Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Red Cast Really Sucks - 11 years ago
When I was watching the sprint video it showed no score. Linking to live stats via the sprint football schedule, live stats shows Cornell up 20-0 as the second half starts. Still no video even though second half has started. And the weather is not that bad. It is drizzling with no lightning, etc.by dag14 - Hockey

The sprint feed is horrible. And live stats shows the Columbia final football score from last year....by dag14 - Hockey
Re: Men's soccer off to 8-0 start - 11 years ago
I have been to every home game and they are a lot of fun to watch, other than the disturbing tendency to give up a soft goal early. Hartwick scored its only goal in a 4-1 game 21 seconds in, for example. That being said, watching Cornell then work to tie and eventually win is exciting. All the credit goes to the coaching staff I suspect, first for recruiting the talent and then successfully coby dag14 - Other Sports

200% better than any sprint video I watched in the past. I was heading out the door to attend the game when I heard thunder. Saved me hanging around for what turned out to be a 2 hr weather delay. So I particularly appreciated the fact that I could drink beer in my jammies in my living room to watch a pretty decent Redcast broadcast of the game.by dag14 - Hockey

Cornell leads ECU 4-2 after 4 innings. They batted around; runners advancing one base at a time to score 4 runs in the inning.by dag14 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell baseball no-hitter - 12 years ago
Sorry; I may not have been clear. UNC had the great pitching. Ours was "decent." In that our starter didn't completely suck. Our defense kept us in the game early, however. Now we need to win tomorrow.by dag14 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell baseball no-hitter - 12 years ago
Through the first 5 innings we played great defense and had decent pitching, but for one 4-run inning. We didn't hit as effectively as UNC so they were not called upon to play great defense. They got great pitching but for one home run. Hence the 5-2 score. I just got a text from CU Athletics indicating they hope to resume at 5:45.by dag14 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell Women's Hockey: Offseason - 12 years ago
Ten per game might be an exaggeration because a lot of Tompkins girls hockey player who were in the "Cub Club" would be there with their families. But if attendance topped 100 it would be a huge crowd. Remember, the year before Johnston hit campus, the team won 4 games or something woeful like that. Attendance in the last 2 years has been at least 500 for most games. Especially ifby dag14 - Hockey

Cornell baseball no-hitter - 12 years ago
Sophomore pitcher Connor Kaufman threw a no-hitter against Dartmouth as the team won 2-0 Sunday afternoon. It is the first solo 7-inning no-hitter since the 1960's. Unfortunately, it was raining and cold so only a handful of fans were present to see it.by dag14 - Other Sports

dbilmes Trotsky RichH Terrific piece in the Michigan Daily: The midnight gesture of Shawn HunwickGreat piece. As a former Cornell Sun sports editor, it pains me to say this. But the quality of the sportswriting in the Michigan Daily when it came to their coverage of the Cornell-Michigan game was far superior to any sportswriting I've seen in the Sun for many years. You can almost always find something similar at Lawpower website. Click on the LAGR -- live action game report -- link at the top of the forums page and someone is likely to be reporting on games in progress. And without much partisan commentary....by dag14 - Other Sports

Re: Happy Randy Wilson Day! - 12 years ago
I am fairly sure the corners are the same since it would take major construction to alter them. The boards are approximately the same height as they are now but the glass was way shorter back then. That's why it was so easy for fans to swarm over them to celebrate. It also made it easy for the guy to climb over the glass carrying a live chicken to greet the Harvard goalie when he skated out foby dag14 - Hockey
Re: Cornell - Dartmouth post-series good news fun times - 12 years ago
There are two reasons the fans do not hit the ice to celebrate the ECAC quarterfinal victory any more: 1. The glass is too high so it is impossible for most to climb over safely. 2. It hasn't happened in so long that the current student body doesn't realize it is part of the tradition. There is no reason why a new tradition can't be started: walking on the ice through the open doorwaysby dag14 - Hockey

Women's hockey is not the same as men's hockey for first round scheduling. Not sure why. Harvard hosted one year and didn't even play in the tournament.by dag14 - Hockey
