Army has a 130-yard-long indoor practice field. That has to help a NYS team get ready in January-February. Army was certainly ready to play a year ago up there.

18-7 Big Red rout. Mock and Donovan were the big scorers. There's some concern, though, because Pannell went down untouched at the end of the 3rd with an apparent leg injury. He limped off the field and did stay on the sideline for the duration of the game. Hopefully he's ok.

Inside Lacrosse in-game blog:
It looks like Pannell is OK on the sidelines. He's taking a knee and cheering on his team. I'm assuming he isn't coming back in because the Big Red are up by so much.

I think today's game may say more about SU this early in the season, than about Army being good.
(Lousy sentence, but you get the drift, I hope.)

We have to hope Pannell's injury isn't serious, especially with UVA next weekend.

SU has blown a 6-3 lead and now trails UVA 7-10. Lerman can't stop anything at his feet.

10-8 after three, UVA. I think I just heard faceoffs were 17-4 UVA. Big advantage.

UVa has dominated on faceoffs. And their outside shooters are something else.

It was 14-7, but still, that's huge.

I stand corrected. Maybe my brain couldn't wrap around that kind of dominance.

If UVA gets a 2+ goal lead they'll go into that packed in zone and eat clock.
We don't have a big outside cannon to break that up. With the inside finishers we have, I'd attack that with a 1-4-1 setup with Mock, Bremner, English, and Lang up somewhat, maybe 12 yards from the crease and widely spaced. Then pop those guys into the gaps on the move to get quick feeds from Donovan/Pannell and high percentage dunks. It might be interesting to make the two middle guys Stenrud (6'5) and Lang (6'4) and drop some high feeds down on UVA goaltender Fortunato, 6'1" in the program but doesn't look that tall standing in the cage.

1. @Virginia 14-10 over Syracuse
2. Johns Hopkins 10-8 over @Princeton
3. @Cornell 18-7 over Army
The top 3 teams appear pretty close esp. knowing what we did to the Cadets after losing by just 1 at Syracuse the week before.

Two questions for ya:
1. Did you see the UVA-Syracuse game?
2. Which of our goaltenders do you think we can rely on to prevent UVA from getting a 2 goal lead at any point?

My suggestion is don't let them get a two goal lead.
That didn't work too well for SU. Of course, maybe if they had held their own at the X the result would have been different.

If Tesoriero can continue doing well at X and keep giving us a huge advantage with time of possession, that will go a long way on Saturday.
