Cornell - 5 years ago
Trotsky Harvard wins in overtime in front of an apparently empty building. Clarkson and Brown also advance. Our game is at 4 tomorrow. Based on the highlights it looked and sounded like there were predominantly Dartmouth fans in the building. Probably mostly alums in the Boston areaby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 2019 ECAC 1R - 5 years ago
Trotsky Union and Yale advance. Prn @ Brn and SLU @ Drt go to overtime. If Dartmouth wins their series we play Union. If SLU wins, we play the winner of the Princeton-Brown series. I would much rather see Union. Brown is playing inspired hockey right now. Dartmouth winning would also mean that Brown goes and plays QU, which would be interesting since QU is missing 3 of their top defensemenby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 2019 ECAC 1R - 5 years ago
Princeton continuing to look bad (and Brown putting on a clinic). 2-0 Brown and Forget (who played last night) back in net after the starter Ferland got pulled.by Iceberg - Hockey
