Not to diminish the importance of this weekend's hockey matchup versus Onion.
Here's hoping it will be a celebratory few days all around.
This will be a big indicator of the lacrosse team's potential, given Albany's trouncing by Syracuse.
So, here's to a resurgence for Cornell athletics!

Well that was not encouraging. We open with a wholesale line-up change on attack and midfield; why?????? Then it's abandoned after one quarter. We lose the game, 12-8, which was never in doubt for Albany.

Meanwhile Sucks, with their DeLuca coached defense, beats Duke 14-9 on a neutral field.

Shake up the team, light a fire under them? Later in the day, Schafer reinserts DNP-Friday Buckles and he gets the game-winner.

Cornell-written game story notes Albany goalie made 18 of 26 saves (9x10 fourth quarter) so either we ran into a hot goalie or we made him hot.

Also intrigued where the story says that 3 games into his 4 years at Cornell, "The offense was led by freshman Colton Rupp, who had a career day with four goals on just six shots." Maybe this will turn out to be Rupp's everyday output. At least the Ivy League doesn't use the qualifier "true freshman" as if that's a rarity.

Goalie stats resulted from both great play by Riordan and shots from Cornell that he had no trouble seeing. Our shooting was pretty awful for the most part.

I suppose that I'm spoiled by the likes of Rob Pannell and Max Seibald, but our offense smacks of generic Lacrosse 101.
A lot of passing around the perimeter and very little style, innovation or trickeration.
Question mark, anybody?
The opposition really doesn't have to study much video to get prepared.
But, the team is young. Maybe that will evolve over time?

Hey, hockey doubled up on Onion, right??!!
Virginia, watch out!!
