Ted Donato coaching my kid - sacrilege?

So I drop our HS junior off at the BU ProAmbitions (their term, not ours) hockey camp, pick up a schedule, and see one of the guest instructors is Sucks' own Ted Donato. I hope Scott waves a fish at Donato when he skates on.
OTOH, I always had an image of a pretty dumpy campus, and from the Comm Avenue side it is, but there's a U-shaped ring of dorms around the hockey rink and Nickerson Field (also getting new turf this summer). The dorm room is okay, the view out the 12th floor window is gorgeous (river and Cambridge), and the landscaping in the inner dormitory area (in that little area if nowhere else) looks as good as Cornell Plantations. I recall BU as sort of a commuter/safety school you wouldn't want to go to, and now maybe it's a school I couldn't get into.
The rink is pretty nice, too. This would be the third rink at BU in my lifetime.

The rink is nice, but it lacks the character that makes college hockey, College Hockey.
And did you just compare this:
[maps.live.com]
To this?
[ecommons2.library.cornell.edu]
Say what you want about BU as an educational institution, but at the end o the day it is still sandwiched between two highways and the slowest trolley service known to mankind.

That picture does BU's west campus no justice. This is a bit better:
And I cant find a picture of the view *from* west campus, as Bill described.
And a few more nice areas:
(portions of Bay State Road are gorgeous)
I'm not going to claim its anything like Cornell - it ain't - but for being able to roll out of your bed and into Fenway, and for being 'sandwiched between two highways'... well, there's a *lot* worse you could do.

The camp worked out okay. Lots more sirens kept the kids awake the first night becasue it was so hot and the windows had to be open. Not like that in Placid. My son was in awe of the food at BU and the cafteria we ate at was great for people watching. While sitting at a picture window in the cafeteria, at the base of the dorm (no going outside for breakfast at least if you're in this dorm), I saw a Cornellian, Adele Robinette of the Alumni Magazine, bringing her daughter round BU for orientation. Small world.
You're right, it's not Cornell, but it's not that bad, either. And now they have two rinks, since Walter Brown is still up and running.

Two rinks would be nice.
